Awesome movie, one of my fave animated movies since i was 12 back in 93 as i watched it on TBS with Vampire Hunter D, Heavy Metal, Robot Carnival Watership Down and Rock and Rule with Hey Good Looking. I got hooked into adult animation since then and bought this when it came out when i was 16, loved it! I also cried when Zalmie's mom died, If you like this one, check out Pink Floyd The Wall, Heavy Metal, Waltz with Bashir and Grave of The Fireflies
Some kind soul put the whole film up on Youtube and it was excellent. Favourite scene is where Pete pulls a flick-knife out on a potential mugger to protect Tony.
With all the music films(most of them absolute shit) doing the rounds at the moment, its a crime that this film isn't noticed. Its nothing less than historically important! ^_^
Would do, but its only an American DVD release - it was never(to my knowledge) released in Europe. And I sadly don't see them bothering with it on Blu-Ray.
Does the rotoscoping techniques in this movie remind you of the similar animation rotscoping techniques like in avatar? Cameron is a Bakshi fan and wanted to do a similar kind of animation technique only more modern, same for Zemeckis. If you like this one i recommend Grave of the Fireflies, Waltz with Bashir and Pink Floyd The Wall for similar animated movies
the movie was very well written I was very surprised when i saw it

The problem with this movie is that it switches eras just as you get invested in the characters

I'd love to see the full film as Pete seems like a true cinematic Hero.
Where others have failed, he succeeded - like a prophecy fulfilled.

does this animation also remind you of what Robert Zemeckis is doing in movies like Christmas Carol, Polar Express or Beowulf?
Johnlindsey289 9 months ago
@Johnlindsey289 yes-i do like that style Zemeckis uses in his animated films.

This rotoscoped live person rock footage could have been perfect for the Rock Band and Guitar Hero video games!
