You are missing the 2 leaf-springs that push the large locknut towards the clutch. THis spring force helps maintain some gap between the lever arm plate and the large locknut. The large locknut must not be turning while the engine is running (well--- maybe slowly due to throw-out bearing and seal drag.). IF the large locknut is coupled to the pull rod (no end play), the small throw-out bearing will always be spinning at cltuch speed, and that bearing won't last long.
I think I have it. I adjusted the large nut so it did not turn, then back off until I can turn by hand again, tightened the lock nut. I took the slack 1st out of the adjustment on the primary just to were the large nut still turned. Then I did a final on the lever to get that 1/8" space. Seems to be working now. I replaced the sloppy chrome lever with an alloy one and got the proper size lock nut. Going to double check it tomorrow.
Thanks. No, the clutch was not rebuilt. It was working fine until I replaced the cable and the cable end was popping out of the barrell. I took the mechanism apart & can't seem to get the adjustment right. Something is amiss!
try to set the 3 o" clock position with the adjusting nut in the side case then do the fine tuning with the lever....your lever might have to be replaced... did you rebuild the clutch??

how did that clutch adjust go?? i ride a t160 and had trouble with the clutch adjust. have some suggestions if you wanna hear em.
