This country has fought for the rights to secret ballots and that scumbag Obama and democrats are looking to give unions the right to go to employees homes and strongarm them. One step closer to a state controlled government. Thats communism!
I was in a union several years ago and all they did was take my manditory dues and then ran when I needed them the most! They stink to high heaven!!!!! And, I am a Democrat. Get really educated about them befor doing anything! Thank you, RMW
This is a scary ad. The cynically named "employee free choice act" would take away the choice of employees to have a secret ballot, making them subject to bullying by union thugs. This must be stopped, otherwise we will lose our freedom in 2009.
Unions are parsites--why do you think that every industry that is represented by a strong union is in shambles? Auto...airline...transit...steel...education...federal gov't...
I support the employee free choice act. In states like Tennessee you have very little chance of even getting to a vote. The anti union activity of corporations goes unchecked and people are fired for their free association with unions. We need to level the playing field. Card checks will allow for that vote to take place before the corporate anti union machine has the opportunity to deploy its intimidation tactics and scare the workers from perusing their lawful right.
We can't afford NOT to let this happen! I know all y'all big-business republicans are scared to death of this, but Americans need a raise. I live in NC, and there is virtually no Union here. As a result, this is one of the lowest paying states for blue-collar workers in the whole USA. Time for a change? I really think so.
Taking away the right of people to have a private vote is unAmerican. Period. The reason the extreme left wants to take that away is because people do not want to join unions - and if they don't want to, they shouldn't have to - and be able to cast that vote without being harrassed and intimidated by union hacks.
If I were required to sign a union loyalty card I would tear it up in front of the Union Boss and DARE him to get me fired because that is UNCONSTITUTIONAL. I will NEVER pay dues to a union to make them rich and they never actually represent my views anyway. THEY are not MY representatives. I won't be forced to "elect" them by signing a card - and then be forced to pay union dues. It is intimidation - like having to hand over lunch money to the schoolyard bully. Don't pay protection money!
Now, that's democracy in action. You have just made the best argument I've heard yet that freedom of choice in the workplace can flourish when the employees are allowed to make their own decision on whether or not they wish to BARGAIN or BEG for fair compensation of their labor. Your comments should serve as the poster child for the passage of the Employee Free Choice Act. Likewise; no employer should suspend the Constitutional rights of any American citizen just because they're on the clock.
By the way... No one in a Union ever gets rich. I am a member of the IBEW (the world's largest Electrical Union), and our Presidentoversees a multi-billion dollar organization. His salary is less than $250K per year. Now you show me ONE corporate CEO over a corporation that large that makes that little money. You get your dues back when you retire, anyway. Educate yourself.
Everyone knows the REAL intimidation happens in the time gap between a petition to the NLRB for an election and the date the election is scheduled. This in-between time is utilized to scare the crap out of the employees by their employer. By the time labor board charges are filed, processed, and appealed, the workforce has suffered so many additional illegal acts that require filing, processing, and appealing; they lose the will to continue and their election is lost. The EFCA will level things.
There is no propaganda in getting rid the right to a secret ballot in unionizing. People should not face intimidation or scrutiny over their decision to unionize or not. Also people should not have to join a union to work. Unions support Democrats almost exclusively which are anti-American, pro sexual activist, pro environmental activist, pro abortion, pro-big government, pro big taxes. The Union leadership are not about serving their workers they are about serving themselves.
Unions are bad for the individual. In our current economy 80% of money goes towards wages and 6% goes towards profits. If you take away profit the company will not expand and wages will not rise. Unions raise wages but that causes other people to lose their job or keep people from being hired. Unions cause continuous and progressive inflation. Union labor is less efficient. All of this is economic fact. Instead of listening to people who get something out of this read a book. Don't be a idiot.
There's a lot of misinformation here about what exactly EFCA is, because the Republicans and the corporate community are running scared and whipping out their checkbooks. Advertising figures for this campaign include:
Chamber of Commerce: $20-30 million
Coalition for a Democratic Workplace: $30 million
Employee Freedom Action Committee: $30 million
Freedom's (Fascism's) Watch: $30 million (from ONE anti-union contributor)
Center for Union Facts: unknown, but in the millions
There are a number of untruths in this ad. First, it says workers will be "required" to sign a card. False. Its a voluntary choice. Second, it says cards will be signed "essentially" in front of union bosses. False. Card signers can sign privately and turn cards into NLRB if they choose. Third, "one estimate (I wonder whose) estimates union political spending will top a billion dollars. It doesnt add up. IN THE END, the NRSC IS SCARED WORKERS WILL TAKE BACK AMERICA...LETS DO IT!
As a percentage of the work force, far fewer people are in unions than before. Even with strong unions, American work productivity and profits were unrivaled. Unions don't squeeze off the tap or stifle proper workforce discipline, they just make sure the workers they represent are reasonably paid and protected.
Really, we have the biggest income gap in this country since 1929, do we need fewer unions and more union busters? Do working people need fewer rights and fewer options. The eletist repub party thinks so because the repub party thinks average income people are slobs.
Yeah, we have the biggest income gap because the middle class is disappearing......more middle class are becoming UPPER class.
And stfu anyway. As if the democrat elite is any better. The obama household makes like 200k a year, yet somehow they struggle to pay for piano lessons and whine about college loans? Maybe if they didnt piss all their money away on rich people shit, theyd have more money.
This is the biggest bunch of crap video. It's about time we get the Employee Free Choice Act Passed. Republican apointees in NLRB nad NMB haven't been doing their jobs properly. It's about time we workers fight back and pass the EFCA.
This is COMMUNISM plain and simple! And union workers dues paid for it!

The problem with unions is that they have power over shareholders.
Less unions, less humanity in employment, more shareholders more poverty and more and more and more.
Once the unions are finished so is the American Dream.
