  • is that a banjo or some kind of traditional instrument ?

  • Comment removed

  • lovely!!

    tnx!!

  • This guy is an amazing player! Bravo

  • what is this banjo look-alike instrument Dinkjian plays on?

  • @progresiverocklover called Cümbüs on Turkish, similar to Bouzouki on Greek

  • @ankerwicklung my music teacher told that it's actualley dome kind of a special oud (after all thats ara's specialty) if you count the strings from the head of the instrument it makes sense.

  • @progresiverocklover An oud- Cümbüš that - a fretless kind of Cümbüš

  • @progresiverocklover The number of strings seen on the peg indicates it's an instrument called the Oud which Dinkjian is known to play. This seems to be a more acoustically suited version for the concert venue.

  • @SecretHye00 its not an oud its actually a poor man oud its a cheaper version called the cumbus.

  • @SecretHye00 This is not an Oud , it is a Cümbüs. The number of strings on a Oud is usually 11- 5 double courses and 1 single bass-string. The Cümbüs Ara plays here can be strubg with 12 strings in 6 doublecourses, but Ara plays it with 6 single strings. BTW, on a Cümbüs the neck can be changed very easy. There are frettet necks like Banjo or Baglama availiable.

  • @SecretHye00 He is not playing an oud, he is playing a Cumbus. A more modern insturment invented in Turkey. It is similar to a banjo, has a plastik face and metal strings, but it is fretless, so he can play the quarter notes.. it is also double string like the 12 string guitars....

  • @SecretHye00 It's called a cümbüş.

  • i love this music !!!!!

  • @ilishim ..Im sorry who is Sezen?? Has anyone ever heard of her? Why does everyone recognize Arvanitaki immediately?

  • @akrivosdiavolos73 here everyone means your Greek friends, isn't it ? Just check out Ara's website to see her.

  • @akrivosdiavolos73 you know math right. 2011-20 = 1991

Sezen put the song to her album in 1988, so she is the first, right. Tell me who is ignorant ??

  • @cerkezz1 its not turkish its greek

  • @SurpSargis it's armenian music.

  • Are they from Turkey!!! I think this music is not armenian, is it Turkish?

  • @YesIam49 allah allah, turks do not have much too claim as their own, but let us live in peace, wherever we are. We all stole, borrowed and so on from eachother, so there really is not a pure turkish tune except for ceddin dede, and other crap. Ataturk is SHIRK, ataturk was a masonic jew. Turks was Ottoman, not todays anatolia. Peace from a non-armenian.

  • amazing

    I enjoyed it .

  • Great band, keep composing... join my site wwwcashArmenkingcom

  • muy bueno ke kaña!!!!!

  • master musician

  • araa my fend

  • It is gibberish but I think he is mimicking the Armenian intonation and then blends it with the beat, I guess the philosophy is that since each tribes rhythm and percussion is derived from the traditions of the people. It's a symbolic gesture.

  • These guys are maestros. it is JAZZ, real jazz

  • is non turk music. When armenian fidayis go fight with turk barbars, they singing ,, iren ergu dxin Ave, Hajoyin arav ur xmbi mech mtav gotemart ....This song has armenian 95 Year history. Isn´t doubtful turk RRAAABBIIZ.

  • I grow up with this song in Turkey. "Gel gel sarisinim gel" by Sezen Aksu. I love it...

  • you have a greek version this version and they have a turkish version.

    what is the turkish version?

  • @Grieken33 its the ''Gel sarisinim gel'' by Sezen Aksu

  • @nabmfever

Dinata is a song from the album Meno Ektos ("I'll keep outside"), composed by Ara Dinkjian and sungd by Eleftheria Arvanitaki. It mixes the influence of Balkan music with electronics. That song, among the others on Meno Ektos, made Arvanitaki a singer out of Greece. The English words dynamo and dynamic come from the same root. She also performed the song at the closing ceremony of the 2004 Athens Olympics, during the fireworks and after the flame was extinguished.

  • @BloodySultan yeah i knew that, i was talking about the turkish version though!

  • @nabmfever

    well the Turkish version sucks.

  • so beautiful :)

  • GreekMusic: It is almost impossible to translate what the drummer is saying because it is an ancient dialect of Armenian only used by high priests for chanting prayers.

  • No. Arto is just talking "nonsense." He is known to make strange noises like that. it is a non-language. It is NOT Armenian!

  • @VANArmenya

And in a way, it is.

  • @part1sts I agree. Non-verbal, "spontaneous" language based on his barin :) I love him

  • I read it from wikipedia it says turkish

  • Who says Wiki is always correct, authoritative, or checked by anybody.

May I suggest you also use a second opinion.

Someone published a fake obituary of a famous poet a few weeks ago. Many newspapers printed it and had to retract it. So, there goes wiki.

  • Amazing performance! Beautiful and inspiring music.

  • Super sarki. Cocuklugumdan beri bilirim bu sarkiyi. Ara Dinkjiyan'dan ilk dinleyisim. Cok guzel caldin Ara... Turkiye'de konser verirsen ins. haberim olur.

  • bizim cümbüş "cumbus" gel gel sarışımın dinata dinata da ermeni folku olmuş. olsun, hepimiz anadoluyuz. hepimiz aynı kadının emzirdiği farklı dilleri konuşan aynı çocuklarız.

  • ha ha ha rainson kardes iyi guzel soylemissin sonunda da basta micmissin affedersin yani...sizin gel gel sarisininiz Ara Dinkjianin kendi bestesi yani kardesim bizim gel gel sarisinimiz sizin yani Sezen (kralicemiz ..soz yok ) in sarkisi oldu senin anliyacagin..saygilar kardesim..!!

  • What's he playing? It looks like some kind of banjo.

  • Its called a Cumbus. Cant give much more info though. Fantastic sound!
