Laurel (president of the philippines) outlawed the possession of that money.so he declared a monopoly on the issuance of the money.i have a money issued in the philippines 1944-1945 series 10 fiat peso.

  • @Luckyrob72 You got that right! Epecially when you find it on the ground or while metal detecting. My brother found one on the ground a he bought his lunch with it.

  • @IS91Videos Sure thing. Just PM your address. Btw, i'm visiting DC right now, so I'll mail it when I get home in about a week.

  • @Coins4Cheese Wow! Thanks a lot, friend! =D

  • Dude, one dollar is the equivalent of 86 yen......

  • @TheEliteNerd Yep. It varies every day. Some days it's high, some days it's low.

  • There should be ninjas and samurai on their bills. That would be cool.

  • @H4I2I2EE more like anime and robots

  • I have to say although rare the smallest decimal of Japan is SEN if that is even still made though..100 SEN=1 YEN I have a paper note 50 SEN from allied occupation after WW2 ended and a 1 SEN coin.

  • i have a 100 yen bill.. it's made in 1950..

i wanna get 2000 yen since it's really rare these days.

  • 2000 yen bills aren't that rare, they're just not common. It's like the $2 bill; no one sees them, but they have stacks of them at the bank.

  • i hve two more questions:

1st question :do you collect coins, papermoney or both?

2nd question: are u a member of the ibns(international bank note society)

  • I mainly collect coins, but if the chance to buy paper money at a resonable cost arrives, than I might buy it. But mainly, I stick to coins. I've never heard of IBNS before.

  • quick question if i were to go to bank of america and do acurreny exchange for 2000 yen would they give the a 2000 yen bill or would they give me 2 1000 yen bills

  • Chances are you'll get two 1,000 yen bills. But if you do, and you want a 2,000 yen bill, just ask if you can trade for one. It's like two dollar bills; they have them at banks, and all you have to do is ask.

  • did u go to japan?

  • Lol I live in Japan :D.

  • @Coins4Cheese ur so lucky T^T

  • thanks so much

  • how do umakechinnes litters oand i have a five yencoin and i dont no what date it is

  • To make Chinese letters, look online for Chinese letter text. Scroll down, and you'll be able to see a comment I wrote about how to read Japanese dates.

  • hey my dad went to japan a few months ago and he bought me back currencey as he knows my passion for coin collecting ,and some of them have engilsh numbers, and japanese on the bottom i understand the english but not the japanese.......help me figure them out!!!

  • The Japanese do it by the year of the emperors rein. If the coin has something that looks like this 昭, than it's Showa. He ruled from 1926-1989. If the coin shows this 平, than it's Heisei. He ruled from 1989-present.

Now, here's how to actaully read them. If your coin shows 昭 1, than it's 1926. If it shows 昭 2, than it's 1927. On the last year of his rein which is 昭 64 (1989). After 昭 64, we move on to 平. If it shows 平 1, than it's 1989. If it shows 平 21, than it's 2009.

  • Are you following this? Here's where it gets tricky. The 5 yen and one yen coins don't show the number in western form, they show the number in Japanese kanji form. So if it says 昭 六 四, Than it's 1989. Visit this page for more info on Japanese numbers.

  • i think the reason why the 2000 yen note isn't as commmon because its like the $2 usd here in the states. if you buy something for $3 usd and pay witha five, chances are they will give 2 $1 dollar bills. the only place that i know of that gives back change in 2 dollar bills is the gift shop at tom jeffersons estate, the monticello in virginia

  • Sorry, I have to see a pic to know what your talking about. How about making a vid about it?

  • If I reed it right. The 100 yen. Is from 1980 - 2009

    The 5 yen is from 1920 - 1980

I think. But don't know the the next two numbers

  • The site that I sent you covers all of that. Btw, tell me the numbers, and I'll figure it out for you.

  • I have a 5 yen. And found a 100 yen. I know some numbers. But don't know the dates. Nice video.

  • Thanks for watching and making a comment on my video!

Reading Japanese dates is pretty tricky. I'll PM you a site where you can learn about how to read them. Once you get it down, you're set.

Lets say that your coin shows this: 平 9. That's 1997.

  • does japan take english money

  • I'm pretty sure that some Japanese banks take english money. Also, on US bases, they have Banks of America, which serve US and Japanese money.

  • Hey Great Video Kento. Very interesting. Ripley :o)

  • Thanks Rip :)

  • Very cool! I collected some Japanese coins and currency when I was a kid. Interesting that the coin designs, at least, haven't changed much.

A couple of comments: That the 2,000 yen note is so uncommon seems like the US $2 bill (I know they are different in value, but function is similar). They are still circulated, but you hardly ever see them. As for the 100 yen bill, in Canada, they no longer use a $1 bill. Instead, they use a $1 coin (called a Loonie).

    Nice vid! =^[.]^=

  • also COINS4CHEESE is it the same size as a american dollar cause if u dont know please compare it to a american dollar .. and does the paper feel like reciept paper or copy paper please write back again plz ^_^!!!

  • American notes are a shade wider than Japanese bills. But Japanese bills are about half an inch taller than the U.S. ones. It feels like copy papaer, except it's less stiff and has a soft feeling to it. If I ever get an eBay account, I might sell some Japanese money.

  • hey coins for cheese i just subsribe like few seconds ago so plz do this for me

could you measure the japanese bill for me and tell me how many inches the height and width are thx!!!

  • Ok, the bill measures 15 cm by 7.5 cm. Also, I just subbed to you, I like your vids.

  • im not japanese i am american maybe you are too i dont know but what kind of paper is japanese money made cuz american money is made out of linen please write back ^_^!!!

  • Well, it feels different from american money, that's for sure! It feels more stiffer, and I don't think it has any cotton in it.

  • good zoom. what kind ofcamera??

  • I think it's a Sony, but I'm not sure.

  • isnt there a bank note that is 1 yen?

  • Idk, probably. My great aunt has a 10 yen bill, so I guess they have other types of fractional currency.

  • at 2:11 you could juss hear his stomach lmao were you hungry when you made this video??....oh and ummm thank you for postin this video ive never seen no japanese money before and i thought dat was a 100 dollar coin lmao until you went back and said dat it was a dollar nuff said

  • LOL you're right! I listened to it like 5 times. If you like my vids, feel free to suscribe.

  • LMAO!!! great JOB!

  • Thanks.

  • how much money do your parents give for japan mine give me a thousand dollars in us money because we stay for like so many weeks

  • I don't understand your question. Are you asking how much money I get a week? I so, I get 500 yen a week.

  • Hm, Japanese money is pretty easy to understand, you just take a zero away.

So like 500 yen equals to $50 :)

  • Actually, you take away two zeros. If 500 yen equals $50, then I would be rich!

  • OH! Okay :)

  • thanks dude!! it really helped!!!

  • No problem!

  • thanks again =)

  • great video dude thanks for uplaoding it,

so 10,000 yen is 100$ pretty much right?

p.s when will you be making a another vlog?

  • Thanks for the comment. Yep, 10,000 yen is $100! Here's a trick for finding out the denomination. Take the last two numbers away, and the number's you're left with is what the money is worth, in dollars! Um, I'm probably going to make another vlog soon.
