  • If you are still around please say brand/model of tent!! THAT is JUST what I am looking for!! Excellent vid - also love the mix of stills/vid - thank you for the inspiration!

  • @maribethwester. A very cheap Vango summer tent. It had two front side doors which was great for ventilation. We now use a Vango Spirit 300 for summer and autumn, it is a clumsy thing to set up in windy conditions but has sheltered us successfully in a force 5 gale. For winter we use a beautiful Quasar and for more space also a Quasar extended tent canopy. You can see them in action in garn isaf and other vids on my site.

  • @maribethwester I will add a correction! It was gail force 10 i'm informed. Our old Spirit 300 has pole sleeves on the inside(slow to set up) but the new models have outside sleeves so may be quicker and will definitely be less clumsy/easier to set up. A decent 2/3 season purchase. We cycle - Spirit 200 is slightly smaller and lighter for backpacking.

  • If your Mom don't buy you pickles she don't love you! I'm going to use that one... Mediaeval Michigan? I think that period of time may have looked a lot different for Michigan... Jousting swing ropes - Ho Ho Ho! Yeah bears are scary.

  • Now that’s fun.......I love the one dislike! Why would someone do that? Not enough attention as a child? I don't know......Looks like you had a great time!....I would do this in my area, but I am not crazy about bears!

  • @joshjames76 Either that, or they didn't like the video. Now there's a thought.

  • do u guys love highway?

  • @shonenarts23 We never do the Highway. Minor roads - scenic - slow.

  • Loved the video, how long did it take you ??

  • @chris25119600 Cheers... Our trips are not speedy ones! We take out a couple of weeks to a month from work and just make up a journey as we go along on our bikes. Not car owners. Not too fit. We do winter camping mostly as we like the rain and cold. But not snow!

  • WOW! looks like an amzing trip, very beautiful. Greetings from USA!

  • @rally240 Greetings to you from Wales!

  • My wife is the same2:42she has no empathy for any small animal or thing,I really hate her sometimes, but I get her back, as she really loathes frogs for some reason and occasionally I get lucky, and find a real big ugly one and chase her down the street with it "honey! he says you have to KISS him to turn back into handsome prince!!!"......he's still a frog.

  • @granitesfoot It's the opposite! I'm the 'Wet Nelly' when it comes to critters! Someone said go to Rottnest Island and see the Quackas, they are like 'SEA MONKEYS' but bigger, they don't swim and they and hang around in cute family groups like 'The Waltons'. I went but never saw those creatures alive, just sun- baked cycle roadkill versions! Instead i was chased on the beach by a giant lizard that must have been eight or nine inches long. Some lady rescued me by giving it a bit of my sandwhich!

  • Hi, can anyone offer any advice for disabled cyclists? I'd love to do something like this but my legs are made of metal and my only arm is not hinged in the middle (got ran over by an Austin Princess in '79). Is there any kit out there specifically made for those with similar injuries?

  • @trumpetbeek... Sustrans has a lot of schemes on the go that may be of interest. Try looking online at the slow cycling movement/groups. Local owned bike shops are good to talk to, choose one close to you, they always have good ideas and people to introduce you to.

  • Great vidoes.

I really like the idea of dissappearing some where on a bike for a few days,

must be great fun.Think ill have to try it some day.

May i ask what are the berries about 1:38 into the video,

I have these berries every where where i live and have never been able to identify them.

    keep the videos coming

  • @axelcole Just got back from 25 days cycle/tent bliss. Those berries are poisonous june things. Right now is the tail end of delicious blackberries everywhere and sloe berries which look a bit like the ones you see @ 1:38 - good for gin. We had a nibble at rose hips and nettle soups on our Sept trip. Best go with somebody who knows a tadge about field foods before putting in your mouth though!

  • Dam dude, that looks like fun!

  • I'd love to try something like this. Is it safe to cycle alone on a trip like that? (I have no friends/family)

  • @caesiume No friends/family! Choose a route/distance to cover and research all the safest routes, possible camp locations and give approximate times of arrivals. There are camp sites that cater very specifically - from women only - to rock festivals. A camp site owner can be looking out that you get there. Common sense would be to camp in family friendly sites and close-ish to family tents. I've never toured alone always, with partners, from the age of 16 to my present 47.

  • Really inspiring stuff. Want to do this myself, but my wife may need some persuading as she loves home comports...and why not?! The Penarth to Ilfracombe route seems good.

  • @UkeTubeUK I may get a uke after seeing your site! Go as light as you can. We took chairs on the one you comment on, not anymore! A tent with a porch area is really handy/luxurious. If only summer camping you can get decent ones cheaply and changing the pegs makes a huge weight diff. Boat return times vary for return possibilities and tides at Penarth may mean carrying your bike up a ladder. Route 4 from Fishgaurd train station is a good starter for trying trips like this.

  • @chiseller5 Thanks for the reply. I've invested in a tent etc. and now need to plan a simple 1 night trip somewhere local as my wife is willing to give this a go. Can you recommend anywhere within a reasonable radius of Cardiff? Thanks.

  • @UkeTubeUK Be really lazy and cycle to Penarth and use coast path to Lavernoc point, the caravan site takes tenters. Train to Merthyr, join Taff trail and stop off at Pencelli castle, great loos & good local pub, an easy beautiful ride - or same trail but further on - Cwmcynwen, harder and at the foot of Pen-y-fan. Train to Lantwit Major and posh camp site there. Or rough camp at Monk Nash, but firstly ask permission from car park attendant. All details are viewable on web. Go on!

  • I have backpacked aLOT and would like to set up a system for my TREK Mt. BK.

  • excellent stuff.. love the rain...

  • awesome, you should do more videos

  • Great vid. As an American, the cliche' images of London bridge and big Ben were my impressions of the English countryside. Awesome rural pics, well done, Bravo!

  • Nice video. Looked fun.

  • In America, rural and farmland property along roads and hiking trails are litered with signs that say "NO TRESSPASSING".

American land owners are very territorial.

  • maybe, maybe those you come across were pissed off farmers. The governments taking all the land, maybe it was one of their signs. I know Bill Clinton signed an executive order that gave away most of national parks to the UN as collateral on the national debt.

  • @solobackpacking Mainly for legal reasons as it covers the land owners ass. Talking to the landowner or surrounding public/police will usually find you a safe spot to camp,

  • Nice scenery. Looks fun.

  • It was. I put this up to show bike travel on safer 'B' roads/ minor old village roads in the UK. Slower but more scenic than the busy 'A' road routes - May be useful to somebody... Just been doing the same activity with bikes and tent for three weeks in Lake District North England... Enjoyed your videos and vlog debate.

  • Hello nkrguy. I accidentally deleted your question... Those berries look good but are inedible. Wild strawberries, wild garlic, Rosemary, blackberries and nettles flavoured our food along the way. Cous cous is a just add water - lightweight -easy to cook pasta type product and is our tour food choice.

  • i realy liked the mix of stills with moving pics it looks like you had a great time.love the butterfly/flower shot .
