  • i have been doing these exercises for about 2 wks and even counting my calories each day, but i havent lost any weight this past week and a half...is tht ok since im just starting i need some help and advise plz =) thanks i would really appreciate it

  • Just finished this after doing day 1 of the swimsuit bootcamp. Phew! THANK YOU! This is the jumpstart I needed to get rid of this post-baby pooch :-) Question: Should I work my abs every day?

  • No. You should do plenty of cardio though cause it burns off fat. If you over work your abs it won't have time to burn off all the fat and it'll just build muscle under the fat and make your stomach look bigger.

  • @marimositaable Your legs and hip flexors are working during this routine, so yes!

  • These exercises strengthen and tone the abs and core muscles, but that does NOT burn fat if you have body fat on top of them. Cardio is key for fat loss!

    Cardio should be done first, simply because working your abs first may cause you to cramp up during a cardio workout.

  • these workouts really work!!!! I have been doing lots of sparkpeople exercises (at least an hour a day if i dnt get to walk outside) since the summer and i have lost almost 15 pounds!! A long way to my goal (i like all the food thts bad for you! :-) ) but its a start. Thx sparkpeople!!!

  • @sparkpeople hi spark peol looking to lose weight and found you the other this is my 2nd workout with one day in between wan't to lose 10 pounds i am 155 and 5'1 how of ten should i do this?

  • My right hip pops every time I lift up or go down on most of these exercises. It doesn't hurt but the pop is really loud and it feels weird. Could it be something I'm doing wrong?

    Anyway, great videos. I took pilates years ago and it is a great work out. Thanks!

  • I just started it and I had to stop because of my lower back. I can't lean back like that because my lower spine clicks, kinda hurts pretty bad after awhile :(, oh well, *grabs jumprope* Not going to let that stop me :) !

  • If it hurts your back, definitely stop. Make sure your form is correct as described in the video and that you'll engaging your abs (pulling your belly button toward your spine) during the exercises. Also, only work through a range of motion that you CAN do in good form and without pain. Even if it's small, you will still benefit.

  • Ask your doctor what kind of exercise is safe for you. In general, cardio burns belly fat, not abs exercises.

  • That is tough. All back problems are different so I couldn't give specific advice, but if it hurts, stop. Also, if your doctor has given you advice to avoid certain movements and you see them here, please avoid them. Hope that helps!

  • My stomach hurts But my wrists and shoulders are killing me. The exercise where you swing your arm and leg out really hurts my wrists.

  • Try to neutralize your wrists by making fists and placing your knuckles to the ground instead of the palms of your hands. Also, make sure your weight is evenly distributed--not leaning too much in your arms or hands.

  • when i do crunches or any of these excercises my tail bone really presses into the mat, is it okay to use extra cushioning like a pillow?

  • when i do side planks my wrist hurts realllllyy bad, i have no idea why and i know i am not leaning too much on it and once i tried with a pillow under my wrist but it still really hurt. is there a reason for this?

  • Mine do too. I can't do push-ups normally. For me, it's because my wrists can't bend like like. I either use a dumbell OR double-up my hand into a fist. Try that and see if it helps.

  • I've just tried this. They are cool excercises, but the area between my upper legs and my hips hurts unbelievably during most of them. Not sure this is a good sign.

  • Your hips are part of your core muscles. On the seated exercises at the beginning, they're working overtime in addition to the abs.

  • I understand that but I am concerned because this area hurts so much and I am feeling little in the abs. My abs are used to lots and lots of crunches and Pilates style abs excercises, that's why I am surprised about the effect of these excercises.

  • For the exercises, is your lower back area supposed to hurt some? Is there a muscle there? And also, when I'm on the hands-and-knees exercises, my arms seem to be working more than my abs.

And I love Nicole, she is a real person as opposed to the blonde, too thin and barely dressed 'fitness instructors' I've seen in other videos. She's the real deal.

  • Your hips are working hard to keep your legs together and your feet on the floor. What you most likely feel is exhaustion in those muscles, but over time, they will get stronger!

  • don't forget protein, and fiber and if you must eat fat, make sure it is polyunsaturated (like olive oil). also walk where ever you go (if possible) because walking is one of the fastest and best ways to lose weight!

  • I found it was more efficient when I lost a bunch of weight to use a counting calorie method. I've been able to eat all the foods I normally eat by counting calories (or sticking to serving portions), and I've even found healthier alternatives as well. Just a general rule to keep in mind if you stick to this: drink water, choose diet soda, if you have desserts or snacks choose sugar free and healthy alternatives to M&Ms and Butterfinger bars, also check fat content (sugars from fat) as well.

  • Eat what you always eat but eat less of it and get 5 serving of fru/veg. DOn't over do it. Take in lean meat and drink only water and soymilk or reg milk. Reduce white bread etc..eat more fiber. Keep working out!
