Sorry but can't just sit here and be quiet to what I really feel about...the performance is astonishing, i just really felt the song when she sang it! maybe because it was done LIVE and the emotion, though it was not that shown in the face (just opinion) but the way she delivered the lyrics, it was heart warming..
I don't see any problem in the fact that Regine covered this song, and some people may get kicks from really high notes as Regine always delivers. But Lara really is a different class, in my opinion.
For me, the difference is that Regine focusses on singing a song in the most difficult way in terms of note height while Lara focusses on conveying the emotions that she feels when she sings a song. Regine is a bit unstable in the lower regions, and appears less expressive to me.

she is a good singer, but she cant get that emotionla touch as lara fabian, i think she can go as high as she wants but lara's version is better........ and lara can go high too, but this song is more passioated, it only has a G5 in "now that i found" and that's the way it has to be, cause then u go over the top...

And regine's resonance is more marked and sounded more fluid and free, as in the part "I let you fly" at 4:32-4:36.

Sorry but can't just sit here and be quiet to what I really feel about...the performance is astonishing, i just really felt the song when she sang it! maybe because it was done LIVE and the emotion, though it was not that shown in the face (just opinion) but the way she delivered the lyrics, it was heart warming..

I don't see any problem in the fact that Regine covered this song, and some people may get kicks from really high notes as Regine always delivers. But Lara really is a different class, in my opinion.
For me, the difference is that Regine focusses on singing a song in the most difficult way in terms of note height while Lara focusses on conveying the emotions that she feels when she sings a song. Regine is a bit unstable in the lower regions, and appears less expressive to me.

Stop it! when a song is perfectly sung it should not be cover by other artist. Lara Fabian's original version of this song is an absolute masterpiece and this is not even half as good as her moving performance i seriously like Regine a lot but this was not good compared to Lara

she is a good singer, but she cant get that emotionla touch as lara fabian, i think she can go as high as she wants but lara's version is better........ and lara can go high too, but this song is more passioated, it only has a G5 in "now that i found" and that's the way it has to be, cause then u go over the top...

Regine's range goes to a B5 and Lara's goes to A5.... so its just one note.... wich is not that much... and sweet ? well Lara support more her notes wich makes them sound less screaming ! like this G5 she hit on broken vow... regine's g5 sound scramed and lara's sound warmer.... plusss hear how nasal sounds at 1:54 when she says "asking why"......but i still say she is a wonderfull singer... but there0s nothing to compare with lara

@FreakyFredy Lara has more emotional connection because this song is personal to her, being the writer. Regine's softer notes sound sweeter and emotive, but not to discount Lara. Lara's notes from E up sound very heady to me. But she has a very connected register. Regine can deliver her G5s with a grunge, for a more fierce sound, or mixed for a brighter and more resonant sound. And regine's resonance is more marked and sounded more fluid and free, as in the part "I let you fly" at 4:32-4:36.

Although Lara has a very clear glissando, her dynamics is not very strong, as her vocal volume actually is either the same when she goes higher in the scale or sounded "muffled," when it should be freer and brighter when she resonates in the head. But to begin with her voice is powerful and her tonality consistent all throughout. And I she's one of the most underrated divas. but i agree, no one can interpret this song better than lara.

@reginethegreat i think we cant compate her voices cause they are too diferent, regine is a leggero soprano or a coloratura one not sure, while laras voice is heavier, like a dramatic or a lyric soprano, i've even read lara is a mezzo soprano, and that makes her color heavier than regines one, that's why she while regine sounds screamed, lara sounds warmer and supported, i agree with u when u say lara has low powerfull high notes, but she still can manage to go as high as regine...bless for u

@FreakyFredy regine is not coloratura. her voice is leaning more toward lyric. lara though sounds very heady. but yes, her midbelts are powerful. but she goes so heady when scaling higher, making her high notes less powerful and more muffled-sounding. while regine can produce a raw and fierce chestier sound, a wider tone, or a resonant well-balanced mix. same to you : )

consistency of volume requires vocal stability and control. regine's volume and power, as opposed to simply volume, comes from her ability to control and produce a strong resonance. Add to that, she can inject difference characters in her notes: chesty fierce, well balanced mix, and a fully resonant solid sound. and as for mixing, sarah mixes. every singer mixes upon reaching the 5th octave. but sarah sounds more heady, losing volume and power in her upper belts but strnger in her midbelts
