We are designed to have a large segment at the end of our telomere that doesn't code for anything, so when small amounts of the DNA are not copied, it doesn't interfere with the health of the cell. However, in old age, we run out of telomere that doesn't code for anything, and begin losing genes that matter, which in turn causes the cell to not function properly.

The olympics should set a standard type of prostetic limb, so these people can still compete without being "cheaters". for some of these people, their sport is their LIFE. they have dedicated their whole body and mind to getting into the olympics. can't someone in the high-up places have a fucking heart and make it work for these disabled people?

It is absolutely unfair, you do not need to train prosthetic legs, that is, they require no muscles to perform at their best. Thus, and shown in studies, the prosthetic legs are more efficient than normal human legs. Someone with prosthetic legs would be able to sustain their maximum velocity, while consuming less energy: 25% by one study. You could just have your legs removed to win a world record. This is not to the benefit of normal athletes, whose legs do cause them fatigue.

I do think it IS fair to discriminate against amputees until it can be universally agreed upon that the purpose-built prosthetics are just as efficient as a natural human leg.

A lot of things have to be taken into account. Most prosthetic running legs are made with carbon fiber blades which make them much lighter than the human leg. Also, the curve of the blades can actually propel the runner farther and faster than a natural foot/ankle.
