I stopped ballet when I was 5 and now Im 15 and want to do it again! I start my first beginners class on Moday and feel im going to make a complete fool of myself! I have SO much to learn!!!
Thats such a nice exercise ! Cute music too . our pirhouette enchainment exercise is no where near as cute ! Theres alot of potential , but there needs to be alot of work on turn out . but if some of the girls are age 11 , a double is quite an acheivement :)
lol I studied under RAD, royal academy. Honestly it's great to study under all the schools, because when I picked up a new (fantastic) teacher, I had to learn all the checetti names. The more you study with variety, the less likely you are to pick up bad habits from one school or one teacher.
Some of the girls are lifting their shoulders with their arms. They should keep their shoulders down. And a few of them need to work on their landings. They're a little sloppy.
I admire their passion for dancing, yet they could do so much more....there's a new book entitled "Advanced Principles of Teaching Classical Ballet" that explains why teaching a mish mash of methods of ballet doesn't work and why American ballet's so haphazard....it starts with a solid base & legitimate teacher training (even the typical university or just professional experience doesn't cut it)...it's scarce in the U.S.....I am hoping things will improve...the book is a wonderful start....
they are awesome! where is thi ballet school? do they have summer camps?? i am 14 i started ballet a month ago and, mabe if they had summer camps MABE i can come in summer and learn a lot of things, they seem to teach really well there... if you reply it would be really helpful and please send me a message telling me about this school please... thank you
Thanks for your reply, it's always interesting to see how children progress, I'm a cecchetti teacher and have a 12 yr old daughter just starting standard 7 (mostly 16 & 17 yr olds) but she also trains with another teacher and is a Wales & West Cecchetti Associate. studying your videos there is no hint of Cecchetti style, I'm very impressed with the standard of most of the girls but feel they are doing some very advanced stuff, things I was doing when I danced in ballet companies! L Thanks again
purely out of interest what exam syllabus do you follow? because most of the exercises that are being done seem far more advanced than what a child would be doing at their age in the UK
Do we care about your age? no. Do we care you can do 4 pirouettes? no. This is just a demonstration of their class practicing. No need to try and 'brag', it's not like you're a professional ballerina.
haha im 14 and just started but if your older than that a lot of studios offer adult ballet. if your my age, i say go for it, is really really rewarding and fun
@moviegurl16 haha. well thts good. good luck wiv it. gta say i wish id carried it on. started wen i was 3 nd gave up cus of an injury. wish id gone bak 2 it sooner :( neva mind. im luvin it agen so it's all gd. x
You always see these groups like do 5 or 6 pirouttes, and they always have horrible technique. A lot's with foot sicling, turn out, no pointed feet, and arms.
i love your turns in my ballet class we pratickally do the same thing

is this the checetti style? sorry i forgot how to spell it but i used to go to a studio that used that style
justineiswackkoo 2 years ago 5
Yes. Our studio combines the cecchetti and Russian styles, but we don't do the same excercises over and over like some cecchetti schools.
