  • yeah!!!!

  • Cool man! Thanks!! :)

  • iCe CrEaM

  • How great is finding a rare Cream song?? Like finding gold by accident!

  • Other than "Beauty Queen" and the Falstaff beer commercial, this appears to be the only one of those Chalk Farm extra songs that didn't make it onto a subsequent Cream (or Jack Bruce) album.

  • @EdTracey347 The deluxe edition of Disraeli Gears has a bunch of rare tracks. The Clearout, Weird of Hermiston and Hey Now Princess are gems. Not songs that should've evern been tossed aside. It also has alternate takes and a few versions of Lawdy Mama, which became Strange Brew just with totally different lyrics.

  • at 0:20, is this from the BBC Sessions, there are two active filmers...

  • This reminds of "Anyone for Tennis" or "Pressed Rat and Wharthog" - off beat for them, but still entertaining. First time I heard this.

  • think tis is where gallows got idea for belly of a shark??

  • I can see why they dropped this.

  • @MacMic333 it's pretty gay. especially bruce's vocals

  • 1:56 what the hell is on gingers head?

  • @XxDylanLxX WHAT EVER THE HELL HE WANTS.

  • Definetly not mainstream, but that's the beauty of Cream. Thanks for posting.

  • great track! hidden gem

  • Can't understand why Cream wasted their time on this song.

  • with a solo in the rhythm only part, this song would be better for a single than wrapping paper

  • i think this is great. love these lyrics.

  • I can see why they left it off the album! Cool to hear it though.

  • Dig the groovy muttonchops on Eric @ 0:42!

  • Okay as means of keeping things loose in the studio - Personally I would have burned it before anyone at Polydor or Atco could allow it's release. The best throwaway was "Mother's Lament"-it actually showed a side of them that was humorous & real vs. virtuoso hype

  • is that the famous beeno les paul a 59 or a 60 i believe..looks like it..

  • Just retrieved my copy of Those Were the Days (the boxed set this audio is from).

Sorry Peter Brown fans, these are his lyrics.

Oh well, can't win them all.

  • It's very Pete Brown, innit?

  • @GaryLehmann If Pete Brown is responsible for the lyrics here, then it is his worst effort ever. I tend to agree with Peter Baker.

  • so...........would ginger baker call this the second "most appalling piece of SHIT i've ever heard in my life"....along the lines of "wrapping paper"?

  • Cream was amazing but they could have been even better. Put 3 narcissists in one band and it doesn't take long for it to become a shitshow

  • Cream, particularly EC was into British Humor, and this song was a take off of British humor

  • I can see why it's an out-take.

  • I can't Ginger would put in those lame little drums fills---???????

  • @okietexslp

    True dat!

  • sounds a lil doorsy

  • wow clapton with the les paul.. don't see that too often.

  • @Lespaul20155 yeah but what is Jack playing tho ??

  • @gazzaboy2531977 a 60's, most likely one made between 63 and 65, Fender VI Bass guitar. it's basically a baritone guitar but it's got the range of a bass. Look up Phil x and fretted americana fender VI bass you'll get all kinds of cool info

  • kinda sounds like stuck in the middle with you.

  • it looks like they were being recorded in the second picture, anybody know where that video might be?? im yet to see a video of eric with his les paul...

  • @metart93 The second picture is from their appearance on a UK music show in Nov 1966 called Ready Steady Go which i beleieve was their TV debut, they performed WRAPPING PAPER and N.S.U, THEIR 1ST SINGLE.

  • Thanks for this post, I enjoyed it so much.

Out of interest, is this song off the "Those were the Days " CD Box Set released in 1997?

Cream were such a phenomenal band!

  • cool song. never heard before.

  • That picture a 211 I know what Ginger is saying : Hey man in the future when im broke and your a rich famous solo artist do you think we'll still be friends ? Eric's reply: Duh I dont know

  • great tune..thanks for posting..

  • I wish the original album/cds would be re-released & put these extra tracks on their prospective cds.

  • imba ! sexiest song ever !

  • gem

    great, great post, thanks

stuff like this makes you tube a great medium

love the whole thing, but in particular erics guitar , a totally different style to what we are more used to

( I call hime the best sideman in the business!)

  • totally agree with you man!, saludos de argentina....

  • the first supergroup.jack bruce is pure original

  • Intriguing... never would have heard it without your post.

    Thanks.

  • where can you get this, a torrent website?

  • Can you tell us how you got this source? It's great, thanks.

  • why did this get taken off, its better then alot songs of that album

  • it wasn't used cause music like this was a joke to them, which is funny cause its better than a lot of stuff that came out during that time. the last thing they wanted was to be a pop group using songs like this.

  • The Gibson EB3 bass is a really good bass also. .@ 1:19

Andy Fraser (Free), Bill Wyman (Rolling Stones), Trevor Bolder (David Bowie), Glenn Cornick (Jethro Tull), and Chris White (Zombies) all used the EB3 at one time or another. its a real classic

  • lol eric's face and ginger's hair at 2:13

  • the early cream sound is my favorite

  • where did you get this?

  • Note Bruce's fantastic Fender VI Bass in 0:21.

A very rare instrument, half guitar half bass.

  • Yeah, those VI's are sick!

Not rare though, they are still in production, but not built the same as they were in the 60's.

  • Actually several years ago a Japanese Fender Bass VI was being "reissued" but I don't think it is still being made. It was not very expensive yet quite good. To my knowledge Fender custom shop is the only way to get a new one right now.

  • sorta sounds like I'm So Glad. haha. Cool.

  • Great song, too bad it didn't make the cut. I like this better than a song or two that did make it to the album

  • i absolutely agree.

  • cool look eric with a les paul...

  • this is so greaat!!:)

  • I totally agree :O) Do you like Cream too ? haha

  • hah yeah one of my favourites you know hah :P

  • This should have gone on Fresh Cream. Tapping my feet all the way thru that.

  • agreed. i want this song

  • this is from "those were the days" (1997), isn't it?

  • No, it's not but I think it's the same version that was officially released on Those Were the Days.

  • omg!! ive never heard this before, till yesterday!:):P

  • Good song!

  • i thought I'd heard it all!

  • Wow.Where'd you get this?

  • love it love it, ginger, jack & eric what a band ... tops!!!

  • The greatest band ever.

  • i totally agree
