I'm a Army Junior ROTC cadet, and my parents accepting that I want to join the army in my near future is something that I've tried talking to them about. But under circumstance, they don't agree with this decision but will allow it. I am proud that I will be able to serve my country, and proud that I will be alongside the worlds greatest soldiers.
I am respecting soldiers who fight for their brothers in arms, but I will never ever understand why one could seriously want to join the US army, just to get shot invading countries for their natural resources (Iraq) or revenge on random people (Afghanistan), get treated worse than dirt, and be ignored upon returning home.
Seriously joining this club, and being a hero, is not a smart choice.

as I remember, we have:
- 350 000 officers
- 200 000 warrent-officers
- 600 000 privates and sergants - conscripts
- 50 000 privates and sergants - contractors :)))

lol, for me, as a russian, this commercials looks funny. We usually see on TV trade goods commercials, commercials before votes etc. , but a MILITARY commercial? :D To promote military service? We have conscription, so the "motivating" is the choose - to join the army or get jailed for 8 years (avoiding conscription is a crime - jailing during peace time or death penalty during war time) :D
