Well, in the European versions of the game the fountain is called bathroom (such as the German one which I'm playing), but at least in German bathroom and toilet are different things. Bathroom is the place where you clean your teath, take a bath, etc., not necessarily taking a dump...

Well, somebody's probably already said it, as late as I am in commenting, but in Japanese (at least) "bathroom" actually means the room with a bath in it-- that is to say, the bathing room. What we'd think of as "the bathroom" is called "the toilet". (Well, "toire" IIRC, but still...) So if that makes the fountain translation any less weird, then there you go...

"Bathroom" does not necessarily mean that the water is sewage-type water. If you think about it, the only reason we call them bathrooms is because we BATHE in them. Hence, the pool of water in the dome could very well be some type of bathtub.
