Good luck with your Essential My Book. Mine died after 1 year and I lost years of files I had been saving. Western Digital says "Oh, well....your drive is apparently dead so go out and buy a new one". The system said it was not initiated and unallocated. They don't tell you to format it from FAT32 to NTFS but you have to. I can't even recover the files cause it's not being recognized by my system. Money wasted on this crap drive and years of files all gone. They refuse to return emails too!.

That's all fine and dandy until the circuitry of this product fails on you starting within as early as 2 months of owning this product.. P.S. if you're circuitry has already failed you and you are no longer under warranty, find a new encasing, and you should still be able to redeem your trapped files.
