  • TURDZ by Sweaty Ballz

  • I fucking love the fact that I have one of the best recordings of this set out there. I can watch the video with the recording, it's so fucking sweet.

  • It's a shame he only got to play for an hour, a 3 hour set would have been majestic.

  • My god, i wish i was one of those furry animals, I saw him at bloc 2009 and think i went crazy after Richard's set. Aphex Rules!

  • i love how he just stands there so casual busting out this crazy shit

  • which songs is it?

  • at the end of the set he was doing 200bpm, the crowd was wild

  • 0:55 it sounds like he can't decide on a radio station

  • So, RDJ is back to doing what he used to do before anyone had heard of him: DJing other peoples songs with kickass unreleased tracks thrown in.

  • damn i need to know the first track and the one at 5:31 , anybody?

  • i think this is live and not on any cd

  • a good video: great summary of the set it seems, I wasn't there so it's sic to see all the tracks lined up like this

  • Thanks :) Making a 'summary' of this set was tough, as the whole set was absolutely wickedly insane :)

  • name of song at 5:31?

  • Vertigo - the drained

  • Yes - totally great. Dance musics only true genius? The old jungle stuff he does is sometimes tiresome. Would like to see him booked to do more techno/electro angled sets. Bored of Hawtin et al. And Mills is stuck in the 90s.

  • name of track one plz. (as soon as it's known)

  • Good set, like his Manchester one,but the one he did at Oxegen blows em both away for sheer energy

  • i think that aphex started off shitty and then got ammazing

  • he has always been amazing. He is probobly one of the most talented people on the face of the earth.

  • Furries like RDJ?

  • TROLL FAILED

  • DIE FURFAGS

  • whats the name of the first 3 tracks?

  • Ok the second is by Gregor Thresher...maybe the first by LFO?

  • i dont think LFO, people stil havent identified it, and a lot of people are working hard to do so. theres some speculation it may be unreleased aphex

  • Grrr i need the Chop Suey remix

  • damn thats some remix, gotta get my hands on that, thanks a lot man.

  • Anyone know the name of the track he drops at 3:28?

  • It's called Drop Suey (unofficial remix of System of a Down's Chop Suey), it is not known who the artist is. It is only available as a B-side to another bootleg song, Get The Fuck Up. Quite intriguing eh...

  • Ye Gads...... What manner of lunacy is this!!

  • I think the set was brilliant, been listening to it on my ipod a lot. I love his own stuff as well but his mixes are so varied. Looking forward to seeing him next month, hope its not full of people shouting 'play come to daddy and windowlicker' constantly.

  • Recorded on Phone or downloadable? Quality any good?

  • oxegen wooooooo cant wait

  • Could someone tell me what the very first song in this video is? (~12:18-14:30 on the actual set)

  • whats the name of the song at 1:15? its such a sick banger

  • wtf i was there and this set was completely epic!

  • I was at the show and pretty disappointed too. I thought it would be a lot better. At least almost every other act in the Sahara tent were completely epic.

  • And i mean come on if you were perfectly capable of making new amazing electronic music to make peoples head spin and you choose to DJ instead, wouldn't that mean you were kind of over it?

For me personally its pretty clear and i think the only people who think hes 'extremely active' these days in the scene are just not paying any attention

  • 3/10

  • too bad hes too lazy to play out his own stuff anymore. these dj sets he plays are just really beneath how talanted the guy is. but hes making money off of doing practically nothing, smart move on his part

  • Well, rehashing his own shit is actually much EASIER than finding cool new things, eh?

  • rehashing? what do you call djing other peoples music?

id personally much rather hear him do NEW songs of his that arent released yet. Autechre just toured and their entire set was exclusive and unreleased new material by them.

  • and yeah ill say again if i was him and kind of done with the electronic music scene (which he clearly is) then i would probably not want to put the effort into playing out my own stuff and just dj other peoples instead. Its a hell of a lot easier and you cash a fat pay check for doing very little on stage.

  • Well, you gotta distinguish between "playing his own shit" and "creating new shit". It would be cool if he made a new album, but that is MUCH tougher and requires, you know, inspiration. As to "playing his own OLD shit" - it is EASIER than dj-ing, cause he can just put his own CD in the player and leave. And that would have NO value at all.

  • no he could DJ his own stuff on vinyl, which would be putting in the same amount of effort as hes doing here. OR what most electronic musicians do, play selections from their catalogue with live variations in the tracks, i would much prefer he do that because well i like Aphex alot more than what he likes to DJ. I am a huge aphex twin fan. And he also hasnt played out very much anything from Druqks, Analord ,Rushup Edge or Trough so i think people would love to hear those on a big system

  • what i dont understand is why on earth would you prefer Aphex plays out other peoples material if you are an aphex twin fan (which im assuming you are)? maybe you can answer that for me.

  • "what i dont understand is why on earth would you prefer Aphex plays out other peoples material if you are an aphex twin fan (which im assuming you are)?"

Because his musical TASTE is also unique, and his selection of stuff to play is interesting and enriching. I'm his huge fan, but I can listen to his albums at home - and slight live variations add less value than the new stuff he dropped on us at Coachella.

  • for me its awesome to hear his taste in other music, especially the old classics he played which ive never heard, awesome set.

  • "if i was him and kind of done with the electronic music scene (which he clearly is)"

What makes you say that? Just your own out-of-ass guessing?

  • no, ive just been keeping upon the man's career.

do some reading about what hes been up to lately, and frankly it hasnt been much. Hes playeda handfull of gigs in the last 3 years, the newest release he did was a 6 track Lp 'Rushup Edge' that while awesome was material dating back to 2004-5. He's also a father now and that is probably changing his priorities a little bit understandably.

  • he's a dad??? when did this happen? haha i remember i read in an interview and he mentioned possibly having kids and i thought that would never happen.

  • i read the interview as well and thought the same thing as "kyledrums". where'd you find out about this?

  • it was amazin, he started off just pressin buttons but like it started gettin better and better until it was the best ive ever heard. IT WAS INSANE!!!!!!!!!

  • i danced I danced !!! until my feet fell off.

  • This was my personal highlight of Coachella.

  • Man, the first track that furry animals dance to is fucking insane. An ID would be greatly appreciated.

  • Holy shit, he played Gregor Tresher's "One Thousand Nights." I reckoned he would consider that sort of sound to be too recycled and generic.

  • Ed Banger hipsters ruined the vibe for most people.

  • They were In the crowd too, and they were totally into it!

  • Here, here!

  • I reckon he's more of a sound artist than a DJ....pity about the crowd to many americans!

  • it was in america u fuckin douche bag!!

  • THis looks like it was amazing!!!

  • that last comment was directed at doastdeef.

  • It was so packed in there, I thought I was going to die. Definitely the highlight of the Sahara tent last weekend and a strong contender for highlight of the weekend!! Amazing.

  • my friend billy was at this!, hopefully by some miracle, I can get a ticket for t in the park to see him play

  • you lucky fuck...

  • i don't think anybody could have jumped through such great songs in so many different genres in such a short time.

    amazing.

  • amazing

  • i loved this live...especially the screens

  • Great performance, but the crowd was horrible! There wasn't anyone dancing even halfway back.

  • The question is, how in the world does one dance to Aphex Twin song? Everytime I've tried I end up with an abbreviated disk.

  • like the furry animals dancing at the end of this video...

with a f*ckin costume and xtasy

that's the proper way to dance at aphex twin

  • Have you even listened to the set? Jesus, no one knows how to move anymore. Completely danceable.

  • i agree... the crowd was very weak through almost the whole thing... they showed a little energy at the end when it got insane, but still... pretty pathetic crowd.

obvious reason: a bunch of casual fans who had maybe heard of him, but very few diehard fans. and an LA crowd which is something that speaks for itself...

still fun though in spite all the them!

  • the crowd was so lam to many freaking hippies the aphex twins are to hard for some peoples ears, he should have been at ultra the crowd would have gone NUTS

  • The Aphex Twins?

    Are you retarded?

    It's Aphex Twin.

  • "the aphex twins"

  • definitely in my top 3 performances at Coachella 2008! that was some of the grimiest bass i've ever heard.

  • simplemente lo mejor del fin

lo chingón fue que empezó bien cagado y justo a la mitad se maniacó

  • LOL AT THE DANCING MASCOTS

  • Anyone know what that first track is?

  • Been ages since I've seen him play out!

  • how long did he play for?

  • 1hr - 1st 1/2 was "a journey into sound" history lesson - last 20 mins were what I came for - mind F*ck Paradox, Current Vallue, etc jamz

  • do u know the name of the first two songs?

  • The very 1st track he played was the start of "Welcome to the Terrordome" by Public Enemy.

  • The ending was fucking psychotic!!

  • one of the best performances of the weekend

  • Simply amazing

I could only imagine how much more awesome being there was...

  • It's 8 minutes dude.

  • awesome vid! thanks!

  • damn im so jealous

    thanks for posting :)

  • I didn't even know it's current value :) Nice to know.

But boy, how intense is he.

  • yes! i love the last track he plays by current value. that's amazing to hear him dj it!
