And when you climb into your bed tonight And when you lock... of the door Just think of those out in the cold and dark 'cause there's not enough love to go round And sympathy is what we need my friend And sympathy is what we need And sympathy is what we need my friend 'cause there's not enough love to go round Now half the world hits the other half And half the world has all the food And half the world lies down and cries: "We starve, 'cause there's not enough love to go round
I've been a rampant pacifist ever since hearing this splendid song in 1970. Now, half the world hates the other half." Unfortunately, still true and we are not getting any better - maybe, of late, worse.
One of the many joys of the 'net is that so much great music from way back when I was, is now available again, and I can buy it on CD via that same interweb, put it in the coffee holder & listen to it all over again...
And when you climb into your bed tonight And when you lock... of the door Just think of those out in the cold and dark 'cause there's not enough love to go round [chorus:] And sympathy is what we need my friend And sympathy is what we need And sympathy is what we need my friend 'cause there's not enough love to go round Now half the world hits the other half And half the world has all the food And half the world ... 'cause there's not enough love to go round
Un pur bonheur. J'aime cette musique, elle réveille plein de sentiments, et elle appelle qui veut l'écouter. Chacun peut y trouver quelque chose de perso qui va le toucher. Pas tout jeune, mais efficace
I bought this album when it came out. What was the song that had the lyrics' "Had an affair with your secretary, is that your way of life?" Loved that song. Cue me to a clue, friends.
@vasilivasili78 Though I value people covering songs, I fail to see the necessity of an instrumental version of a song with such poignant and relevant lyrics.
Then again, I also fail to see the pleasure in pit moshing, so who am I to judge.
Reflection of the world is blues, that's where that part of the music is at. Then you got this other kind of music that's tryin' to come around, but listen in her and sense the reflection
I'm not an expert on the various personnel associated with Rare Bird but as far as I'm aware Mark Ashton was the original drummer. A search of the internet draws a blank on a drummer by the name of Norman Parry. Perhaps he was a roadie!
Well, that was the only station. But it doesn't exist anymore. Now it's all Lady Gaga, Usher, Blck eyed peas and more audiocue crap. The radio has become one of my enemy #1
@BluTrilobite lol where in the US are you? im in the new jersey/new york city area and they have 2 AWESOME classic stations. one is classic rock and one is all kinds of classics from the 50s - 80s i think on the all classics i heard four tops, partridge family and discovered many more.
This is an awesome record, but sadly gets very little radio airplay today.
Considering most of the band members were in their early / mid 20s (the lead singer was only 19 at the time of release), it shows great maturity to release a record of such class. The lyrics are very sad and moving and as shorty9nl has said earlier still apply today, only the situation has got worse!
We used to sing this song in assembly, my hippy teachers really knew what they were doing - I learnt charity through their vision and this beautiful song. Thanks for posting x

Half the world hates the other half?
No, of course not, only a little fraction of it, like 5%, has all the food.
The world is unfair and we need to straight it up.
Democracy is the next step. Real Democracy with a big D.
Stand up and fight for Democracy.
The power produced and performed by people alone.
