  • I got over my fear of spiders but i still wouldn't touch those two, i would keep them. but i wouldn't touch them

  • caught atrap door last week under my car ... my dog almost got it thank got i got to it before her...=) awesome species

  • gorgeous Avic Avic!!!

  • what happen dude, my black trapdoor made a hole but he didnt made the door, are you too??

  • @blackMEETYOURMAKER

mine's been LONG since made the trapdoor. Took 2-5 days after this recording to make the burrow and door

  • @Jon3800 ahh not bad, My trapdoor wont burrow and stay freeze in same place for long time (12 days) but he's alive and fine. so I made a hole with my finger, he get into it but he wont make the door. he wont make a door and it's been 3 days. Is that weird coz this is my first time.. any Info/idea/suggestion?

  • @blackMEETYOURMAKER

most likely your trapdoor isn't liking your substrate

  • @Jon3800 I use coco peat, in a tube tupperware 12x10 inch diameter, 8inch of it filled with coco peat. he wont burrow till now

  • @blackMEETYOURMAKER

    try pre-digging

  • @Jon3800 you got same container as mine 1:45 and my trapdoor is same big as yours, once I made a hole with my finger he get in and he made the door but he didnt make the door hinge. He wont eat for 1 half week i worried about that then i break his door to make sure he's ok but maybe that my mistake, he still alive and i have no idea with this. it's really hard to keep young trapdoor, if you can make some video about your trapdoor it might be helpful for people like me

  • @blackMEETYOURMAKER no sorry my trapdoor is younger and smaller its 3inch, in 9:10 it is a brushed trapdoor spider (so lucky you are that species is the best my fav, just wait when she get old 100% looks like silver plated spider) mine is black african trapdoor spider

  • @blackMEETYOURMAKER

    3) If you're saying 3 inches she's already a fully mature, it's not young as most trapdoors reach 2-3''.

    4) Check the mythbuster video series...there is already a detailed trapdoor care video. I care exactly like H.lividum. There's no really making an update video on mine since I never seen her since November. All I would be doing is to review a patch of dirt LOL

  • @blackMEETYOURMAKER

    some tips for you:

    1) You have to understand not ALL trapdoor spiders will behave the same way. I honestly wouldn't worry if it never ate for 3.5-4 days. Like I said time and time again...spiders can go through months without food...My own trapdoor has refused food for 4 weeks now.

    2) Breaking its door consistently to check on is something you should NOT be doing... that's stresses it and will kill it (this happened to me). there is NO door hinge

  • @Jon3800 so your trapdoor didnt made the door too?? only hole? doorless tunnel ?

I thought all trapdoor spiders (black african/red trapdoor/malaysian/brushed trapdoor)made the door like in other youtube videos and grown so big as big as your hand. I bought him just wanted to watch his eating action, he even cant make the door. now I waste my 30$

  • @blackMEETYOURMAKER

different spiders have different personalities.. Not all will have your textbook characteristics. Mine made the hole and door...I spent $20 on mine, and to this day after recording 69 tarantula feeding videos...he last attacked on camera since video 50.

  • @Jon3800 Wow 30 minutes that's woww you are really serious about them, are you a seller or arachnids lover just like me?? :)

  • hey jon, does your black trapdoor pop out and grab its prey like other trapdoors.. i have a black trapdoor but i havent seen it once pop out and grab the prey and i had it for a year already

  • @eLO419

yup she does. She's featured in the feeding video I put out yesterday

  • how much did the trapdoor spider cost ya?

  • @Jon3800 from where im lookin to buy on can you help me i also live in canada

  • @Matta212121

Tarantula Canada, Avery Exotics, or the Canadian Forum Arachnoboards are best places to look

  • How is the Black Trapdoor doing will you ever do a feeding video of her in the future?

  • @padmdhs scrap that ive seen you feed it in another video

  • what can the trap door do if he bites

  • @alexmini123

most likely send you up to the hospital. It's a highly venomous spider

  • @Jon3800 Is it just specifically that species that is super venemous because I have been tagged many times by native ones and the infamous African Red and all it did to me was made my hand burn...Now that I think about it did hurt pretty badly.

  • @NagatoPein88

Im not sure about the particular species but I'd imagine the venom being closed to the Red trapdoor

  • @Jon3800 Which is more venomous the Red Trapdoor Spider or the Black Trapdoor Spider. Whats the difference between Trapdoor Spiders and Tarantulas :).

  • @vaatithewindmage

equally venomous. Trapdoors makes trapdoors as their attack. Ts don't make trap doors except from one called I.mira. Trapdoors are hairless whereas tarantulas are

  • @Jon3800 Do Trapdoor Spider fangs hang out verticaly or horizontally.

  • @vaatithewindmage

vertically, just like a T... Wolf spiders are horizontal

  • @Jon3800 Thank you.

  • @alexmini123 I've heard that trapdoor bite is more venomous than any other T's, however it still can't kill an adult, healthy person. On arachnoboards, some guy said that he's friend was bitten by some different T's and once by a trapdoor, and he said that the pain was like hell. He didn't scream when he was bit by a T, but when a Trap bit him he was like AAAAAAAAARGH!!!! But I guess Jon would tell u more. I've never been bitten by my trapdoor :)

  • Lita is so cute! But the Trapdoor spider is cranky and where did u get them cuz I want a spider like lita and the trapdoor spider

  • @MoonlightxBlake

they can bought at online dealers or pet stores.

  • @Jon3800 I have never seen a trapdoor spider in a pet store. But I did find a very odd looking one in my yard yesterday releasing what can only be described as an army of at least second instar babies upon the world.

  • cool trapdoor!!! it needs to eat tho asap :)

  • TRAPDOOR SPIDERS FTW!

  • tara the terrible and i respect that the courage you have for losing beautiful animals

  • Is your trapdoor an adult? My grandpa said they had them all over Macedonia where he was born.

  • how can I tell if my pink toes are male or female?

  • @maybe2243

it's ventral shot at the 4:00 mark. Since My A.versicolor just died I'll put up a vid showing you its sex

  • @Jon3800

    Tetra died?

  • @TheEmperorOfWei

yup, I'm very upset. I'm uploading the video now :(

  • @Jon3800

Sorry for your loss man :-(

  • Lol you thank an OBT is bad.

  • And congrats that it's female! I still like the name Eve, since I don't think you had one with that name yet.

From what I can tell, I have two females and one male. Still not sure about my A. metallica, though. Funny enough, he's the only one that shoots poop, the A. avics just scuttle, and one of them likes to leap.

  • @KoriTamashii when my avic shoots poop (and he does ALOT) i make a game out of it to dodge it... its pretty fun lol

  • Cute little Avic! I have three A.Avics, living in a little colony. They're doing well. Hope your new little ones are doing well, too :)

  • why is it called a trapdoor? strange

  • @Smallgasengine1

because it digs a burrow and makes a cover resembling a trap door. When a cricket goes near the door, the spider grabs it and closes the door to snack

  • adorable

  • I have a huntsman and now I guess I have to get a trapdoor species. Thanks Jon!! ;)

By the way I just got my 1st P. metallica sling!!

  • @philtrip888

    congrats man

  • Ok, to be honest, if I had been you when the trapdoor clibed up on the tongs, you' would have heard me scream and drop the tongs. I'm mostly calm when it comes to Ts but true spiders actually freak me out. Well, except for the Daddy Long legs :-)

  • good trapdoor transfer

  • That trapdoor spider looks quite similar to Hysterocrates gigas. Damn i like it!

  • Do you know the specimen of the trap door? By common knowledge of taxonomy on this species, I assume its a Sydney Brown Trapdoor Spider ( Misgolas rapax ) .How high can a A.avicularia jump to without its optisoma rupturing?

  • @xDeAdlYSp1Derx

Trapdoors are really hard to ID because they generally look the same. I have no idea where it exactly comes from (I do have a hunch its an African species) so it may be an Idiops sp.

At least 1-2 feet, they're not likely to burst their abdomens compared to terrestrial

  • damn thats an awesome trapdoor spider! :D very very cute avic too, i love avics

  • @Vodje01

    thanks man ;)

  • Good to hear the trapdoor burrowed, when I woke up my new C. Crawshayi already burrowed.

  • my heart stopped when she jumped on the tongs haha I'm not sure I would have kept my cool!

  • @deadbinky

Ya, I didn't even notice she went on

  • Omg i think we have some sweet feeding videos to come. That trapdoor spider is a beauty! Cute avic =]

  • @poww777

    Ya, I can't wait

  • Wow trapdoor good luck man lol those things are crazy ass hell man! Did you get that one from kingbaboons store? The trapdoor looks like a female thanks to your videos I think I cam maby tell lol! you shood make a little video or photo of her trapdoor. also Congratz!

  • @Ratsnake151

yup I did. I'll be making a feeding video with her in it

  • those fangs go downward on the trqapdoor, are you sure thats not a tarantula? I would say it is...

  • @Reptilesmurf

fangs do go downward. Im sure its not a tarantula because when I woke up this morning, she already made her trapdoor. Both are not the same because Trapdoors come from the family Ctenizidae whereas Ts are Theraphosidae

  • Very, very beautiful A.Avicularia

  • Awesome!

Will you try to get some footage of Tara digging her burrow?

  • @floodtube1

she burrowed when I just woke up, sorry :(

  • pretty vibrant toes.

  • You keep them too dry thats why they die as slings....

  • @Buzzgrower

That replacement was sick when I got it. Avics slings can and do die whether you keep well or not. While I keep them a bit dry, my other A.metallica and pair of A.laeta are doing well.

  • My smaller avic just molted :)

  • @brutt128

    awesome man :)

  • and thats why we LOVE avics :) SO calm and docile. I will never grow tired of my Avics :)

  • looking forward to seeing more of that trapdoor once it's settled in!

  • Okay, very fast spider i've ever seen jon, i had a decision whether its Black trapdoor or C.crawshayi im getting, but since you uploaded this vid, im getting the C.crawshayi instead. Thanks man. o:

  • where did you get them ?

  • @canond450

    local pet store retailer

  • Oh epic, isn't it awesome when a spider suddenly bolts off with lightning speed? Luckily it didn't went straight away underneath some furniture LOL! Awesome video anyway!

  • @gallan30

    thanks man

  • Respond to this video... hey jon how much did the trap door spider cost ....hey when you apply to become a youtube partner do you have too pay anything cause i want to become one?¿¿¿?¿?¿?¿ help

  • @MrStevedominguez
