  • Hey! Have you thought about intellectus 424 diet (do a google search)? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my cousin lost a ton of weight with it.

  • loose 30lbs in 30 days... stop drinking anything but water... cut pop out of my diet and lost 20lbs... also eat 500 calories a day. made 5 100 calorie salads and would eat them threw out the day and exercise on an exercise bike for 2 hours a day going balls out. some would say that is not health but at the time i was easly 100lbs over weight my body had plenty of fat to use so 500 calories a day was not hurting me.

  • You guys are missing the point. At the very beginning of the video, steve speciifcally disclaims the notion of a fast weight loss regimen as something healthy. Yet, Steve was asked a question and with his health and fitness experience...he was able to give everyone a blunt, no B.S. answer.

    Whether the plan mentioned within this video was hazardous or healthy does not invalidate the fact that fast weight loss methods do exist.

    Common sense if you ask me.

  • I don't agree. Fast weight loss is very possible. It isn't about movement, it is about heart rate. I like to sprint 75 yards then walk till my heart rate starts to drop. I lost 20lb in 3 weeks a few years back. A diet of 700 calories of b/s chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, wheat bread and hot sauce, and ad skim milk in the 2nd week. When starving yourself it is important to be active at least 3 times a day to keep your metabolism going. It is "unhealthy" but it worked.

  • @drahm33 : you are losing muscle mass this way, and gaining body fat. Please..I hope people do not take your tip as being a good tip or a good thing. In fact, your tip can kill people. People can have a stroke due to your tip alone. People should follow a better plan than this one

  • Steve, you do a much needed job of cutting right to the heat of the matter.

    No BS, just facts. Are you talking about an hour total, or 2 hours?

    Presently, because of what I believe to be a slap tear, I can only do cardio. I run 5 times a week. Total time of about 45 minutes each run, and have really dropped the calories, something around 1000- 1200.

  • @goinggoingcaught the amount of time you spend on each run which you said 45 minutes is good but....dropping 1,00-1,200 calories is way too much..you should try dropping only 800+ Because if you lose the weight too fast, you'll be skinny but have excess fat (aka loose skin) 2 pounds a week is healthy.

  • Breakdancing burns alot of calories and fats. it helps you to build a nice body shape too. I loss 1kg in 4 days time because i practise breakdance especially the powermoves. just practise for 1 hour everyday and that is enough : ).

  • Is it enough if i burn 300 calories per day? Although my meals is more than 1000 calories per day.

  • Is it bad to cut calories too much for too long I hear that will put your body into starvation mode and you will start to store fat. Im guessing about 5-600 a day is fine for a longer period of time?

  • Can you lose more than 2 or 3lbs per week without sacrificing a lot of lean muscle mass? Is it possible for the human body to burn more than 2lbs of fat each week? Susan Powter once said that it was impossible because your body can't metabolize it, but it seems like people do it.

  • hi,i just gave birth a month ago,at the end of my pregnancy i weighd 186 today i weigh 163.i work out half an hour a day (the only time i have to my self) but know i am not losing as much weight as i was. what can i do to help.

  • Yasmeen, that sounds like you've lost 23 lbs. in a month. You should be losing weight much slower then that generally speaking. I don't know what effect pregnancy will have, but you must be patient. Most people focus on losing 1 lb. per WEEK! Write back if you need more help. We'll gladly help.

  • my issue isn't exercise, my issue is eating, i'm having trouble eating less. I'm not a junk food person but i eat til i'm full. How can i reduce the amount of food i eat without feeling hungry again in an hour?

  • Eating foods that are higher in fiber like whole grain breads and fruits. We're also coming out with a supplement that will help reduce hunger. Should be out if the next month!!!

Also i have another question if you don't mind, why do my calves always hurt when i go on the treadmill, i stretch before i do it, but they still hurt especially when i go faster, i can't go more than 5.5 miles per hour. Is that normal? I do 5 minutes on the treadmill and 5 minutes on the stationery bike, is that considered interval like training?

  • Fruit is always a good food. Low in calories, high in fiber and water and very filling. Also try a lean protein like fish or chicken. It takes a long time to digest and really quells the appetite.

    and i have about 10 pounds of fat ive been tryin to get off."i have a little gut, i hate it" anyways ive been consuming 1400 calories a day and making a defeciet of 3500 every 3 days. i have already lost 2 pounds in 4 days plus my muscles have increased over the past 3 weeks. im pretty pretty tired of exercising all day but i feel fine, just a little hungry. is that too much to do for 3 more weeks?

  • If you cut out 300-500 calories a day AND walked for 30 mintes every day you'd lose 1 - 1 1/2 pounds a week.

  • That is difficult to say because it depends on a lot of things (your body, weight, daily activity, etc) For example, a general diet would put you for about 1200 to 1400 kcal a day. But generaly ppl burn about 2000 2200 calories (or more or less)a day. So, you can schedule a diet program (or get help of a doctor) and see what you can actually burn doing the cardio. So, you will create a deficit of calories and will lose weight.

  • Coasting on a bike doesn't take effort but taking a spin class with the tension on a 5 or above will burn calories.

  • Steve, you say cutback your calories by 500. Where do you actually find out how many calories you need in a day? I know websites are around to provide these #'s but they all vary so much.

    I myself need to go down 5-8 lbs but i've been stuck for a while now.

  • try single crystal light packets they are 0 calories 0 fat 0 everything but they have a wide assortment and you put 1 pack in each bottle shake it and your good to go

  • It's not hard but it does take effort. 1. Take your lunch to work. 2. Low fat milks and cheeses. 3. More chix & fish instead of read meats. 4. Lots of fruit. 5. Whole grain breads, cereals, rice, pastas, etc. 6. No colas or sweetened drinks. 7. Brings snacks as well. It just takes planning & effort.

    I recently came across a latest research on calorie deficit which concluded that a person's fat stores can provide 31 calories of energy per pound of body fat every day before the body breaks down muscles for energy.

    Hence, a person who weighs 300 pounds with 45% of body fat can create a max caloric deficit of 4,185 calories in a day without compromising any muscle mass.

  • No, the one pound a week weight loss that he mentions is if you cut 500 calories everyday alone. One pound of fat is about 3000 calories, so 500 calories less per day is 3500 less per week, or about a pound. If you add in cardio and other exercise, you're sure to lose even more weight.

  • Find out how many calories you need in 1 day. Count calories you eat in a day and make sure you have a deficit. preferably 500 calories less then what you need to maintain your current weight.

  • As usual, Steve's advice is right on target. In my personal experience, I have found that if I avoid salt and salty food, I will retain less water and will appear "leaner" (less puffy). Holding less water doesn't mean you've lost weight (even though the scale might seem to indicate that) it just means your cells are not retaining excess water as the result of too much salt. REAL weight loss, as Steve said, is not a fast thing.
