Also, there are a pool of "expert" doctors that make their living testifying against other doctors. 80 year old eye surgeons who have never done lasik but think that "all lasik surgery is bad and shouldn't be done. Plastic surgeons who will testify that no patient should get cosmetic surgery. You would be surprised what people will do for money...

@SuperGeneralsurgeon I agree with you. In fact, I think it's inappropriate for an attorney to select a doctor who does not actively practice does not perform the type of procedure that occurred in a particular case. Such an “expert” loses credibility with a jury when it is revealed that he is retired and no longer practices this type of procedure.
