@werryu You would be surprised at how many people stand up, or try to, on roller coasters. Many have been killed, the most recent death at Holiday World in 2003 was a woman standing up on the park's wonderful Raven coaster.

In all the years I've traversed the world riding coasters I've seen many standing or trying to. Modern restraints make it hard to impossible, but also detract from the ride experience, which is the price paid for people's stupidity. In my youth I even stood a few times.
