Neoprog? Um, no. This sounds nothing like Marillion, IQ or Pendragon.
This is so clearly third wave prog: classic prog sounds and structures while more rock in composition (although this is closer to classic prog than much third wave). But neo it ain't.
@MrMusicman456 Actually *what* do you mean is neo? The music of AoM? Do you think this relates more to early Marillion, Pendragon and IQ rather than Spock's Beard and TFK?
Neoprog is generally simpler in arrangement than original prog, but it rarely veers into rock territory as third wave prog does. This is a bit rockier than original prog, but still maintains a lot of its arrangemental intricacies. So... What is it you're saying?
@teaflax Not gonna argue, this is the first time I have ever listened to AOM. But symphonic prog is more classical in structure, while Neo (IMO of course) has that, but is more rock in structure and is usually less complicated. But I would honestly consider this more symphonic than Marilllion or IQ.
@teaflax I put this in a big category with Spock's Bead, Tangent, Opeth, Frost, Porcupine Tree and Fleet Foxes for example. Of course very different bands - as Yes, Genesis, ELP, King Crimson, Gentle Giant and Jethro Tull were in the '70s. I think you're right with the term "Third Generation", since the usual "Prog Revival" is a little bit unkind with the musical dignity of the artists!
Whatever you call it, it's great. Up there with Roine's best work.

@teaflax How about Neo-Palaeo-Prog? :)) Personally, I like to call I 'good music'.

@BrainiacFingers "Good music" isn't useful as terminology. Without well-defined terminology, you cannot discuss music.

@teaflax Actually, that is neo...

@MrMusicman456 True, but IQ does get pretty symphonic, as far as neo goes.
