  • Hey Beck's great, everybody should know it, hell HE KNOWS IT, but man Stevie Didn't fuck around. At around 1:24, those big licks, that's like taking a hammer and pounding piano wire. How many bluesslingers even have the nerve to play with Beck?

  • My god they are great! By the way can anyone sus out by ear the lick stevie uses alot in this song? I'm talking about the one at about 0:34, cant really get it to sound like that. Maybe it's just the attack from Stevie that makes the lick cry so great, and not just hitting the right notes!

  • I had the privelige to see my favorite guitar player Stevie Ray, and Jeff Beck, tour together shortly before he died..He was going to be the best ever. HUGE sad loss.

  • At the end they create a Hendrix sound together. Stevie gets feedback and Jeff does some whammy bar and gets some feedback.

  • this shit rocks. whered you think mtv came from ?

  • stupid white boys always trying to create drama and divisions instead of just appreciating great artist. How fucking sick and sad you stupid mindless turds, keep showing yourself to be.

  • Jeff's "pick days" - he played far more notes in those days ...

  • and that.......... is how you kick some serious guitar butt. stevie ray was in fine form and was rocking jeff becks socks off. i love it.

  • Nothin but respect for each other. gotta love it

  • prefect!!!!

  • STEVIE + JEFF = Major Fuckin' SYNERGY!!! The two together exploded into ONE MAJOR FORCE to be reckoned with!!! This clip is evidence that two guitar heroes are better than ONE!!! I doubt I'll ever hear two monsters tradin' off this good again!!!

  • Shit, am I really going to be able to play my Strat' anymore ? These guys are definitely not form Earth.

  • I can't believe I missed this concert at the Capitol Center in Landover, Maryland because it was on a *school night*! ARRRRRRRRGH!

  • As if they're competing. Jeezuss. I saw this tour. Mere months before Stevie died. They were both amazing and generous and clearly each man was a huge fan of the other. They traded off headlining on alternate nights - and came on together for the last four numbers - nothing but mutual respect and admiration.

  • im seeing double 2 guitar gods on stage at the same time but i think srvs best suited to blues but he had the skill to play most guitar styles and jeff beck is one of the last guitar legends alive along with clapton page blackmore and brian may also i wont forget gilmour hes great as well anyway imagine having to follow srv and jeff beck on stage i mean how can you follow their act id disapear out of the building ha ha

  • well...here stevie becomes a rocker...not a blues-roker!!!( voice and guitar).very interesant.we can see the open mind of great srv.yeahhh. keep rockin' sweet stevie!!!thank you so very muuuch!!

  • Awesome song! Awesome riffs by great players

  • this is fucking awesome. so glad i found this! thanx texasp1!

  • Here's two great rock musicians surfing on a great rock song. Both come from very different backgrounds, and yet 'fuse' and make for a splendid gig, giving the crowd all the clichés and lead-guitar moves from the book. They're having fun just as I do watching them. And they do it in a very gentlemanly manner at that (they're not stepping over each other's performance, as men of taste do- watch Beck stay behind enjoying the ride). You wanna see more to it than that, then you're not listening.

  • Beck would suck at playing SRV style...so would SRV trying to play Beck Style...

If a race pilot and a car builder meet we don't compare them but enjoy the race season they do together...

  • my favorite song of all time what can i say !

  • 2 diff styles playing together amazing sound anyone who doesnt think so has no ideal about guitars wait just flat out music

  • don't compare Beck and SRV, they are 2 different players from different generations

  • great stuff

  • Too bad some knuckleheads feel compelled to compare two great guitar players. Why not just appreciate that they are great and have unique styles? Comparisons are subjective and a waste of hot air or the keyboard equivalent thereof. RIP Stevie, keep on rockin' Mr. Beck.

  • Rolling stone's list of greatest guitarists is all about INFLUENCE. It has nothing to do with actual technical skill, soul, or how good the music sounds. It's all about which guitarist caused the most change. Not which one ACTUALLY is the better player. Otherwise, why is B.B king ranked in the top 10?

  • This sucks dick like spammers suck dick.

  • Stevie is the greatst player of all time there is really no contest. He can play Hendrix better then Hendrix. He was to much of a gentleman though, when he played with people he looked up to live, he would not upstage them.

  • WOW Stevie Ray!!! Has so much natural soul, ah force of nature effortless!! He's #1 no matter what Rolling Stone lists says no one comes close!!!! Stevie Ray has more talent n his pinky then Beck n Clapton have put together!!!!

  • it's awesome that this video of jeff and stevie jamming even turned up.

anyone who uses it as an opportunity to bash either guitarist DOES NOT know how to use the internet correctly.

  • SRV all the way to Grandma's house!!

  • @fanofgreatguitarists AND YET, HERE HE IS GETTING HIS ASS SERVED BY STEVIE RAY

  • @fanofgreatguitarists Oh yeah, because those Rolling Stone's lists are truly what it's all about right?

  • @fanofgreatguitarists Stop shouting like an idiot. On the previous list Jeff was 12 or14 and Stevie 7. In the meantime neither did Beck get better nor Stevie got worse (he was dead before any of those lists came out). So calm down and use what's left of your brains: this list is retarded, lacks logic and serves only to raise the sales of a worthless lifestyle magazine. As for the RRHF–man, it has Madonna and a flock of rappers in it; now it’s a shame to be induced at all save two times

  • amazing, thanks 4 posting this video

  • Great track - great combo - great artists BUT just this week, I read where Rolling Stone magazine rated the top 10 guitarists ever and SRV did not make the list. WTF? The man was and still is a legend!!!

  • @MRCLINTFLICK He was 7th in the 2003 edition. And in the most recent one he's 12th. 12th is better than nothing. It would have been nice to see him in the top 10. But it really doesn't matter cause we really know just how good he is!!

  • @csi2448 Yeah man, WE know how fucking good he is - but obviously the judges don't have a clue. If he was 7th in 2003, how can he be demoted 5 places when none of the others have done a thing in that time to oust him from the top 10. It don't make sense.

Pete Townshend for fuck sake, that strumming one-string hack made the list and how can Keith Richards be regarded better than SRV or even Ritchie Blackmore and Tony Iommi. It is a joke of a list that I don't rate at all. Keep rockin' man!

  • @MRCLINTFLICK Innovation...nuff' said. Those guys helped pioneer music and the electric guitar. But let's not worry about petty shit like a 'who's the best guitarist list'. They don't mean jack squat. Stevie is THE man, and no list will tell me and any of his fans differently!

  • @csi2448 Better nothing than 12th. The "nothing" would have proved beyond reasonable doubt the total failure and complete retardedness of any such "list"

  • @Jesrama1 I'm just humble about the whole thing haha. I know any "list" is a total crock of bull but they exist for people to go completely crazy over so they can justify to themselves that their favorite guitarist is "better" than someone else's.

For example we have 'fanofgreatguitarists' with his whole CAPS LOCK rant below us about JB being the best guitarist ever...to each there own I guess

  • @csi2448 Agreed. Btw, people believing that “shouting” at the top of their lungs makes them more convincing crack me up as hell

  • @Jesrama1 But he's shouting man...come on now, don't you know that's how you have to get your point across these days! Hahaha

  • @csi2448 :)

  • Thank God the one camera was working......

  • Saw SRV/Beck at the Spectrum in Philly.

  • erm Im new girl in your class

  • Dayton '89. Best show ever. Then came Buckethead

  • what i cant believe is mtv was this fucking hot!!!! now we have italian midgets with big fake tits and walmart makeup fighting. something is wrong with our society. truly there is.

  • @megajames3000 I was at this show. Forking incredible..

  • @mrmorris5566 they must have changed your life. lucky!

  • @megajames3000 I know. What the fuck happened to MTV. It pisses me off actually. They need to stop calling themselves Music Television and change to something else.

I remember when I graduated high school in '93 and everything on MTV was good videos more or less. The hairbands were gone and Nirvana AMONGST others were making great music and Mtv was playing it all. All of the great guitarists were on there at that time.

  • @hydrocodone1 exactly. i just cant wait to see which of those jersey whores gets melanoma first and dies. sick fucks.

  • Thank you God.......

  • oh jeff looked a little lost if ya ask me, after all he is from afar, id rather see popa chubby than jeff

  • To Jesrama1: Yes, of course, makes sense. Perhaps I should have differentiated between "Best" or "Better" with "Legend". There is no doubt those at the top-"Cream of the Crop" or Legends if you will, will always have their fan base. I'm just sayin' why not just leave it at that? I think it was Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones that said "Rock and Roll was not something created to be analyzed, but enjoyed"-or some such comment.

  • @johnnysalvny I more than anyone else would like people to "leave it at that", believe me

  • Why can't we all just mature and cut the crap about "this one was/is better than that one". They are/were "best" in what they did. All borrowed from someone before them. Different generations will have their "favorite"(s). Praise and give them all their due and just move on and stay tuned for the next "Great" one is all I'm sayin'.

  • @johnnysalvny Theoretically very wise comment. The thing is that some of those guys are more than just "the next Great" and it is not easy to simply move to the next one

  • I saw SRV play maybe twenty-five years ago and the thing I remember was the strings he used to play. Now most famous guitarists use heavy-gauge strings because they sound better and stay in tune longer, but I NEVER saw strings like that before! They looked more like electric cables than they did strings! I think of the hand strength SRV had to have to play guitar every night for hours with those strings. Simply amazing!

  • Stevie Ray Vaughn Talent at it's finest. love Stevie like a little brother even though I was born in 1980

  • I saw them on this tour at Cobo in Detroit.

One of the best concerts I've ever seen.

First SRV did his set, then Jeff Beck did his set, then as an encore they both got on stage and played this tune.

  • JESUS MARY AND JOSEPH! Is there an mp3 of this anywhere or will i have to carry my laptop around for the rest of my life? God Stevie we miss you bro and Beck, that took balls man you looked a little in awe once or twice.

  • ey sharing fantasies and if possible put them into practice

  • Poor beck...he must be like, "How the hell am I gonna top this guy.."

  • ..if music was a disease, this is where you would get it from. ......and I still have it in Oak Cliff :]

  • My 2 favorite guitar heroes! nobody else comes close!

  • One legend showing another legend that he's not even in the same league!! WE MISS YOU STEVIE!!!!

  • @lacnick33 I LIKE HOW SOME PEOPLE THINK CERTAIN GUITARISTS ARE BEST JUST BECAUSE OF A MAGAZINES OPINION.

i ALSO LIKE HOW THEY USE ALL CAPS TO TRY AND DRAW ATTENTION TO THEIR STUPID REMARKS.

  • @lacnick33 Right on! STEVIE OWNS BECK!! And I like how some people think that a certain guitarist is best just because a magazines opinion says so.

  • @lorddarkeet If I could have made my way through the massive crowd of Beck fans at the newsstand I woulda got a magazine about him. LOL!!!!!!!!!!

  • @lacnick33 If I could have made my way through the crowd of Beiber fans at the newsstand, I would NOT have got a magazine about him.

It's been proven the majority of the earths population are morons.

  • @lacnick33 my religion is music M.U.S.I.C>

  • Mad respect for Beck for even having the guts to get on the stage with Stevie.Like walking into a lion's den....he's an ANIMAL!!!!!

  • Saw them together in Austin. The roof had to be reinforced so it didn't blow off. Powerful stuff.

  • I can't believe that's an MTV logo up there

  • oh my....

  • @lensinilas On how to take a break from guitar playing during guitar playing? Lol

  • Moral of this performance: you can't play guitar.

  • What does Mtv mean ?

  • WTFFF! MTV!?

  • @jarkanciofan MUST have been way back when I was in high school (80's), when they actually played music videos instead of all this "reality" SHIT on every other damned channel. I'd haved given BOTH my nuts to have seen that concert - hey, I'm married afterall. Who needs them? :)

  • love it..rip srv.

  • Probably my 2 favorite guitar players of all time......throw in Rory Gallagher to round out the 3 favorites.

  • or somethin,huh?

  • Fantastico. Duas lendas fazendo num super som.

  • beck gets his ass kicked

  • @GugiMandini Jeff beck is a legend but Stevie ray is legend of legends xD

  • i dont get whats so great about Jeff Beck...

  • what i still can't believe is that it's been 21 years stevie's been gone now, and there's nobody---zip-- who's been as good since. joe bonamassa approaches, but no quantum leap as it was with srv. god bless, old friend. you are missed....

  • @vaichild Nonsense. There's no criterion/standard for "better". It's all subjective. To me Hendrix doesn't even compare to SRV

  • @RandomActionAlliance Kenny Wayne Shepherd plays is though SRV was the one and ONLY guitar player he'd heard in his life. Far from Stevie’s hypnotic charisma but all in all rather enjoyable

  • @77gitrzan wait till you hear Lukas Nelson hes coming along and will approach SRV. RIP SRV

  • @77gitrzan I saw him at the kalamazoo county fair 2 days before he died. I will never forget it.. lots of love Steveie RIP.. Beck just gets better with age but Vaughn had the raw energy thats hard that is only had by recalling the emotion of being jettisoned from the womb without any users manual

  • @glutamine001 *VaughAn

  • fuck justin bieber fuck gay z fuck 50 cent fuck justin timberlake fuck hiphop

  • @ptel74 could not have said it better myself. what was it Ozzy said? oh yes..... " what the fuck is a bieber "

  • just imagining this in 1080p

  • wow two GODS,all i can say is Stevies G string is wound,Jeffs is'nt,a lighter string you see.this is fire power here!!!!!

  • Brilliant!

  • Yes, Gods !!!

  • Gods!

  • I'll never be able to listen to another version of this song. It just wouldn't measure up.

  • Sorry but I never got Beck.

  • @MrArtist1971 Hey. I think out of all of the great guitarists, Jeff Beck just has to be heard live. You might not like all the music selections he plays, but if you love great guitar, you'll love every song.

  • I saw this tour at the USF Sundome in Tampa. Jeff Beck opened up for Stevie Ray Vaughan. It was awesome! They got up and played this together as the last song of Stevie's set. Jeff broke a string, threw his guitar down, hugged Stevie and walked off the stage. It was Stevie's last tour.

  • Wow thanks for posting this. It is great to see two guitar legends playing a wicked awesome version of Freddie King's killer song Going Down. Getting to see SRV and JB in aciton together does not get much better than that. Great capture.

  • @Wintersteel747

IIt's a Don Nix not a Freddy King song that at one time became kind of Jeff Beck's signature. Stevie learned it especially for this tour

  • @5507156693 True without a doubt Mr. Nix is a master songsmith, producer, & arranger of uber caliber. As this song is a testimony to his exceptional craftsmanship. But it would be very egregious not to acknowledge Freddie King’s role in bringing the song to public prominence by recording it.

  • @Wintersteel747

Never meant to cast doubt on Mr. King's contributions and accomplishments; only wanted to set things straight just in case someone might be oblivious to the real facts. For instance, I adore Ray Charles' version of "Georgia on My Mind" but never shy away from pointing out to the poor in knowledge that the song was actually created by the great Hoagy Carmichael. We should all strive for knowledge and excellence, shouldn’t we…:)

  • @5507156693 Yes we should all strive for excellence. And in striving for excellence and knowledge in setting the record straight one should not be leaving out pertinent facts about said compositions. Such as not recognizing Freddie King’s major contribution in popularizing this song that Mr. Nix composed so masterfully if boarding musical consciousness is your goal. For 100,000’s of us musicians Freddie King was the source for learning this song. Thanks for the FYI on Mr. Don Nix…:)

  • @Wintersteel747 Do I rightly sense an undertone of spite in your reply?? As I explicitly stated I don't question Freddy’s (musical) accomplishments and contributions (to this song’s popularity). FYI I'm an avid listener of his. Clarifying a point doesn't mean coming up with animosity against a widely recognized Master of the Blues guitar. I think I made that obvious

  • Stumbled on this for the first time this morning. I remember when this tour came around and I didn't go. What the hell was I thinking?!?! Jeff is one of my all time favorite players and thankfully he is still out there playing some mean guitar, but oh my God do I miss Stevie. So amazing.

  • I thought this was gonna be one of those gay ass comparison videos... now, I've gotta clean all the jizz off my keyboard.

  • @ChickenFaeces too bleepin' funny

  • @airbornejim1509

I said "jizz", dude, I think it's cool for you to say "fuckin"

  • Forget who's better. Either way -- This is THE best video on youtube. Proof @ 1:20. What he just did to his guitar there was straight disrespectful. But in a just make-it-sound-so-good-it-doesn't-make-sense ridiculous way. Many thumbs up.

  • Jeff Beck trying to catch up?

  • Was this early MTV B4 the Porch Monkeys took it over?

  • i cant belive this is mtv.

  • Wow!!!! That is all!

  • Musically, artistically, melodically, tonally, Stevie is the superior talent. Beck pales beside him.

  • * I enloy playing drums on this as well as singing lead vocal to this old Don Nix song ! Goin Down !

  • Thanks for the correction, I remembered the name Tench but all my vinyl LP's are boxed up, I have a USB turntable and have loaded the songs into I-Tunes. I have been playing lead guitar for 52 years and count Jeff Beck as my favorite, but how do you pick a best with so much pure talent to choose from. For every player we can name someone else can name 10 more also greats that we may not have even heard of. Check out a cat named Buddy Whittington, He did several tours with John Mayal, Scott M

  • No matter how SRV plays, no matter how many notes he's squeezing in, he seems to be working at half speeed. As if he's just having fun, sitting in the rocking chair, that if he actually got serious about the whole thing, he'd just blow your GD head off.

  • Blinding strat fireworks... They dont make them like these 2 guys anymore

  • Freaking AWESOME!!!!

  • TOO MUCH SWAG

  • @AXmichigan: Perhaps you meant to say "Someone as influential as Clapton is DEFINITELY (as opposed to deFIANtly?) no average guitar player" (that's 2 words). I suppose defiantly could work too, though. LOL.

  • that is by far some of the best guitar playing that ive ever heard

  • 44 dislikes are you kidding me unless you are an ex girlfriend or or can play a guitar to a fraction of what these guys can do or have done RIP get a clue

  • Why did they ever stop making videos for peep to watch. They have great tunes on Cable and a blank phuckin' screen. Bring me back my old MTV!!!!!!

  • Great song,two amazing guitarists.Love it.

  • Saw this co billed extravaganza in Louiseville Ky in 89, Beck opened and he was incredible. Waited a lifetime to see him. Yet, having seen SRV four times prior, I expected to see a standard SRV set. As Mr. Vaughan opened with The House is Rockin, within seconds, I knew that this would be no typical SRV show. He blew the f..king roof off the arena. Tone, Soul, Fire and a take no prisoners attitude.I almost felt sorry for Jeff.

  • To think Stevie didn't pass music theory in school makes it even more legendary..

  • Met Stevie in 81 or 82 at small club in N.J...Sat next to him as he tuned up during intermission..HAD NO idea who he was. "you're really good!" I s
