Is there stones coming through with the water or something?
Nice new paint on the outside won't fix whatever is chewing itself to bits on the inside. Nothing that sounds like that lasts for long unless it's a rock crusher.
very nice! one of the best i have seen. this is a very clean looking system. sounds strong and from the loads that you explauned very powerful and efficient.
@Songer80 its not about co2 or polution its about doing something you like and plus its free other than the material it cost them nothing to make electricity and thats pretty cool
what about the pour baby fishies, and all that noise, and that beautiful water fall... Face it, we don't need any more electricity... Just go without for once....
What is not true? The poster above said "all alternators are AC"...which is VERY true. In fact an argument could be made that all rotating machines are alternators...well, sort of. All produce AC for certain, the way in which the energy is removed from the machine determines whether it is an alternator (producing AC) or a generator (producing DC). If an alternator has a built in full wave bridge rectifier it is often referred to as a generator, and always when using a commutator and brushes.
74VDV it really is sad when out of 6 people you are the only one to get it right. I wonder sometimes if some big event were to happen, just how long we would be in the dark ages...
@cappydawg yup. alternators take direct current and alternate it at intervals that maximizes it's efficiency. alternators take in direct current and supply alternating current
Good, I like that you share this video, I wish success always Non-grid microhydro electric system

This is an awesome idea but I would get rid of that power thieving V-belt and use a bicycle chain or gears. A chain wont slip if it gets wet either.

that's brilliant, is that 150V you're getting? any way you could make it quieter? is the water source a river? must be pretty big

Good system. The pipes can later be buried under a foot or so of soil, and a housing can be built over the turbine to muffle the noise.

what a piece of junk. I rather have a little co2 pollution from a highly efficient honda generator that this whole lot of noise pollution...

Any plans for a small box or building for the turbine/generator? Would cut down on the noise quite a bit.

No...Alternators are AC. The current is transformed into DC! An alternator gets its name from the term alternating current (AC). :)

Nice looking, How many kilowat is the alternator and do you have to support it with batteries? also are u using A/C or D/C alternator.
