  • One of my old high school teachers would play a song before class every day. On the day we learned about the stone age (invention of the wheel) she played this song. It was, for the entirety of the school year, caught in my head. Guess which student was a class favorite?

  • On this date in 1957 {Feb. 23rd} "Round and Round" entered Billboard's Most Played by Jockeys; on April 13th it peaked at #1 {for 2 weeks} and spent 29 weeks in the Top 100, was also the groups debut record on the charts.

    Ranked 10th on Billboard's Year-End Hot 100 Singles of 1957 chart...

  • This song is an interesting arrangement. It starts with a solo drum brush, then joined by bass, then joined by guitar, then added male chorus solo, then female chorus solo, then male and female chorus. It exits by dropping the chorus, then guitar, then bass and again solo drum brush.

Catch a Fallen Star has a similar arrangement.

  • love it!

  • this song makes you just feel damn good. and to think he was going to be a barber !!!!

  • MOM DAD UNCLE TONY AUNT ROSE 1957

  • Blast from the past anyone?

  • The man is like buttah. His voice is like buttah.

  • Funny, I stumbled over this and I find myself humming it every morning on the way to work :)

  • What a neat song.

  • @Taylorlautnerfan2111. I used to sing this in the car when I was in 5th grade. 1:43" in the night you see the oval moon"....that's the best part, always was in my mind.

  • This song is on Blast from the Past.... I could just die... lol

  • @jramos000 lol brought me here too

  • UFOs have been Tinkerbelling with people since the first human reared its cannibal head. As Hitler showed us, humans are mostly animal DNA. The Missing Link. Jiminy Crick-ET (see DNA geniuses Crick and Watson, Disease Meister Walt Dis-ney) sings always go against science - con-science. That's your Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. Thanks, Uncle Walt, for allowing me to talk to the animals. Sorry that nothing worked on the Doctor Dolittles. Most people's lives are great disappointments to them.

  • Someone on oldies radio a few years back started to call this a "novelty" tune. This is NOT a novelty song. A song sung "in the round" is not novel. This is one my favorite Como efforts. Now "Papa Loves Mombo" IS a novelty tune.

  • memories !!!!

  • I remember the old Perry Como show quite well.....even bofore the Kraft Music Hall. He was always a favorite of my parents'.

  • Frank Sinatra didn't want to sing "My Way".

  • Patsy Cline hated "Crazy". It is still considered her signature piece. Just goes to show that even the artist does not know which songs will make them famous...

  • belive it or not.......he hated this song

  • What a smooth voice.

  • Better music, better times.

  • Looks like someone has watched Blast From The Past.

  • A songs about the innocence of romance and the joy of seeing it fulfilled with marriage. Such sentiments are not only impugned but are mostly forbidden in today's music.

  • I remember watching his first color tv show in 1957 singing this song with his guest at that time Hedy Lamarr, and they sang it as a duet...Imagine that and Hedy too. Wish could see that show again on youtube

  • haha lol

  • Perry Como could hit notes so effortlessly that he made you feel good just to watch him sing. He, Dean Martin, Andy Williams and Roger Whitaker were all able to do this. It just came so naturally to them, and they pass it along to their audiences.

  • Anybody else remember that this tune was used in a Schaeffer Beer commercial in the 60's? "Grab a beer and pass it round and round...." yet another happy memory of that era.

  • I'm 52 and this is one of the first songs I remember my Dad playing. I've loved it ever since and, while I grew to love rock, country and blues music, I've never tired of this gem. You can't be sad when you listen to this. A reminder of a gentler more civilised time.

  • Pleasant, peppy, & smooth as the man himself.

  • Billboard's 20th #1 hit of the rock erra. God bless! RIP, Mr. C!

  • This was performed when you didn't have to worry about offending anyone or the ratings....a beautiful song for a beautiful time...

  • This is my favorite song of all time! The things that I could do with this song in the background... *blush*

  • @Tricorvus Go rollerskating in a real nice hall? Yeah, me too!

  • Thanks for this old favorite by Perry.

  • Como was a fantastick singer. A voice for the ages.

  • i will always love this song. i wish someone would make a song like this in this day and age.

  • @happy241982able Good one! I'm thinkin Josh Grobin or Darius Rucker or maybe even Toby Keith could tackle it.

  • This is the best song ever. I can never get sick of it.

"1:26 is where it REALLY picks up.

    I could just die!"

  • @Taylorlautnerfan211 Blast from the past. I laughed so hard yesterday at exactly that line. I am 35 hahahaha lol.

  • @Taylorlautnerfan211 I love Adam!

  • @Taylorlautnerfan211 You sound like the guy from the movie "Blast from the Past".

  • @Taylorlautnerfan211 "Blast from the past" funny flick and good scene!!

  • @Taylorlautnerfan211 HAHA ITS A BLAST FROM THE PAST LOL

  • @Taylorlautnerfan211 This song was written Joe Shapiro, my English teacher at Lafayette High School in Brooklyn, New York. He also wrote "Treasure of Love" and "Think Twice." The guy was a real character...looked like the classic absent-minded English professor yet he wrote rock 'n' roll songs! He used to say that whenver he was in a luncheonette or restaurant and they played that song on the radio or jukebox he felt like jumping up and saying "That's my song!"

  • @Taylorlautnerfan211 LOL that was a "blast from the past" ;)
