"Everybody should do it. There should be a rock band on every block because it can happen." Fucking beautiful. I guess this is the interview that Jeff Mangum was talking about
Not only was their music amazing, as a band they were as down to earth as performers could get. Reading about them in 'Our band could be your life' you really get the feeling of just a bunch of friends who liked playing together, didn't give a shit about fame or money.
It is better to be thin...you don't have to worry about such things as, heart attacks, bad back, sore knees, Diabetes, spending all your hard earned pay on food, etc. Thin is in!
And so "theonlytruepunk" what is the only true punk? It seems if you knew you wouldn't be saying stupid things like "thin is in" because man, it doesn't matter.
I was being sarcastic...who gives a fuck, really??? I don't. I have a spare tire I am packing around with me, so fucking what? In other words don't take silly things like that serious...life is short, enjoy it.
what the fuck??? Why are you dissing on D. Boon...fuck! You saying he was fat??? Are you saying he was a big fat guy? Are you?? That is fucked up...you should never make fun of fat people...how would you like it?
D. Boon was right, every corner should have a rock band, but most of them couldnt play like they could. They had to be the one of most proficient group musicians in all of punk, only maybe BadBrains could match their breathtaking stops and starts on a dime.
I saw the Minutemen play in Nov. 1985 at Angel's Gate Cultural Center in San Pedro. My guess is that was one of their last gigs. But I think their last performance was on the REM tour later in 1985. One of my favorite bands of all time. RIP D.
One of his trademark sounds is that scratchy, trebly guitar. I wonder what kind of music he'd be making or what he'd sound like if he was still alive.
Portions of this video were likely shot at SST Night Ackerman Ballroom UCLA late 1985, with label mates Husker Du. I was at that show when an MTV cameraman, wanted my tall friend to help give him space to operate within the mosh pit, and get close ups. It had to be one of d.Boon's final performances thanks for pointing out the Les Paul.

I fail to see any connection between Throbbing Gristle and "Punk Rock". It looks their interview was conducted at Averil Park.

I think D. was borrowing Curt Kirkwood (Meat Puppets)'s Les Paul at the time. The Minutemen had their equipment stolen on tour.
