Hitler almost destroyed Poland but Russia imposed a Communist government of fear and repression. We know that if Hitler had won Poland would not exist. However, Russia is not innocent. They sent Home Army guerrillas that fought AGAINST the Nazis to their death in executions. Russia has never liked Poland because they know that Poland will stand up to Russia unlike other Slavic countries, like Serbia, Bulgaria, and Russian-dominated Belarus.

I agree with you that without Russia, Poland would have been destroyed by Hitler. However, Russian troops should have left Poland after World War II was over, maybe six months after May 8, 1945. The only country that SHOULD have been occupied by Russia after the war is East Germany, since Germany started the war. That would be a just punishment for Germany, for its eastern half to be occpied by Russia forever.

Yes. From polish point of view: International socialism and national socialism was the same. Different was only design and scale. We fought with nazis and commies. Look at "Cursed soldiers" at wikipedia. Witold Piecki became the only known person to volunteer to be imprisoned at Auschwitz concentration camp. While there, he organized the resistance movement in the camp. He was a real hero of world war II who was killed by polish colaborators in 1948. In 2008 we has memorial of his death.
