  • Well I tried those, but when I colour with yellow, after I do shadowings, I only see a yellowish collor mass, what should I do? (opcities.. dunno which rush I should use also...)

  • this might have been the most usefull tutorial i´ve seen yet. well done man :D

  • Are you a wizard?

  • Can I do than with "Wacom Digitizer Wacom Bamboo Pen" ?

  • Can you share how many layers do you use on a painting? Is it just 1 or one for the outline, one for the color, etc.

  • @Radenska512 I don't use that many, check your inbox for useful articles.

  • WTF who can disliked this videoo the 6 are gay

  • @keeet1000 ;-) they are probably not, they just need some love to overcome their hate. ;-)

  • @keeet1000 i think they're those who "omg, i can't draw this, its a fake, thats it, im gonna quit using photoshop!!! i hate this.. mooooooommmy!!!!!"...

and i think its only one person , using 6 different accounts :P

  • 1:25 Sweaty armpits

  • @fatstickslimz We need OldSpice guy then.

  • Sorry, just a quick question...I've made a sketch by hand on a white sheet of paper. Scanned it. Imported into photoshop, and I've started to follow your steps. But please...could you tell how to duplicate and what kind of layers do you use? For example, the original drawing is named Sketch...I can't draw anything on it, because the gray brush covers up tha shiloutte. So I duplicate the sketch layer, giving it an Overlay title, and then, shit gots loose, every color is grayish...please help!!!

  • @noobrifle111 Focus on value first and foremost, then everything will fall into place. If you don't get value (light and shadow) to begin with, then it won't work. Check your inbox for useful articles.

  • @idrawgirls Thank you very much!! :)

  • @noobrifle111 No prob

  • have you speeded up video or do you you draw so fast? btw nice drawing

  • @danskuli This one is only 1.5 sped up. Look at the brush movement, you can still see it moving slow enough.

  • @ratheeshk1982 No problem. Cheers!

  • is each step on a different layer?

  • @lastride29 No, check your pm for more detail.

  • I am dying inside, I so want your talents :D

  • @Brayzyfoo There is no talent just practice and determination. ;-)

  • @Brayzyfoo yup, it's just "right effort"

  • @Brayzyfoo Just practice.

  • @adersonpassos There is an article I wrote and I wrote many articles on my blog. It's long. Do you expect me to explain that in 3 sentences?

  • @idrawgirls not really, man. take it easy. i just didn't know about that specific article. i've actually seen your blog before, but it's so much information to absorb for a beginner like me that i hadn't stumbled upon all that explanations before. by the way, thanks for all the explaining. i really appreciate!

  • @adersonpassos Take your time for what you think it is important. Good information will come in handy one day. ;-)

  • wooooooooooooww, thanks, thanks, thank, wow, thats really wonderful, that you made a tutorial, thaaaaaaaankss

but some question, why did you got so many dirfferent brushes? wich version of PS are you using? and can i get this different brushes for my photoshop 7.0, with a patch for example?

  • @Crox300 O_o

  • amazing how the painting can go from crap to brilliant

  • Xia never ceases to amaze! Thanks for this video!

  • hi, thanks for the awesome tutorial. I have a question too. Do you use Wacom pad, if so what size do you recommend for sketching?

  • @Tektribe808

His construction lines were most likely made with a small hard brush.

Background can be any color you want, but you don't usually want a white background.

And you can paint without a pressure sensitive tablet, but it helps a great deal when blending.

  • I have some questions, I hope you want to answer them.

With what tool do you make that construction line? is it the shadow tool? (sorry can't remember what the English name of it is)

Does the Background have to be gray?

And does my tablet have to be pressure-sensitive?

However, this vid is awesome, you're a master at this things!

  • Comment removed

  • ..... by gAwd and all his formal dressing pants !!!!

    this guy is amazing !!!

  • how do you record your film?

  • You should explain tools and such that you were using. Its kinda hard to understand If you don't .

  • Man that tutorial was wicked! I wish you could do a layer by layer tutorial on it. And describe what brushes filters, lighting effects you are using!

  • @ceranko Me too. I remember he said he generally paints everything on one layer, but it's not a set-in-stone rule.

  • kooool :)

  • so he uses photoshop with one of those drawing tablets then?

  • paints so fast. He makes it look so easy....i want to be like that

  • @Boltfiger uhm.. you do know that this is sped up right?

  • @Boltfiger actually this takes a longg timee he just uses a program to speed it up.

  • i can't find the free photoshop can someone help?

  • Can you make it bigger and post a link to download or look at it? i want it for my background! :D

  • what program is this???

  • this video has really given me something to think about :) I tried drawing with artrage 2.5 but it seems it mud's the painting completely. so i ordered photoshop elements 8, but do you think it can do the trick when it comes to drawing?

  • OMG-MIDEVIAL IRON MAN! hehe, that is really cool. Could you do something like a futuristic character concept (robot, flying vehicles, something like ratchet and clank)? I don't really find that many tutorials on that kind of stuff.

  • wow!!!!!!!!111

  • How much time did you take to do all of this?

  • It looked like crap in the beginning but by I was thoroughly impressed by the end of the video!

  • Hes fat!! lol

  • what is the name of the guy who talks about painting to light? i got a wacom and cs 3 and practice what u do. could use more pointers this was really helpful.

  • John Singer Sargent.

  • HELP!

I have a question. How do you know how many layers to use and when to use them? Please give me some specific answers. I am new to digital painting and want to succeed.

    I thank you in advance.

  • u can use as many layers as you want ilike to use:

! for sketch, for coloring and for shadowing and for background

  • OMG yur amazing (rock) GOOD JOBBB

  • sorry if its written somewhere, but is this GIMP?

    -sweet drawing man.

  • Are you useing seperate layers?

  • anyone know where i can get a table any websites or anything?

  • did u mean a drawing tablet? search wacom they have some really nice tablets if not then a furniture store xD

  • IKEA. Or do you mean tablet? You could try e-bay for a tablet but i suggest going into a computer/technology store.

  • Bestbuy sells wacom tablets also and if you have a best buy credit card you can pay with no interest for 6 months. There about $200-$300.

  • This is great. WOW

  • I'm only just starting to learn photoshop. I was just doodling over a scanned pic. Still have no clue how to use the tools, I was just painting with the brush tool xD. Only going into 2nd year, so I'm in no rush. Great vid!

  • iron knuckle from zelda, anyone?

hey idrawgirls, how does your creative process begin? Do you have a vague idea of what you want to draw when you begin, or is it more spontaneous?

    Thanks, great vids.

  • why dont you draw a comic

  • download gimp people- especially if you are new to digital art- everything the artist did here u can do in the gimp

  • is he using a tablet or his mouse ...?

  • Must be a tablet, I think... :)

  • TABLET

  • HOLY CRAP MAN you are good

  • Very nice :} you have got talent man.

  • it looks like the golden rathian armor in monster hunter

  • man thats fucking awsome!

  • This what I needed. I left a comment on the web site asking for how to do metal a long time ago. I guess your just didn't notice it as you get a lot of comments over there and here as well. thanks for for this tutorial.

  • wow......

  • good shit dude - im trying to get into making tutorial appropriate stuff as well,

forget these guys going apeshit over layers.

HE BLATANTLY SAIS HES PAINTING YELLOW ON AN OVERLAY LAYER. GEE, THAT CAN MEAN ONLY ONE THING.

Seriously though, good vids, got respect for you bro

  • Hate beating a dead horse, but he actually said he was painting a yellow color with overlay; as in he set his brush mode to overlay and painted over it.

But it doesn't really matter, using layers or not isn't right or wrong, it varies from person to person.

  • what program is this (i know its photoshop, but which one?) and where can i find it at... and how much does it costs???

  • photoshop cs4 just came out. It is around 700$ The extended version is 1000$... so yeah, Its not cheap.

  • Well if photoshop is too pricey you could get Photoshop Elements or Artrage or maybe Corel Painter.

    Artrage being the cheapest option.

  • Dude, i don't think he's using layers. He's doin it old school - one layer like a traditional painting, never looking back, just moving forward.

  • he prob is assuming you no the tools he is using ect ect,as i do,its pretty obvi

  • 4:55 all this thing you're talking about is called shading i think ^^

  • finally- a photoshop tutorial where someone is talking!!

    5 stars-instantly!

  • Almost all of his videos have talking in them.

  • bro i agree wit the people tat say why dont u freaking show the layers and u suppose to call this a art tutorial damn man.

  • the draw is awesome,

    but...

    its not a tutorial,

why you dont show the fucking layers???

  • nice good but can you show layers ???....

  • good tutorials but DUDE SHOW LAYERS!

  • Yeah, it would be helpful to know the layers you're using (how many, etc), and possibly the tools.

  • i think he used mainly soft-brushes in beganing, then afterwards we swithced to a harder brush for details and back to softer brush +dodge/burn tools to define light and dark areas.

About layers well there could be 1-3, 1 colour overlay 1 canvas and other 1 underpainting.

  • xD too fun !! lets chat c my profile! 3
