  • Hey US born white boy here that LOVES Trini food! The best curry in the world! If any other non-island folk reading this gets confused, don't worry! It doesn't matter what they serve you, roti or buss up shot, if you are in a Trinidad owned restaurant, you will LOVE whatever they bring you!!!

Personally I think a buss up shot - roti sounds awesome! But only as a combination plate! :)

  • i wanna shrimp roti nowwww... this dead town dont have'm

  • Professor Jadee! lol Phd in Curryology!

  • Ain't no sense trying to explain a Trini thing to a Guyanese or Jamaican They all a bunch of fucking idiots and they know nothing about nothing.

  • FUCK TRINIDAD

  • watch nah roti is roti , buss up shot is buss up shot , roti skin is roti skin i cant see myself going by any roti shop or a friend and asking for a roti and they give me roti skin if i wanted roti skin i would of say lemme get a roti skin there

  • @flight148 exactly agreed

  • lmao there is not way that she is from Trinidad. you want a sprite coke lmao...

  • LOL this was great. Both of my parents are trini (I was born in the us but lived in Trinidad for some time) and I even know the difference between buss-up-shot and roti...two different things. And ppl need to accept the fact that Trinidad is the home of roti...not Guyana.

  • lol thats funny how you make a bus up shut roti... where they do that at

  • I think her Boyfriend or Husband or someone she know is Trini and she decide to claim the culture. I was born in America to Trini parents and family and I know what is the difference between Roti and Buss up Shot. If you're a REAL Trini despite birth place then you'll know the difference. She doh kno.

  • Take it from a Trini. Doh be so hard on de lady sellin. Everyday different people comin in and want all kinda ting and callin things all kinda names. Some people want just the roti with no curry and some want everything. She, confused with all this activity, was just clarifying what you want. All you had to do was stay calm and say what you wanted with your bus up shut. I think maybe you were very hungry and irritable. Come on, a hungry man is an angry man. Bus up shut IS Paratha ROTI.

  • LoL ah buss up shot roti

    & SHE TRINI?

    Nah nah nah..

My parents are trini and I was born in de U.S. but I still know de difference btwn de two.

  • Yes we invented roti and that lady just didn't understand what you wanted she is obviously not Trini I understand what you talking about. When someone asks for a roti you cannot give them the skin only.....You have to ask do you want a chicken., beef, shrimp etc....

  • Trinidadians did not invent roti

  • ahaha funny video but i have 2 disagree Roti is a mixture of flour ,water, and oil invented in India not trinidad what u are describing as "Skin" is in all actuality Roti and if u go anywhere and ask for roti that is what u will get so how come if u believe that "EVERYBODY" else is wrong and trinidad just happen 2 be right on this matter notice the emphasis on everybody

  • In Trinidad when one goes to the Roti Shop, one will normally ask can I have a either (chicken, goat, potato, shrimp or whatever meat) roti, but if someone happen to ask for just a roti the people serving will normally ask what kind (meat) would you like to have. You were right a buss up shut and a Roti is two different things, there is no such thing as "buss up shut roti" (she got to be kidding) she should go and sell Doubles- Barra.......lol.Nice music video on Synergy TV, good job

  • @triniutube thank you happy you like the Video..." doubles - Barra " LOL thats funny

  • @AltarCallTV La Rotisserie la plus célèbre elle se trouve ou à la Trinité ?

  • Trinidad's Culture changed the concept of the "roti". Originally, roti can be paratha, dhalpurie, aloo purie etc what Trinis now call "skins". We, in TNT refer to the "roti" as a "sandwich" and buss up shot as curry(whatever) AND the paratha. Trinis know what we mean but other people get confused. When we say we want a roti, it certainly doesnt mean the skin.

  • what an asshole

  • Yeah, I agree with you man !

  • I was born in Trinidad and never have I gone to a roti shop and ask for a roti and just get the skin. If i want the skin then I would say "leh mih have a roti skin" In Trinidad and Tobago when you ask for a roti, they will ask you what kind yuh want; chicken, goat, potato etc. Trinis don't ask for a Buss up Shut Roti. So I understand your point. If she go to Trinidad and Tobago and ask for a Buss up Shut Roti dey would watch her like if she crazy...LOL!

  • amm a buss up shut is a type of roti. same way dhal purhie is a type of roti, same way sada is a type of roti.

a roti is not the skin and the channa.... that is a WRAP roti. the roti is just the skin.

allyuh real brave to put this ignorance on youtube.

  • Lol!

  • This is so real. I had a restruant and the people was confusing me. We invent it. IT IS OURS. Big up to Buss-up-shot. And thanks for clarifying to them out-siders wat me mean.

  • LOL, ok..planning to come to Trinidad and taste that famous roti...at least this video solved out what i should be getting...sounded goood ;)

  • Too funny!!!

  • Too funny!!!

  • Oil Roti is a buss up shot, Dhal Puri or Dosti Roti, when cooking the cooks uses a brush to apply a mixture of Oil and butter, or Ghee and butter, to both sides of the Roti, the roti is lightly fried when the mixture is applied. We also make roti without oil with is called Sada roti, Sada meaning plain (no oil or filling like Dhal). You can stuff a roti with anything, season potatoes, Sugar, anything you think might taste good!

  • Well the Term "Buss up shot" is very simple how they came up with the name. When Cooking the roti the cook, use the spatual and hits it and it breaks apart. When broken, it looks like a riped up shirt or buss up shirt or shot as we trinis say! Whoever coined the Term is unclear but apparently everyone used it and hence the term "Buss Up Shot" was born. Which is a Paratha type Roti (Multi Layed and oil based).

  • listening to this makes me really hungry.

  • This is so true growing up in Trini when you ask for a roti you have to ask for a chicken, goat or potato. You just can't say I want a roti, the next response would be what kind. We have chicken, goat or potato or what ever. BTW what the hell is a oil roti??

  • hey..i watched ur vid...you are really passionate..luv it..but let me clarify...I am East Indian born Trini..and when I heard the term Roti skin..i was like WHAT D HELL?? Roti have SKIN??! I doh know where that come from...i grew up knowing roti as just the plain flour bread, in different variations...dhal puri, pharatha (doh know where buss up shut come from), sada, dosti, etc...If you ask any East Indian house what they cook...is roti and whatever...roti by itself with some sort of talkarie..

  • @lexibabylove So, if soemone came up to me and say they wanted paratha..i would be like paratha and what?...cause the true term of Roti...is just the bread...TRINI'S however...made the term to mean a sandwich form...so, if she sounded confused don't be mad at her..cause I would prbly be too if I did not know better..that why u ask for...Chicken roti, Goat roti, etc..u use the type you want in front of the word roti...to avoid confusion...so technically, she not really wrong...

  • @lexibabylove I think that hes really complaining about how the lady claimed she was Trini, but did not know the Trini terms.

  • LMAOOOOOO

  • To the misconception to many Trinis a Roti dred, is a flat bread, now I hear everybody saying skin, Roti is not a skin. Roti simply means bread boy!!! Bread!!! If you asking for bussup shot is like you saying I want a hero, give meh a wedge or give me a sub. Da is why the woman watching you funny, like this man eh go say what he want on it, he only want a bussup shot da is it!!! I does eat Roti with Choka, which is a rosted vegi dish and not curry, dhal puri plain, I like that!!!

  • LOL uare really passionate about ya ROTI

  • yur right ah 100%, when u ask for a roti , is either chicken , beef ,etc. i traveled the carribean a lot and in other islands when u ask for a roti is not only the skin , but is only in trinidad u get channa always .

  • haha hillarious

  • I love it! a "buss up shot, roti"haha

  • LoL mah boy, apparently you ah even flickin kno wha is ah roti. Bus up shot is a type of roti hahahahahahaha o lad. So if you sayin bus up shot isn't ah roti an is channa an whatever other goodies inside then wha you go call " The flour thing that was made on ah tahwa ? " If you didnt kno bus up shot is ah roti so you should ah explain yourself to the woman.

  • sooooooo true hoss. if someone doesnt kno wat buss up shut it, dey aint from trini....

  • @foxfafun-I ask my 80 year old Granny who left TNT in the 50's about a Bus up Shot and she said she don’t know. Bus up Shot hasn't always been apart of the TNT mainstream as far as food is concerned.

  • @Stagman they don't know it as buss up shot...ask her about Pharatha...she will know about that...is either sada, pharatha, dosti, dhal puri...to name a few....Idk where the bus up shot come from...

  • @lexibabylove - all that I know is that my mom is from the U.S. and my father side of the Family is from TNT. I lived on the yankee side growing up after my parents divorced and to me Roti has always been the wrap with something in it rolled up. Curry, Chicken, goat, beef, potatoes, but no skin.LOL! In TNT they eat Mango in the Roti sometimes and I never had it like that until I went there. So if a yankee know what it is, why not the person that he was speaking about in the vid?

  • actually Jadee, if you go by most East Indian people in Trinidad for roti, they would just give you the "skin" alone. She may not have known that you wanted a chicken roti. I do believe that we created "chicken roti" but its not a part of other cultures just yet. Give it time, pray about it, and don't fret yourself..lol..respect

  • @365Faith LOL what ? madness .... i going by my east Indian Homie tomorrow and ask him for a roti and see what he will give meh..........I PRESS !!!

  • @AltarCallTV ok, you do that and i would like to know what they say, even if it proves me wrong. Im not fighting you down.!!

  • @AltarCallTV actually 365faith is tottally right im from trinidad and i ask my mom about this question and she saideast indian made roti

  • @AltarCallTV Man, you had me in stiches, I know what you mean Cuz. lol

    Keep up the good work!

  • @365Faith

    and Pan

  • @vitallife2000 Yup, we did create that to. :-)

  • @365Faith

    and Pan

    lol

  • @365Faith "No trini would give you just the skin...the man right...a roti would have something in it...channa, chicken etc. for Diwali we would go and ask for roti skin...

  • @kungfutt He may know people that would give it the way that your implying. But I know that's the way it is, and there are more who agree than reject my opinion.

  • boom! lmao, yuh right boi Jadee

  • I love dis! Too funny! Lawd have mercy! :-) Much blessin brother Trini.

  • Now yuh ask for a buss up shot ... cool no seen, but de gyal behind de counter ... if she was a real trini would just ask you what you want to go with that. She rall tie yuh up with dat question.

Now trow Guyanese into de story ..... dats for a next day ... I ain't gettin into dat war. I saw a Guyanese gurl learning to make dhalpuri .. after it came off de tawa .. she start to (clap de roti) buss it up .. dhal was everywhere ..lol.

Nice vid though rall kicks :) Respect.

  • Well ... yuh wrong and yuh right dred. Roti is really a generic term ..just like bread is a generic term because in Trini we have many types. Sada roti (or BWee roti) is a plain roti. Then there is dhalpuri, dosti and paratha or buss up shot. Now if you are in a roti shop you have to specify what kind chicken, beef, goat etc. The roti in this case is usually dhalpuri. "Eh, gimme a shimp roti, nah ... wit slight peppa".

  • so true!!!!

  • boy tell them like it is eh....WE INVENT ROTI!!!!! and nobody cant tell us otherwise, but eh eh.....u is curry king and i is curry queen...talkin bout curry i feelin 4 ah steamin hot buss up shot right now jed...u see wa u do...hmmmm...meh mouth waterin 4 some curry now :(

  • In T'dadif we go out to eat Roti, (at Patraj etc ) we mean we want dhalpurie with channa & aloo and chicken goat etc. WRAPPED , other than that if we ask for Buss up shut , then the next question asked will be " Paratha (buss up shut) and what?..channa aloo goat etc - you have to spell it out ! .We think of Roti as dhalpurie wrapped already with fillings. However in reality Dhalpurie, Paratha, Sada are ALL TYPES of roti..If I am at home and i say I feeling for Roti my mother will ask what type?

  • you are so right a buss up shut is exactly what u describe I know that and I am haitian smh lol

  • yes he is right.......agreed.

  • boi in part two they reall set yea up dey man it does be taxin wen u the only one an they have about 5 a 6 of the opposition one talkin an the rest just hanging around like cobo and laughin like hyena yes yea doent even kno what ta say but check it i was in a group a gyul eh yea sayin daz good, well all ah them was jamacian an as soon as they hear meh accent they jump on it like a pack a wolves boi an they reall cut meh up so ah went home and cry LOL joken but yes man i felt your pain T&T4life
  • Firstly, I loved your video diatribe. I'm with you on the whole roti confusion thing. As a Trini who has lived abroad since teenagehood in 88, I know exactly what you're saying. You are mostly correct from a Trini point of view. Don't order roti in an Indian restaurant abroad, you will be sorely disappointed. Anyone know where to find a good Trini roti in the LA area?

  • @olunriley LOL Right ? thank you .... he he he

  • no dread I think you are wrong the Roti is in fact just the skin, but I hear you on the Roti being the skin with all the fillings in a trini sense. No really the roti is in fact just the skin, buss up shut is not roti, dhal puri is not roti either. I stand corrected.

  • ROTI is also the name of the most southerly island of Indonesia, it is known to be quite flat--- like the flatbread--- see I'm a REAL TRINI and we love to learn about our world since we mixed with everything! Trinis learned to spell everything phonetically and passed knowledge down verbally hence the confusion-- even people who had no relations because of being kidnapped and traumatized grouped together and claimed to be blood relatives so we lost a lot of or roots--- sad but damn true.

  • Roti is actually a style of cooking flatbread so there are many different types of ROTI--- it is originally a breakfast or street food - IT IS a muslim peasant street food from Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Indonesia--- also ROTI PRATA (buss up shut) (really meaning resembling a busted up shirt- Trini colourful descriptions)--- They usually come with a savory curry stuffing or sweet---- Trini Indians are not even from India, they lost their identity--- Indians don't make ROTI

  • Comment removed

  • Roti actually came from Indonesia and you can find it in Sri Lanka too---- travel is fatal to ignorance--- peace!

  • HAHAHAHA! I like this video. When he ask for roti, the lady just give him the skin. Boy we need educate foreigners on how Trinidad & Tobago invents roti.

  • what about doubles lol. Here's another one relating to this: Its like curry chicken and chicken curry! how de chicken curry itself? hahahaha. Its Curry Chicken. Nice video Jadee love your new album!

  • LMAO i think she really does but hear wha nah, I agree with Richie Righteous && I is ah Trini born && raised there

  • You get Richie accent and ting real good boy! lol

  • It's impossible for a Trini not to know the difference between a roti and buss up shot! IMPOSSIBLE!

  • I agree with you jadee roti is everything wrap but when you ask for a buss up shot roti then they should ask wat type. But question if they say a roti is a just the skin wat will they call the skin wrap with everything.

  • Dat is y it hav CHICKEN ROTI, GOAT ROTI etc etc

  • All i have to say is lol.

you had down the richie good there boy

  • uhh bussupshot and roti is different.

roti = chk, duck, beef, pork u name it concks etc

bussupshot u will find more at weddings etc.. eat it with channel and aloe/mango chutney etc which is basically roti bussed up with marjarine using a beater.

  • @ Petz 101 Thank you Sir ..... I PRESS !!!

  • In Trinidad & Tobago, a Roti consists of Roti, with your curry inside. You ask for Chicken Roti, Goat Roti, Shrimp Roti, Vege Roti, etc.

Buss-Up-Shot, is different from "Roti". When you ask for Buss-Up-Shot, they should just ask you "What type?" meaning "Chicken, Beef, Goat, etc."

If you want "Roti Skin" only, then that's different.

  • hahahahahah i jus luv how u impersonate Rich's voice....hahahahah....But naw Joel is right....Guyanese n Trinis got 2 diff meanin as to wat Roti is called!!!!

Jadee u is problems boi hahaahhaahh

  • the indean invented roti i am trini u dont know wat u saying that is why u got kicked out of your apatment

  • yo a roti and a busupshuk is the same

  • Comment removed

  • he right Im guyanses but I'll say this lol I learn something just now!!! wah Guyana consider roti and what trinidad consider a roti is two completely different things lol!!!! Ultimately I think Jadee is right though lol!!

  • im half trini...half guyanese(born in trinidad)...but dem guyanese tink dey know everything hahahaaa......chicken curry...
