Nice video, 5*. I've also played this game a lot. Civ 2 was much worse than this one, although Civ 3 was slightly better. But Civ 1 can now be played on lots of platforms w/ DOSBox perfectly, even on S60-based smartphones. I've recently tested the game on my Nokia E51, and it worked flawlessly, so for me it's now "Pocket" Civilization too!

I used DOSBox, which is a DOS Emulator that allows you to play DOS games perfectly (or near perfectly) on modern machines.

download civilization from bestoldgames dott nett then download dosbox run it and type mount c c:\games\whereyouinstallciv

then c: and then civ. so 3 commands in all. to bad sid meier had to ruin the game with 3d view and the mess that is civ4

You DO NOT know how to play this game. You have FOUR militia in a city that's only TWO in size, that just takes two of your production rescources away. You have Bronze working for ***ks sake, Building one phalax will do better than your stupid militia.

Also, that theft device they put in the game, (asking you about technologies from pages in the manual) can easily be found online. Off the top of my head physics is the first one that takes i believe mysticsm and math and the next one was industrialization which takes Railroad and Banking I believe.

wow great game, I still play it all the time on my dos-box, along with the original colonization and Jones in the Fast lane....that's right. Not trying to be rude or anything but you really are terrible at this game. You put WAY to man units in your city, one militia and start pumping out settlers to expand your empire with irrigation, roads, and more cities. That's always your first priority. You play like that on Prince or harder your dead.

Ha, in the beginning when he first builds his city, he has a "horse resource" in his city, but he uses a normal grassland instead!
