  • Why is this Real Hip Hop video inside of that Punk ass DRAKE background????? Smh

  • This is hip-hop my favorite rapper 4 ever the GOD Rakim...

  • SEE, THIS IS REAL MUSIC. WE NEED MORE OF THIS

  • crazy thing is that he was like 19 at the time

  • Rakim looks like a black wolverine

  • You know you a beast rapper when: A vain comes out of your neck when you rap, your dj keeps a straight face through the whole career, and you got Flava Flav dancing in your video.

  • 'I gotta' question, that's serious as cancer, who could keep the average dancer hyper as a heart attack, nobody smilin', cause you're expressin' the rhyme that I'm stylin', lol. With Rakim's style of delivery an flow, that's arguably some of the most amazing lyrics in the history of hip hop. This track introduced me to this "sacred" hip hop duo, and 25 years later, this sounds better now than it did then, hip hop such as this is like fine wine, it gets better with time, perfect 80's hip hop...

  • Hip hop ain't dead you fucking idiots, there are still MANY artists out there that represent real hip hop, you just have to look for it yourself. Everyone knows that good music in 2012 isn't going to get the recognition it deserves. The only crap that gets attention is that wack sellout bullshit computerized and manufactured by those evil corporate money hungry luciferian record companies for the sole purpose of spreading ignorance amongst the people.

  • I just tell 'em for fun, free, and cash... Lyrical giant no doubt!!!

  • I member listening to this song, then almost forgot about it. Then Played Saints Row the first one.... Oh yea still a siick ass song till this day xD

  • OG

  • Kings!

  • I agree that radio hip hop is dead, but as long as these songs are on the internet we can still enjoy them and get people to listen to them. and hopefully, one day, this will get played on a radio station. I mean, The Beatles is even older than Eric B. & Rakim and they still get played, so there's no excuse for radio stations to say that they are old.

  • damn, I want a boombox and some kangol, shit i couldnt buy back in the days

  • @Rauser142 So cool on the internet

  • Pure Hip Hop & wow flav making a appearance was fresh, but no chucky D too

  • dope

  • @Rauser142 yo momma pays other men to let her suck their dicks!!

  • Im 12 and I listen to this hip hop everyday (Rakim, LL Cool J, Nas) 'cause nowadays people like Lil Wayne are always on the radio with their simplified verses and constant conversations.

However im not gonna complain, 'cause if i want real hip hop through my ears all these real songs are still here ;)

  • @TheGingRAle glad to see you are part of the future-I feel better knowing that people like you will be around to fix what those before you(lil wayne fans) have broken. Good luck to you in your life's adventures!

  • @treetopolist1 thank you, man.

  • The R!..best MC of all time!! Remember when this came out,was blown away..Classic!!..good to see Flav in the vid...yeah boyeeee!!!

  • LIKE A GREAT POET ONCE SAID, IT AIN'T WHERE U FROM IT'S WHERE U @ .STRONG ISLAND NY. STAND UPPP. CHIEF COACHESE, CI / LI CARLTON PARK ALL DAY.

  • must see 'Drake - The motto' lol, im here to avoid that, thanks vevo -_-

  • "Real" Hip-Hop is only dead for people with closed minds and no drive to seek out the real art that is still out there.

  • @BobbyEshleman it aint dead-it's underground and needs to be fed.

  • @BobbyEshleman It's also the mentality though, I mean you don't see people dress or do this 87 style anymore.

  • Exactly.

  • @BobbyEshleman I agree its out there, but its not easy to find with the media slinging and promoting the garbage that is considered the "best" by the media...but yea art never dies it just evolves and its out there I agree...but this stuff is classic bro.

  • Pretty good.

  • this rhyme could murder emcees today!!!.....TIMELESS SHIT

  • @shateeksupremebeing7 it does murda them that's why most of these 90's 2000's babies won't listen to it....way to raw for them and that hollywood thing they swear is hip hop.

  • this rhyme could murder emcees today!!!.....TIMELESS SHIT

youtube almost ruins it by putting 3 faggots around it though..

  • E! Polacy słuchacie?

  • Tunnnnne

  • I was 3 years old when this was made and it's still epic and better than 99% of today's music. How could any true hip hop fan not like this?

  • the fact they have an advert for lil w*yne on here is blasphemous to say the least

  • assap rocky brough me here

I'm a beat producer/DJ, u may wanna check me out. But that's not why i'm spamming this message!

I'm looking for a good rapper who wanna make a track "project" with me.

    The track project will Include:

    - Intro with u and me speakin to each other (quick)...

    - Chorus vocal scratches who tells you things u're about to answer.

    - a quick outro, me tellin u got a deal and so on.

I've already written down what to say (not your verses)

Pm Me for info about the beat and more

  • A lot of people dont realize that everything evolves. Hip Hop has evolved, this isnt anymore hip hop then Watch The Throne or the such. He definitely is a pioneer but that doesnt make him "better" than anyone.

  • @510xela True that everything evolves but the beats & flows sound better from 87-99 compared to the beats & flows of 00-12, so if you had to sit down & analyze B.I.G song (I dont want to live no more) compare it to 50 cents (wanksta)....B.I.G track just does something to you etc or TUPAC tracks vs EMINEM tracks..

  • @taecamperva Well thats just one example that is in favor of the 90's, Stan by Eminem is one of the greatest Hip Hop songs of all time but Eminem evolved straight from some of these 90's rappers. If a song does something to you thats all subjective and is different for everyone.

  • @510xela TRUE but 80's & 90's still win

  • @taecamperva Opinions

  • @510xela i meant everyday struggle

  • I knew this one kid, he was the greatest of ALL TIME! He didn't wear metro-sexual clothes, he didn't mimic a barbie character, he wasn't afraid to be a part of the streets, he actually wanted to be great, he cared about his legacy and what people would think of him 20 years after he was gone, no one will never be as new or creative as he was.... In short, he was just so dope. He died at 13 yrs old! I hope his legacy lives forever.

RIP " Golden Era True Hip Hop"... I love you... RIP 1984-1997

  • @rockstar80 damn, bro. I couldn't have said it any better than that. that was deep!

  • @rockstar80 whatz about 2002? i mean, black rob, game records, dmx, ruff raiders, all after 1997!

  • @rockstar80 hip hop still here man, just hard to find...kendrick lamar, dom kennedy, freddie gibbs, curren$y, blu, stalley to name a few underground kats.

  • @rockstar80

but what does wearing metrosexual clothes, mimicking a barbie character and not being part of the streets have to do with how good of a rapper you are? and caring about what people think about you makes you great?

  • @rockstar80 Hip Hop ain't dead. People are calling Hip Hop dead ;)

  • wow would like bling like that :)

  • REAL FUCKING HIP HOP!!!!!

I feel so sorry for this new generation. They just don't know what REAL HIP HOP is...

  • @Marsournexthome luckily i was born in 95 so real hip hop is in my blood, and honestly i find it offensive how you think everyone in this generation is hopeless, we still got s few kids like me :)

  • @TheStalerTaco its just a new generation ....if you real then you recognize....recognize the great rap from the late 80's and all of the 90's but bring ya new flava to the game.......im older that you i grew up(my teen years) in the 90's

  • @TheStalerTaco You're right man. I shouldn't generalize like that. I apologize. I am glad you know what's up. Please try to spread your knowledge to the rest of the generation...

  • Is that flava flave dancin' on here??? ***lookin' close**

  • @iwritethemsongs I think it is, he's doing his dance like on the '...Nation of Millions...' tour recording.

  • This song use to make me feel sexy, tough, & invincible when I walked down the street listenin' to it blastin' from my lil boom box as a young girl preteen lol, he is the reason I fell in love with New York boys back in the day and I'm still lovin 'em - he is so fine and still is

  • no///but they were real with it///u didnt want to vattle them or see them alone in a dark alley for real...they were(are) true NY street...these kids nowadays are on stage...

  • Rakim was the truth. He and Eric B had a classic sound that still rocks the house today! He truly did "hold the mic like a grudge" since he was one of the first rappers with a serious attitude. Cause even though, their groove was funky they didn't talk about happy parties. I loved it because life in the ghetto is not necessarily peaches and cream but I must say with some sadness that he maybe largely responsible for the gangsta shit that we get too much of today.

  • @MrBillc1023 naw it was West Coast Rap though I like real Gangsta Rap that came in the 90's it gave Tupac, Biggie, Wu Tang and all that dope shit

  • Bless The Mic & The Gods..This is classic Hip Hop New school period!!!!!

  • ORiGiNal ClaSSik

  • amazing!!!

  • They don't make music like they used to...*le sigh*

  • eric b looks like a teddy bear

  • people born in the 70's 80's are lucky basterds...jk yall are lucky though

  • yeah hip hop isn't dead, it has been replaced by pop-rap. Talking instead of singing don't make you hip-hop. HH has a ideology, ideology can't die.

  • is that Flavor Flav lmao?

  • saints row anyone??

  • this song is no joke. all the old school rappers changed like snoop dogg sweat and dr, dre i need a doctor.

  • @trickster604 yep i agree some changed some didn't krs one is back and his new songs are still fresh like real rap is supposed to be

  • Who the fuck is Mike Posner? And, for that matter, why is his ad interrupting my musical experience?

  • REAL RAP.PEACE TO DA GOD RAKIM.ALLAH
