It makes me feel sad that in the end, the King just wants to be loved. He didn't really kill the queen, and he didn't really want to kill Chief (only put the sword thru his shoulder blade). After all Chief had done, when he appeared in front of the king, all he said was 'where have you been' with a smile. I guess it's a bitter feeling not loved back by the love of his life, like everyone else, he just wants to be loved. Altho, not everyone will castrate people when not loved.

I feel like the king is very ignorant or stupid that he ordered the queen and Hong Lim to have sex in order to have an heir. K is so tolerate when he knows everything but doesn't act because he believes in the love and HL will be come back. He's smart but he made a huge mistake at the beginning when he hands his lover to Q. He uses Q's head to lust HL come back to meet him but he is wrong when he just keep silence about the truth. He is a king but he dares to exchange his throne to love. He is tolerate to defend in the battle but he can't stay calm when his most meaningful painting is cut.For me, this is 10 out of 10.

During his kingdom years, he never got to experience anything with girls so he was obligated to love the King. He didn't know what "love" was until he met the Queen. I do believe he loved them both but the King was more of a "friendship" love. The movie was a bit distrubing but overall it was good. Great actors and great ending.

I only feel sorry for the king in he sense that he's a bit of a spoiled brat. He's trying to force people to fit into the roles he's assigned them.Then he uses them for his own benefit (making Hong sleep with the Queen) and doesn't expect any consequences. The ultimate moral here (and one that I think people consistently overlook sadly) is that you can't twist around the rules of love and relationships and think that everything will remain normal, balanced, and positive.
hands off the little boys - let them grow up first and decide who they really are... everything in the end is bound to happen. It's clear that Hong loves the Queen... and he is a man, forced to stay by the king's side and give/receive pleasure from him at a young age... the presence of a woman, made him realize what he truly wants and who he truly is... I can say that he may not be gay after all... the King was the one who taught him love by giving Hong the Queen.

i understand why the king did all this. i mean not only was a member of his personal guard not supposed to have any relationships, but the man in question was also his 'lover'. if that wasnt enough, he had a relationship with the king's wife. it was enough to make him go mad

I mean not to the extent of going crazy, but pretty angry. I also see it from the queen's view. she was being used by the king and i felt pity for her. Sorry, no matter how you dress it up r what delusional romantic spin some peeps may want to apply... the much older king abused and molested the younger boys under his warped so-called protection....I thought the movie was excellent, but refuse to to be blinded to the reality of the tragedy.

quickly ended when the mad king castrated him, killed his friends & he thought the queen... & stuck their heads on pikes over the city walls. Like he told the king in their death duel..."I've been cut 2 the root, there is nothing 4 me 2 FEAR anymore" then he said" u led me 2 feel love & I couldn't be more grateful". Meaning under the king's orders to sleep w/ the queen & never being allowed 2 know any better then the king's warped palace existence.(cont)

@xStranger.. beg to differ ^-^. Hong lim & the other little boys were raised knowing they were sacrifices/toys of/for the king. One of the 1st scenes was a young guard, acting on his natural/normal instincts, tried 2 escape w/ his love/woman & was sentenced 2 die because he dared 2 want a normal life. HL liked/feared the king (it's called survival) & had accepted what he couldn't change, then used his position 2 protect his brothers n arms. But any sense of loyalty/feelings r even fear (cont)

the king is so selfish, but i can see why. i mean the person he loved the most betrayed him for his supposed wife. what's most sad is that even til death, chief hong chose the king but didn't want to admit it. (it also symbolizes that the king didn't kill the queen.) plus there were shit loads of metaphors, foreshadowing, and symbolism which i love. <3 best movie ever
