You know you a beast rapper when: A vain comes out of your neck when you rap, your dj keeps a straight face through the whole career, and you got Flava Flav dancing in your video.
'I gotta' question, that's serious as cancer, who could keep the average dancer hyper as a heart attack, nobody smilin', cause you're expressin' the rhyme that I'm stylin', lol. With Rakim's style of delivery an flow, that's arguably some of the most amazing lyrics in the history of hip hop. This track introduced me to this "sacred" hip hop duo, and 25 years later, this sounds better now than it did then, hip hop such as this is like fine wine, it gets better with time, perfect 80's hip hop...
Hip hop ain't dead you fucking idiots, there are still MANY artists out there that represent real hip hop, you just have to look for it yourself. Everyone knows that good music in 2012 isn't going to get the recognition it deserves. The only crap that gets attention is that wack sellout bullshit computerized and manufactured by those evil corporate money hungry luciferian record companies for the sole purpose of spreading ignorance amongst the people.
I agree that radio hip hop is dead, but as long as these songs are on the internet we can still enjoy them and get people to listen to them. and hopefully, one day, this will get played on a radio station. I mean, The Beatles is even older than Eric B. & Rakim and they still get played, so there's no excuse for radio stations to say that they are old.
Im 12 and I listen to this hip hop everyday (Rakim, LL Cool J, Nas) 'cause nowadays people like Lil Wayne are always on the radio with their simplified verses and constant conversations.
However im not gonna complain, 'cause if i want real hip hop through my ears all these real songs are still here ;)
@TheGingRAle glad to see you are part of the future-I feel better knowing that people like you will be around to fix what those before you(lil wayne fans) have broken. Good luck to you in your life's adventures!
@BobbyEshleman I agree its out there, but its not easy to find with the media slinging and promoting the garbage that is considered the "best" by the media...but yea art never dies it just evolves and its out there I agree...but this stuff is classic bro.

A lot of people dont realize that everything evolves. Hip Hop has evolved, this isnt anymore hip hop then Watch The Throne or the such. He definitely is a pioneer but that doesnt make him "better" than anyone.
@510xela True that everything evolves but the beats & flows sound better from 87-99 compared to the beats & flows of 00-12, so if you had to sit down & analyze B.I.G song (I dont want to live no more) compare it to 50 cents (wanksta)....B.I.G track just does something to you etc or TUPAC tracks vs EMINEM tracks..
@taecamperva Well thats just one example that is in favor of the 90's, Stan by Eminem is one of the greatest Hip Hop songs of all time but Eminem evolved straight from some of these 90's rappers. If a song does something to you thats all subjective and is different for everyone.
I knew this one kid, he was the greatest of ALL TIME! people always say wayne isn't as good as the older rappers, well check my remix with Wayne, Pac, Rakim and Guru on my wall and you will see that Wayne is up there with the greats!
@christianitymustfall i really like Death Certificate and The Predator, or The Slim Shady LP and The Marshall Mathers LP or Rakim lyricall magic but the other are indifferent rapper's Xzibit is way better than Eazy motherfucking E
@Marsournexthome luckily i was born in 95 so real hip hop is in my blood, and honestly i find it offensive how you think everyone in this generation is hopeless, we still got s few kids like me :)
@TheStalerTaco its just a new generation ....if you real then you recognize....recognize the great rap from the late 80's and all of the 90's but bring ya new flava to the game.......im older that you i grew up(my teen years) in the 90's
@TheStalerTaco You're right man. I shouldn't generalize like that. I apologize. I am glad you know what's up. Please try to spread your knowledge to the rest of the generation...
This song use to make me feel sexy, tough, & invincible when I walked down the street listenin' to it blastin' from my lil boom box as a young girl preteen lol, he is the reason I fell in love with New York boys back in the day and I'm still lovin 'em - he is so fine and still is
no///but they were real with it///u didnt want to vattle them or see them alone in a dark alley for real...they were(are) true NY street...these kids nowadays are on stage...
Rakim was the truth. He and Eric B had a classic sound that still rocks the house today! He truly did "hold the mic like a grudge" since he was one of the first rappers with a serious attitude. Cause even though, their groove was funky they didn't talk about happy parties. I loved it because life in the ghetto is not necessarily peaches and cream but I must say with some sadness that he maybe largely responsible for the gangsta shit that we get too much of today.
If everyone reading this could take some time out of there day & check out my music I'd greatly appreciate it .. I'm a 19-Year Old dominican rapper from Yonkers,NY trying to make something of his talent ..I know mad unsigned people do these kind of comments but I can garantee you that my music will not disappoint you.... If you love real hip hop give me a shot.... greatly appreciate it... Peace!

@TomCatSwag To me, all music today feels grey. If you feel the same way, then play. Pure hiphop poetry. Substance. He took a fuckin time machine from the early 90s....

Hello Everyone!
It’s Music that’s keeping me alive.
My life is so difficult and the only thing to forget my problems is the Music.
All of you will think I’m crazy but you’re wrong
Because singing and writing I can be who really I am.
I’m so grateful because now I can smile, dreaming, screaming. (And I owe it all to music and to god)
Well, I made some covers and I just upload it to my channel and I’ll be grateful if you stop by my channel and check it out.
Thank you so much!!

Marsournexthome 1 month ago
@Marsournexthome luckily i was born in 95 so real hip hop is in my blood, and honestly i find it offensive how you think everyone in this generation is hopeless, we still got s few kids like me :)

@TheStalerTaco its just a new generation ....if you real then you recognize....recognize the great rap from the late 80's and all of the 90's but bring ya new flava to the game.......im older that you i grew up(my teen years) in the 90's
nutlil2 1 month ago

MrBillc1023 1 month ago
@MrBillc1023 naw it was West Coast Rap though I like real Gangsta Rap that came in the 90's it gave Tupac, Biggie, Wu Tang and all that dope shit

yeah hip hop isn't dead, it has been replaced by pop-rap. Talking instead of singing don't make you hip-hop. HH has a ideology, ideology can't die.
