and.... and..... and... they make great stuff. all i can tease about is the public speaking.. everything else is solid. best maker of modern artifacts and new stuff.
@Atradaitoshi Reeves Gabrels is a great guitarist! He worked with David Bowie in the 90s. It's a shame that he's not so well-known, cause he's magnificent.
I love my reverend gil paris signature. Plays and sounds as good or better than guitars 2-3 times its price. REALLY wish it was made in america, but then again its better than most of the american crap i've picked up so i guess it doesn't really matter where its made.
Korean guitar makers have been at it long enough that many of them have gotten really, really good at it. I tried out a Suhr, a Duesenberg, and a whole bunch of guitars starting at $1200 when I was last in the market. I tried some Reverends and they were up there in quality and tone, and ahead of those others in originality. Plus, Reverend QC is in the US, as is customer service, which blows away any of the big American companies. Reeves' model is awesome, just like the man himself.
RR - I agree. I own a Martin, a Gibson, and a Fender USA. Reverend makes some cool guitars but I would like to know that my 600-900 investment will be worth 600-900 10 years from now. I think makers are making a mistake and losing customers by manufacturing in Korea. I want a Reverend PA-1 but will not buy (Korean). Who wants a Korean made guitar??? It's not something I want to pass down to my kids. Thanks pop for the crappy Korean guitar!!
@donbstewart123 ... 90% of the guitars you buy today (regardless of where it's made) will be worth 25%-35% LESS in ten years. An American Standard Strat bought for $1200 10 years ago is worth $799 (at best) to re-sell today. I'm not defending Korean (all off shore) made guitars (products), but people shouldn't be buying gtrs today worrying about your 'investment' 10 years down the road, unless you're buying an already established 'vintage ' investment. It's an instrument - a Tool.
When I am no longer able to play, I would like to pass down something nice or be able to sell and get most of my money back. I would rather have a 10 year old USA Strat than a 10 year old Mexican Strat - check you prices on eBay. There is a true reason - quality. 80's Japan killed USA Fender - Haven't been impressed with Korean.
@donbstewart123 I don't know why I even bother. It's got nothing to do with being American made or Mexican or whatever. If you're worried about getting most of your money back after years of playing the instrument then you've got a bigger problem than worrying about where that instrument is made. So these guitar companies should give you money back just for the privilege of having you play it for a few years.
@rolandgp8 It's just I've bought enough crappy guitars in the past. Most of them were tossed away. I got tired of spending my money only to be disappointed later. I just think spending a little more will get you a better "tool" and if it's worth a little more down the line it's a nice bonus. Thanks for sharing your opinion. I do see your point. You ought to check out St. Blues Guitars - they are made overseas and finished in the US. They seem like they could be a good value. Take care!
Being from Michigan and cutting my teeth during Reverends American/Michigan made hay day. I loved these guitars and the company. Then Naylor made the decision to send the production to Korea. Hey I get it, it was legitimately the only way to survive. So I understand, but still I will never buy a Korean made, well anything, but guitars in particular. Not because I don't like the Koreans, but because I can't see myself making music on an instrument made by a 10 year old child.
@redrocker1055 I understand your feelings about them no longer made in USA, but Koreans don't use child labor. Their children are much too busy with school, after-school school, tutors, and did I mention school?
@doguecreek S. Korea joined the ILO in '91 but have yet to ratify the ILO's requirements on workers rights. Their law specifically states that "no person under the age 15 shall be employed." But they fail to release documentation that companies adhere to the law. Judging by the region and their lack of accountability - I would say it's not to far of a stretch to find that a 10 year old Korean child is - in fact building these guitars... Maybe they have a school in the sweatshop.
the video is still processing, but the tones sound decent ... considering YT compression and a live, open expo floor setting ... guitar seems killer for under a grand ... Go Rev!
I want this guitar.... I instantly got that feeling... this is what I´ve been searching for... damn...

I have one as well, love it to bits :D
My only real problem is where the neck meets the body. It's very hard to play the highest frets. But other than than, killer guitar
