I actually felt a pretty good amount of loathing towards James Potter after reading the Deathly Hallows. Who knows how different the world would have been had Snape and Lily's friendship turned into more. Then again, if Lily and Harry had managed to escape Voldemort when James told them to run, would she really have turned back to Severus in her time of mourning?

Very sad. I'm a big fan of Lily and Snape. I got all choked up when I saw Severus heartbroken while looking at Lily's reflection in the Mirror or Erised.
