Its funny how some people lay blame on every single Chinese for the actions of one young Chinese girl. She clearly displayed bad sportsmanship but you cant say all or most Chinese act this way. Every nation produces bad apples.

I must admit after my first comments some four weeks ago and after many replays and discussions with team members, that the ball had indeed glazed the top edge of the table and the point should have been awarded to Ai. But it was such a close call and I would not condemn wen jia as a cheat. Rather I will praise Ai for her integrity and sportmanship.
In all honesty, the ball may have actually glazed the side of the table and not the edge. I would say we will need technial expertise to verify rather than to make rather emotional and subject comments as with the video commentator. There was definitely a 'kink' in the arc but we need to look at the flight of the ball from the straight line which we do not and as a result we will not know 100per cent if the ball glazed the edge or the side.
Its just bad sportsmanship that's all. Leave it at that. Politics and history should have no place in this game. Anyone whose talking shit about the countries based on this are just moronic and ignorant.
she KNEW she had lost that point on the edge, and she was totally lying. it is really sad actually, because china is so fucked up these days! most chinese people see honesty, integrity, and basic civility as a weakness. well, because of the current state of things in china, i know one thing: neither i, nor my son, wil go there again. last thing i want is for him to be run over and left to die in the street, or kidnapped by gangsters to be sold to a family without a son. china's nasty these days
lol! dude, i am not judging china based upon this single situation. i have been to china twice, am married to a chinese woman, know many hundreds of chinese people, follow news from china pretty closely, and can conclusively state that china is massively fucked up socially. here are a couple additional illustrations: "my father is li gang!", watch?v=uqozC6kHQeI
chinese people need to be better educated in how to be a good person.
except for wang liqin and kong linghui the chinese TT team are A-grade cheats and assholes,i do remember when they finally beat sweden in teams in 1995 ,there were reports that there would be calls to the swedes room when they'd be sleeping, electricity be cut off when they came for practise chinese women are even worse real smart and cunning, the chinese govt. is the worst -support pakistan, north korea, all terrorists's AK-47's and grenades are made in china.bastards i say.....
i'm chinese, and this video disappoints me, such bad sportsmanship from the chinese player D=, glad Ai won!! and the chinese player seems so rude when ai missed her serve..
@Rand0mAsian You can't argue with the ref it would just penalize both of you for arguing with him. That's how bad ref's are. You can't blame the Chinese player because she may have not even known if if hit and just accepts the umps call. So her saying nothing was simply an innocent incident.
its nice ti hire handykept people everhwhere, but its not normal to have blind referees in an international competition. What a pity for Fukuhara. But thanks godness the story had a happy end,
That is just weird, how can the referee declared it hit the side of the table when the ball is going outward? don't tell me he think the balls some how magically curve back to hit the side of the table.
4:30 , seriously, the fuck is wrong with the chinese player??? cho'ed like hell when Fukuhara missed the service, thats just perfect, first she steals a point, then she cho's on Ai's service miss... yeah, that's what I call great sportmanship........
In my opinion there was a clear lack of fair play by the chinese player. I'm sure she hear the touch of the ball in the edge. Even the umpire should hear it, maybe he was sleeping or something
@john66560 This is not the way you talk about female athletes. You first generalize by calling it a "chinese", then make a remark about her appearance. You dont belong here.
@tomo8104 and the Chinese, especially the older generation, absolutely hate the Japanese. I think it's better with the later generations though. The whole Sino wars left a lot of bad blood.
@Aaaaarrrrrrggghhh give me a break. WW2 ended 65 years ago. What in heaven have those two players to do with that history now? In sports all is about fairness and we have seen often enough players who lost a match becausse of their fairness. Your comment is a bit pathetic, dont you think?
the ball moves too fast for any umpires to know. Even i have difficulty umpiring amateur matches. But the players know. The chinese player has poor fair play
@Fakeslimshady I wouldn't say that. Only through constant replays were they able to say it was edge. That type of edge you usually notice through sound, not through a visual cue.
@gimplar but here you didnt need sound, when I saw it happening I immediately said it was an edge. How else can a ball go from above the table hit the side ? Its almost impossible, maybe with side spin but in this case Ai didnt give any side spin so it was clearly edge.
I don't understand why Wen J. celebrate her points (and mistakes of Ai) in this way, when precisely, she had not the reason: the umpires benefited her.
I think the comentator should just stay to his day job and let the professional empire to do his. This same commentator was also mistakenly said the wrong score when DingNing was playing with Guo Yam in the first game in the UAE women final.
how can the ball touch from the side, when it came from the opposite direction. it's physically impossible, this ball was clearly on the edge and the point should have gone to fukuhara.
@mingcheng123 Imagine how Ai must have felt for losing a set due to a bad call. If she couldn't focus after that, than she has a very weak mental game, which is a huge disadvantage.
wow para que pija estan los arbitros eso fue muy sutil pero toco asi tambien le cagaron un set a joo se hyuk contra ma long solo q joo termino perdiendo
Never expected this from the chinese, they really went down in my respect. It was so clearly a touch. And from the reaction of ai, i could read that the coach was agreeing it was a touch but the chinese player just didnt want to give the point. Great vid but lame chinese!
@kaikaz A lot of the Chinese players do this for some reason. The only very honest players are WLQ, Ma Long, and Zhang Yining. Many of the others would not hesitate to cheat a little to win (Wang Hao at WTTC 2009 or Ma Lin occasionally serving illegal serves)

What a dou-dou head this ref was!!
He refused to see the truth...and shame on this Chinese player...
Where is her sportsman ship?
Reminded me of Timo Ball's good sportsman ship when he played against Ma
Lin. He ended up loosing Ma, but he choose his dignity over cheap win.
That's the real difference between true Champ and cheap shit player.
It was so clear...it was an obvious edge ball...and Chinese knew bout it.
