@TTranCool Make the roof of the spawning rooms 2 blocks above the floor so that the endermen won't spawn and then destroy your creation by picking up random blocks that DOESN'T BELONG TO THEM. DO YOU HEAR THAT ENDERMAN? I'M ON TO YOU.

Today, 24th of August 2011 me and two friends completed this trap and it works like a charm. Just wanted to let you know no patch has ruined the mechanics in any way. We play SMP though so we built the canals before the roof. Do the same if you can't set it to peaceful! It WILL be impossible to work if you don't put out a couple of hundred torches covering every inch.

@WizPokai It's just a drawing of mine tunnels to find caves. You make paths across the entire thing at different hights, then you put torches in all the caves so monsters can't spawn there. Paths are dug with 10 blocks in between at hight and 20 in width from each other. You can also blow up all ground beneath the trap if you have unlimited TNT. You want lit up space under the trap, how you get it is up to you.

I started this 3 days ago, still haven't finished but im out of cobble. i started with 5 doublechest of cobble: not enough, got back by digging down for the caves and diamond mine. also to find the caves i kinda cheated cus i used a "x-ray" texture pack to find caves easily.

But guys, if you wann do this, you need a motherload of cobble!!

What I started to do was digging from the corner 150 blocks each layer, leaving 1 block of space between the layers (the first one had some diamonds, the second layer has a huge cave system that It took some time to clear some of it.

Am I doing it right?

there's a easier way to be sure you have some caves under your squares, you just make your square, than you go like 20 blocs under the surface and you blow a 74x74 square with TNT. so u have a great cave and a lot of air. i'm french so i think there might be a few mistakes so forgive me. :)

@WizPokai It's basically showing you how to dig under your mob trap to make sure there are absolutely no cave systems. Dig a tunnel every 3 blocks in layers 10 and 11 in the same fashion kiershar does in his diamond finding videos, and make sure each tunnel is 150 blocks long to cover the entire area where mobs spawn. And then on the above layers do the same thing but skipping a few more blocks between the tunnels. I hope you understand it better now!

@goldendeagle300 As far as i know, the frame is not necessary for the trap, but it marks the area where mobs can spawn if you stand in the middle of the frame. by building the frame and covering in halfblocks (slabs) you ensure that all the mobs will spawn inside the trap.

I had a lot of cobblestone on my hands so I decided to make this, however, after making the box I decided to get a refill and search for some gold for power rails. I dug in an old cave system I found and wouldn't you know it, I found a dungeon, and a skeleton dungeon at that. I figured, "The only reason I'm making this is for creepers and skeletons, and I found skeletons, so why not use the arrows from the skeletons to hunt the creepers?" Much easier.

I dont understand the method you used for clearing out caves. so I dig down 20 blocks, and start a branch mine with the branches every 20 blocks covering the area under the 150x150 square, the same again 10 blocks below, then another 10 blocks down start a diamond mine at 2 levels with branches 3 blocks apart? What does it mean by dig every 20 blocks in the bottom tunnel?
