"But ask the animals and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you; or let the fish in the sea inform you. Which of all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this? Job 12:8
to:"animals in church"? Yes, that was a key thing with St Francis, and WHY he became the patron saint of animals as well as the environment: he felt all things were deeply connected, and facets of God Himself, inter related.Hence title of the movie, itself taken from a prayer of St Francis' own prayers,"Brother Sun, Sister Moon." He called them that.Felt deep kinship with everything, esp other living creatures. Also started the tradition of the Nativity creche, with live animals of course.
@henrikhankhagnell The animals are in the church because they are donations. The peasants would give what donations they could and St. Francis would deliver them to the poor :) Not only that but he was very connected to animals and thought they were much more connected to God than humans who care about material things more..
This movie means more to me than I can express. This part of it is my favorite. Thank you.

animals in church?

@henrikhankhagnell - not so strange and rather appropriate considering it is the story of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals.

Um dos filmes mais maravilhosos que eu já assisti em minha vida. Uma obra prima de Zefirelli.
