The puppies are adorable, but Mom is GORGEOUS. Was she a racer? Was she good? I love how nicely your treat your dogs, the racing industry is usually so cruel.

Reality is that in the US, breeding and racing are big business. No place for all the loosers. No place for the pups that are just too slow or just don't "get it". No place for the tens of thousands of young adults (manditory retirement at 5 years) that are too slow, never enough homes for all the retired racers. Lure coursing with an artificial lure is a good excersize for a retired dog. Many clubs exist in the USA. Vote NO, to greyhound racing in your state.

Thanks for posting the vid. I adopted a retired racer here in The States. It's interesting to see what racing is like in other parts of the world. Glad to see it is more of a hobby in Finland and that they are cherished family members.

Looks like the only way mom can try to get some rest is by RUNNING! Greyhound pups are craaazzzy! So I take it you're breeders? Do you breed them for the track?

Yes, really small scale breeders - maybe one litter per year. I hope these pups come to tracks next summer - so yes. They look strong, happy and very promising. Big thanks to their owners!

In Finland, people buy racing greyhound first as a pet, race with them as a hobby, and when the dog is too old to race... nothing changes. They're still loved familypets :)

i had a border collie crossed with a huski and a bit of alsation. we had to have him put down just after christmas because he had a lump. i am thinking of getting a rescue greyhound/lurcher/whippet. any pointers/recommendations? i have heard that they are great dogs. thanks

My greyhound, Zeke, has been retired from racing in the US for about a year and 2 months now. He's been doing excellent adapting to home life. But for the first time the other day I saw him fanny-bump another (18 mo. old) puppy he was play-racing! I wish there was a "for fun" race he can participate in. He seems to miss the competition. I'd say not enough to go back to pro racing, but a fun-run race now and then would make his month! Do you have trouble finding homes for the pups? SO CUTE!

Yes, hope they all hit the racing tracks some day. But racing is just a hobby here in finland, and greyhounds are pets and family members to us... so guess I say pets & racers. :)

They all look good... cannot say which one is the best!
