I've been riding in MI for 20 years and remember when we didnt do the hand signs of how many people are behind you. Where did this dumb idea come from. 1. You should always ride as if somebody is around the next turn (when someone says 0, closed fist, I shopuld punch it cause I'm clear? 2. I dont like passing that close to people with one hand, no brake hand. 3. You know how many times I've been stuck behind slow people and they tell the oncoming traffic they'rs clear cause they dont see me.
@civic734 Although I think the hand signals are pretty useful, especially in crappy conditions, the one hand thing is pretty tough at times. I've nearly tipped my sled a few times since I'm slowing down for oncoming traffic, one ski in the powder and one on the trail, leaning to one side so I dont tip over, all while avoiding tree stumps and the oncoming traffic. It can get pretty hairy.
up riding is fun. we went up to baldwin once and rode north for a week, then rode south back to the hotel. hey while im here, anyone remember that place between cadalic and baldwin that has the hotel/bar/restraunt, and out front of it is that realy long pass? it was great for drag racing. i dont remember the name of it. it was right off a trail. had a little gas pump with the hotel. we went to fill up their and then dragraced eachother last year, and year before that.

thats the best way to ride fast! :-) me and my dad ride from benzonia to maple city every friday night in the winter im spoiled cause we live like 300 yards off the trail and a while back me and my dad cut a trail through the woods to go right to the trail from my house
