I'ts not 1991, Lexus has long had the "it" factor. It's surely on par with BMW & certainly Mercedes. The new E-Class is not sporty at all. The steering is stiff but lifeless and so are the pedals. It feels unnatural

Audi's have horrible reliability and are expensive to fix out of warranty. If you're willing to put up with ultra expensive servicing & repair costs then go for the Germans.

If you want reliable and reasonable service costs, stick with the Japanese luxury brands.

@chosuriki couldn't agree more. The whole "Audi is the best quality" (and BMW... and Mercedes...) is simply perceived. When the first thing goes wrong, the owner of the Audi will have a rude awakening to the difference between perceived quality and actual product quality.

One thing I know about Japanese big 3 (Nissan, Honda, Toyota) is that their cars from the cheapest to the most expensive, drive consistently to the day the wheels fall off. The big 3 German cars, (Audi, Merc, BMW) ride turn rough and tumble after a few years. Yes, the Lexus is a bit on the soft side but that is what LUXURY is supposed to be. I really wish the so called car enthusiasts grow up and know the difference between Luxury and Sport Performance cars.

@GlockNinja I for one do not want to hear the engine, wind, suspension noise, or even feel the gravels on the ground through the steering wheel. That is what a Mazda Miata is for. A true Luxury car makes no sound except the sound of a very expensive stereo. A true Luxury car does not move you but teleports you. Close your eyes and you don't feel that you are moving. The old Cadillacs and Oldsmobile Delta 88 were such cars or come close to that definition. IMO.
