  • i cannot get this out of my head.

  • geez,good SONG and PERFORMANCE............

  • "An error occurred, please try again later" every time i try to load this video only.

  • why so many dislikes! Imogen's first album is a true classic, and this song is just a part of the complete work of art.

  • why doesn't it play anymore? it keeps saying "an error occured" or something

  • reposted a version of this at JGAQVdFMwDg so plug that into the link location above to see this video.

  • you know, i love this song, but it makes me think of a really creepy ghost story from a book.

  • Can you re-upload? it doesn't play anymore.

  • Sadly this video seems to have died.Any chance of a re-load?

  • Sadly this video seems to have died. Any chance of a reload?

  • omg! I love this song

  • first time listening to this imogen heap. god her voice is freakin amazing! love it!!

  • @GTWarriors if this is ur first time listening to her...then you have been missing out, alll i have to say is search for Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap...a bit confusing but if u take the time out to really listen to it the lyrics make perfect sense...if u cant figure the lyrics out try googling it alot of ppl decipher her work

  • i wish there were more women like her.

  • @JACKnoSally Therer are!

  • ahh.. headphones + Immi = Heaven!

  • i love when SONOS did this song its like me favorite song of theirs :)

  • True however, it is possible to take any sound out there and use it as a vehicle to express your perspective on an issue-(Andy Warhall-Photo Art-or crafts) with a hook, like an ulternate MIX-witch can have rap or added synths or instruments-in this way imitaion is the sencerest form of flattery-Kept in perspective it only widens the creative posibilities for a given hook-as a refrain to the original Artist-but they will get paid in free public advertising-The Hooks are too short to sue.

  • You know how sometimes a musician's first album isn't always that good but in time they get better? Immi is one of the rare few who is amazing from the start.

  • I'm amazed at her range! She can go from singing a low F to a high G with absolute ease...she is definately a musical genius.

  • Rap:

    Retards.

    Attempting.

    Poetry.

  • This was shot in 1998?! Thats what i love about this kind of music, no best before date. Lasts forever, doesn't just linger on the charts for a couple of weeks then disappears never to be heard again. I LOVE imogen, if you ever get the chance to see her live... GO!! She's brilliant! :)

  • I love this song so much. <3

  • Immi's I Megaphone was released in '98?! I was like 4 yrs. old and I didn't notice that? Oh man, i missed a lot.

  • i luuuuuv this song!

  • My God, Imogen is like the Jesus of music.

I think that if her and Sufjan Steven had a music baby, I would just kill myself in utter joy.

  • This song is so full of soul...........perfect for Imogens beautiful versatile voice......love the haunting video too.......no safe mainstream here !

  • actually this song is about her dog named Boy who won't come to her when she calls it... just kidding...

  • @bardobound after reading your post I can't stop myself from hearing it like she is calling a dog. Lol

  • Ok...wow I just found out that this video exists just now and I love it. I never knew she had a video for this song. Its not exactly what I think when I hear the song (I amagine it more sultery and pleasant, not that this is bad or anything) but as the actisticness goes its really beautiful!!! I love the last bit at the end when she blows away in a puff of dust. Too cool.

    I love you Imogen Heap!!!

  • @INF3darkgreen haha its dark isnt it? but yet, so full of beauty and emotion...

  • reading all the commments about the derulo debate lol i just think that artists especially mainstream pop artists have and will always sample songs from more talented, original artists and lets be honest imogens part makes that derulo song, i dont think it would've been in the charts without it... and hopefully people will look imogen up and discover her music, there will always be mainstream crap and there will aways be innovative musicians you just have to support the gooduns

  • One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.

  • It's so funny to see Immi all "rocker" again.

  • i was in dance class the other day, and we were learning a combination. All i could think was "i seriously hope its an imogen song..." i figured it wouldn't be. This song came on. My thoughts? "THANK YOU GOD!"

  • This is one of the songs she played when I saw her in Philly on May 27th. Definitely one of my favorites. ;-)

  • And not to say that Derulo's song will just bring Imogen popularity. Isn't it so?

  • @Seviexe I seriously doubt that someone who listens to that guy would like Imogen Heap. Those are two genres that rarely overlap. Unless you're one of those "I listen to pretty much everything" people.

  • @JonnyCrash I am, and most of the people I know are like that too. And don't forget that Jason Derulo's song isn't really rap, it's light and melodic, and taking that I think that many people would like both Derulo and Imogen.

But also remember that Imogen's music is something you GOT TO like when you hear it :)

  • So beautiful. It's tearing away at me.

  • smh scary ass song...ilumati v_v

  • her voice is so beautiful it has a sertain calmness to it

  • I kind of what her to do a duet or someting with Alanis Morrisette. =)

  • I love this song!

  • wonderous how mature this song is,she was barely a chick out of high school when she did this...makes me wonder

  • she's amazing.

  • I couldn't agree more! Artists create from the heart. No one should attempt to manipulate such a personal expression nor should anyone pretend to have the ability to interpret it.

  • She is so talented. I love her

  • There are no words to describe this song, it is that funking amazing.

  • A very beautiful song from a very talented lady, I find it haunting and enchanting. I love the way it glide into your hearing and doesn't assault you for having the balls to listen to it. I tend to like singers not screamers. In that vein I find her one of the best I have heard in a long time.

FYI, in case some of you knuckle heads didn't realize. Perfect people are fake and usually stupid, as well as the simple fact that no one is ever really perfect.

  • @lves517 True dat. Some people want to be perfect, for good and bad reasons. What really sucks is when you have a decent person, and people think he's the next thing to sliced bread, and (unintentionally) set him up for a fall. Such is the way of mankind. We have holes in our hearts and we try to fill them up the wrong way. We're all guilty. But some people realize it sooner than others. And sometimes get punished for it.

  • her style of music isnt so different a few years back

  • i love this song!!

it makes me sleep at night.

  • she looks so different there

  • amazing song!!!! :-D

  • @leoblc811

lol the snaggletooth, i wouldnt expect anything different from a british chick.

  • The lyrics and the music combine to create such a powerful song! The words perfectly describe a situation in my life right now...

  • <3 i love this song... the lyrics are amazing!

  • true

  • I love how uniqe her music and style is. It's rare to find that in artists these days.

  • she has a chipped

  • omg! immi looks really beautifulll in this video :) x

  • i'm going insane for this song...love it...she's got such a voice...LOVE it! 5 stars!!!!!

  • Amazing <3

  • This song has gotten me through some rough times...I love it!

  • god she is amazing.

  • God agrees with you.

  • Just noticed Immi had a chipped tooth! Must have had it capped since then.

  • this song is amazing ♥ but it's so sad indeed! cuz it makes u feel of how much you want someone u can't have :(( amazing though ♥♥♥

  • i like this its dark and emotianle she is just amazing <3

  • ohh I love this song

    greetings from Hungary!

  • She's coming to Prague in March but I can't go to her concert. :'(

  • beautiful song. there is no one else like the beautiful imogen heap. such an ethereal voice

  • I love love this song. fills me up with all sorts of emotions. its so beautiful.

  • the best!!!!

  • love this vid/song...immi looks so teenaged...it's beautiful and scary at the same time.

  • loved this song for years....simple and beautiful, and it seems it means a lot to other people too...

  • this song make me want to cry

  • This song is so beautiful...

  • dead gf use to sing this to me.

  • sorry for ur loss my man.

  • im sorry for your loss

  • Why am I only just now finding this music video? It's gorgeous!

  • beautiful.

  • Beautiful song...

  • AMO ESTA CANCION ♥

  • i love you imogen!!!!

  • COME HERE PEEEEEEEEEG!!!!!

  • qst canzone è magnifica!!!

  • I LIKE THE SAMPLED SONG. WHO CARES. he obviously got permission, LOL.... plus it turns people on to the rest of imogen's playlist, hopefully...

  • If every man had his own Imogen Heap I earnestly believe that there would not be the troubles of the world we have today. They should clone her. And can i have three please.

  • Amen, brother. Clone her. If I had 3 Immis in my life, I might just expire from too much bliss!

I don't know her personally, but Immi might just be the most wonderful woman on the planet.

  • I would like an Imogen, yes.

With four girls, four of whom were Imogen, I'm sure I'd get nothing done at all.

  • beauty *-* my God my God

  • sooo am i the only one that hates that her song hide and eek ahs been sampled for a rap song

  • gah i hate it it annoyed me hearing it soo much, i hate all these rappers "sampling" songs, the sample is usually the best thing about the song, and then they work around it paper thin rap, dont get me wrong i like all forms of music, but mainstream rap is awful its worse than pop, and all these rappers act like they have all this cred and that theyre artistes, its such a joke

  • You should look up Warren G and Sissel's 'Prince Igor.' That's the saddest example. Still, I think Eminem's 'Stan,' despite the fact that the sample is a good one, really makes something different and worthwhile from the sample. Also, listen to Immortal Technique's 'Freedom of Speech.' Most awesome sample ever.

  • Why is it so awful that rappers sample these amazing women? I think it's a step in the right direction for them.

  • When Rappers sample people who have worked tirelessly to create their own music, they are destroying the purity which is the original music.

Rappers don't realize that lots of people work really hard on their own music, while, they throw some words together and slap in an auto-tuner.

Imogen creates all of her music pretty much independently, and works on every delicate aspect of each of her songs. The product she creates should not be manipulated by someone who doesn't understand that.

  • you do know he had to have permission to sample her song right.

  • you know, i totally agree with you 101%!

but the plain simple truth is that all those 'rappers' who sample have to get permission.i don't understand why so many ppl make such a big deal out of a sampled song saying that the artist killed or raped it when the original artist clearly didn't have that much problems with it..or else they would be like sorry, i work rly hard bringing something original and giving it away would ruin the purity..

  • I know that the artist who is sampled is allowing the sampling to occur, but for what reason?

I feel that certain "musicians" should understand more about music to be called as such; until then they should be referred to as "samplers" or "spoken word artists."

  • As if white people never stole black music.

    ...

  • Woah woah woah.

We're not talking about racism here. I'm not pointing at anything like that. There are plenty of people in all categories that are different races.

...I was going to logically explain this but I just don't think you'll listen, so I'll refrain from trying to change your mind.

  • @tsorett OH MY GOD I TOTALLY AGREE!!! It's totally horrible how some people don't even know Imogen Heap made that song! It's so ridiculous. A small sample is one part, but taking an entire verse and using it for the chorus of a song is just lazy. I wonder how much work or thought was put into that song. Probably not a lot.

  • @tsorett while everything you said may be true, it doesnt change the fact that she (or at least the record company that owns her material) still signed off on the sample being used in that piece o' shit song, so she probably doesnt care how or where its used so long as shes getting paid

  • @AliClifton that is sadly true. IMOGEN WHY??? haha

  • @tsorett i dunno wich rapsongs you heard but the real rappers bring their own music, with real problems not like ghetto shit and stuff. But real problems like death and abortus and such things. Try searching reef the lost cause or nas. You will never hear them autotune

  • @krommn I believe tsorett is refering to "Whatcha Say" by Jason Derulo. His rap song was built from what I beleive is the bridge (if that's what it's called) of Imogen's song "Hide and Seek". I agree with you about "real rap" tho. The kind of rap that isn't really on the radio much.

  • @tsorett Music is all about sampling and adapting though. To each his own. To discredit another artist would be just as ignorant though. :P

  • @tsorett now, now. I see where you are coming from, but she gave permision to who ever wrote "whatch ya say" to build their entire song from a portion of "Hide and Seek". There are fabulous rapers out there. just usually not on the radio (at least where i am). =)

  • @jmafiddle

    Lol, fabulous rapers... :P

  • @tsorett so true

  • @tsorett Even though I am a great fan of Imogen's music and even though I'm mostly allergic to american rap, I must disagree, for as long there are people willing to listen to rap, even the poorly created rap with stealed samples, it's okay for such a rap to be produced. It's not like you can't just listen to original Imogen.

And it's not like rappers always waste the purity of original. If you want a proof, just listen to Flipsyde's "Happy Birthday", for example, built on Tatu's "Gomenasai".

  • @tsorett I feel the same way. There is good rap. My favourite is Mr. Hurricane by Beast..(if you really wanna call it rap.) She did give permission for them to used the lyrics tho or something.

  • @tsorett Yeaup! I think most rappers don't understand music and thats why the sampling comes in. They have cute rhymes but.... children can do that .

  • @sickasso72 Bullshit. I listen to rap and make beats using samples, but I love Imogen Heap and appreciate all kinds of music. Saying rappers don't understand music because they sample is like saying all rock singers live sad lives because they keep singing about suicide.

  • @tsorett you're right. absolutely right.

  • @tsorett

What if they do understand that?

  • @tsorett Um, actually there are some fantastic rappers out there who put tons of work into writing their lyrics. Listen to eminem's old stuff, rap is not the problem. Jason DeRulo is not a rapper, nor is he a singer, he's just some fag who they handed a record deal with autotune. But I love rap, and I love Imogen even more.

  • @tsorett Couldn't agree with you more.

  • @tsorett it's rude to say 'rappers' cause what you heard is a dudu-ass spazz on the television, not a rapper. sampling IS a medium to create new music. just because the terrible comercial stuff is as bad doesn't give you any right to speak ill of an art form you know nothing about. (btw that song the sample is being used in really SUCKS, you're right there)

  • no im with on that

  • it wasnt a damn rap song

  • Yes you are the only one!

  • She writes, produces and records her own music from her own studio. She's authentic and super-talented.

  • imogean heap is freakin awesome and any body who thinks her music sucks well you really need to get your ears fixed

  • it is not that i think her music sucks it ijust that her music was like no other in the imegaphone album and she is going mainstream since hide and seek i like her underground is all

  • I love Imogen<3

I love this CD, and I love this song.

It's one of my favorites off any of her albums.

She never ceases to amaze me. :)

  • how i miss this imogen heap imegaphone will all ways remain as one of my favorite albums of all time

  • I second that! I loved it soo much. I loved listening to the whole album for hours.

  • I have followed Imogen and have loved all her music , i like the fact she is not that popular as she is all about the music and damn is it good music!!!!!!

  • The grotesque thing about today's music is that the video and the actor are now more important than the actual music. What's really sad is that generations of musicians putting out great product are not being recognized because they don't look good on film. It's rare to find the combination of good looking and talented.

  • i somewhat agree you, but the video is part of the beauty and the art of it all.

  • The video actually reminds me of a Dali painting.

Her voice is all-consuming & addictive.

  • It does. Maybe that's what she was intending, or maybe those paintings were an inspiration.

  • her talent is beyond measure. let's be honest. musical gift, lady gaga or immogen? just so messed up. people = shit. she is incredible

  • she's so cute and british. "I fancied him." lol<3

  • Haha that is really cute <3

  • my favorite song she has ever recorded

  • I love her voice. It's so different and intoxicating.

  • I love this song...so glad my friend found it for me...it means so much

  • o.o I know this sounds weird, but the lyrics sound an awful lot like a girl talking about reocurring dreams about a man she wishes would hurry up and appear in her waking world, since she harbors a hope that he's really another man dreaming himself with her at night- maybe someone she knows, maybe not. Then again, that's a bit literal for the song.. 'Unno.

  • I guess for me, the meaning of a song vs a songs video are two different things. I like the video, yet, think I still like my own personal video in my head. The words take me to my own place... When perhaps you may have met that 'special' person, yet the timing is all wrong, and your mind still wonders to those lost encounters and your heart still longs for your 'boy'.

  • I like the way you put that...I've been there. :-(

  • Then when she thinks she's found him through the sand it's all blue with calm blue water, meaning when he comes to her she will be in peace and contentedness and finally rejoin life again, to go from barren lifeless sand to cool living water. But then she sees it's not her boy after all and returns to her isolation where she then turns to sand herself, this is because she is saying she is nothing without her boy, she doesn't live or exist if he doesn't come to her.

  • I think the meaning of the song is basically that she is saying she wants her "boy" to find her and go to her because she is in a barren wasteland of chaos (Hence alone in a horrid dark sandy (sandy=no plant life can live there, nothing can live there) place with the red colours symbolises her passion for him but also the chaos she is in now. The sand statues of men around her emphasises her loneliness and longing for her "Boy".

  • Saw her on Letterman. I am becoming a fast fan. Wow.

  • I <3 IMOGEN SONGS!!!!

  • I don't completely understand what the message is here, but I love her voice and she is amazing.

  • Comment removed

  • whats the message of the video??

  • ok enough with the miley talk, lets talk immi here, its her first single, and she was AMAZING liek ususal :)

  • i agree, lets talk about how Immi is so great! enough of Miley!

  • Yeah, OMG, how is it that Miley f*cking Cyrus get into every single conversation here at youtube... how the hell can you talk about her while listening to this gorgeus song by IMOGENHEAP, one of the most incredible and original artists out there!? I don't get it? Miley Cyrus, she's just overrated. Imogen's got 1000 times the talent, so talk about her and this amazing song instead! End of discussion ;)

  • immi is hotter :P

  • I agree. I don't even like her and she is way overrated. We should just enjoy the escape from her overly advertised self and focus on Imogen. lol

  • Let me make it quite clear, I am NOT a Miley fan. But of course I am not an 13 year old girl.... My point was simply I am glad to know that the young sheeples of tomorrow are being exposed to different music. Maybe they won't annoy everyone so much once they grow up and gain some perspective. We can hope...

  • Did anyone think that maybe it is a good thing that Miley has directed our young minds- they need to be exposed to better music options than the typical main stream. Maybe someone might get a taste for better music. I thought the whole point to forums like this was to enrich our lives.... Not to tell people to jump from a cliff or to #@!% off... Please can't we enjoy the music?

  • god damnit Miley fucking Cyrus.

  • will you Miley Cyrus fans just fuck off (unless your really here as an Imogen Heap fan, not just because Miley told you) cuz really, where is your respect for Imogen? huh? i bet that Miley doesnt write, mix, produce and create her own music and songs now does she? Immi does and if your only here cuz of Miley then just GET LOST! if Miley told you to jump off a cliff into a ravine, would you do it?

IMOGEN HEAP AND IMOGEN HEAP FANS FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm an Imogen Heap fan AND I'm here because I saw this on Miley's twitter and I had never heard it before. So what are you going to say to me, hmm? By the way, Miley does write and create her own songs and music. I'm not a huge fan of hers and even I know that. You're very ignorant.

  • eh didnt you read it properly? i said "unless your here as an Imogen Heap fan, not only because Miley told you to" which means if your a miley Cyrus fan but are also a Imogen Heap fan then thats ok!!

  • Yes but technically I only checked it out because Miley said she was listening to it. I'm not even a Miley fan, I just thought it would be interesting to know what kind of music the girl liked. And so did all of her fans who came here. Is it a crime to be curious about a celebrity's musical interest? Because that's what you're saying.

  • no as a matter of fact, thats not what im saying. i hate Miley (thats just my opinion) but im pretty proud that she would listen to Imogen Heap, but you Miley fans are flying in here and making it look like your trying to score Miley fan points!

  • you think so? i dont. maybe it seems that theyre just trying to score fan points but i know alot of my friends on twitter were just interested in the song because its a less known imogen heap song. i dont hate miley but im not a fan of her hannah montanna music. but i think if she is interested in songs like this she has to be a pretty bright girl. i feel bad that so many people are like "fuck miley cyrus" just cause she put what song shes listening to on her twitter and her fans looked into it.

  • if Imogen Heap posted something saying "Check out The Climb by Miley Cyrus" then we would but how would you feel if we just kept going on and on and on about being there because of Imogen. it was ok at first but now its just getting annoying. im not against Miley really, but i find her personality bitter.

  • Well i guess i just cant understand that, cause I wouldnt care if people did that.

  • you may think you couldnt care, but if it ever happened, you might begin to care. i didnt care at first but it was kinda going too far. and anyway, why are we screaming at each other about Miley? this is Imogens video and song and time. we both should be appreciating how much work Immi put into this, how much of Imogens heart and soul goes into every song, album and video. lets stop arguing about Miley and enjoy Immi's work, agreed?

  • no im serious i wouldnt care a bit. i come to videos like this to listen to the songs and i think its cool when someone else is inspired by another to go and listen. and idk about u but i wasnt screaming, lol... but yes i agree, and im glad i came here i love this song now.
