  • @MarcMinicuci Hi Marc, As far as I know this recording is not released on any label. It is a private thing.

  • this is so fuckin great!!!

    (level's kinda low)

  • Amazing stuff, free artistic expression by badass musicians...

  • i wish the quality was a little better but this is a historic find

  • I had the experience of hearing the cecil taylor trio at the 5 spot in the fall of 1975, something I will NEVER forget.

  • in a good way... needless to say; so envious am I.... lol

  • @nakim55

I heard him and his trio at the 5 Spot in the late spring or summer of '75. He was playing the last weekend of a three-week stint there. I heard him on a Friday night, my first night in New York and my first time to hear Taylor in person. I came back on his last night, Sunday. A young skinny tenor player sat in with him on his last set. He was great. Much later, I realized the tenor player was David Murray, at the infancy of his career.

  • Extraordinary. I had no idea there was even footage of this time period.

  • Didn't jimmy lyons play with Cecil for about....what? 26 years or so? I'm not sure...anyone know?

  • At least 25 years. From October 61 to beginning 86.

See The Jimmy Lyons Sessionography (Ayler Records)
