  • If the Byrds were together in 1983 they'd sound like this. "Inch By Inch" a Plimsouls masterpiece..just incredible

  • The past is a million miles away--Case spells it out perfectly on this one and the Plimsouls play it like the whole world was watching!

  • Thanks for posting this, takes me back.

  • Greatly under appreciated band

  • Sick ass hell band back when I was in high school..dback

  • Sure looks/sounds like PWesterberg in the first tune...I wonder if they ever crossed paths with the Replacements?

  • This band defined 80's music!! This is real music 101! Peter Case is still writing great songs!

  • freakin' awesom, live sweaty with energy... What music now is missing.

  • I was there on crutches but wouldn't go to the hospital for my broken foot till after the show!!! It was worth it but I had to smoke a LOT of hash to kill the pain ;o)

  • @707funzone UMMM OK? BROKEN FOOT?SMOKING?

  • @707funzone Okay, I have NO idea when that comment was posted, but I did NOT write that comment. I'm kind of scared because this is the first time I went on this video, and I see a comment that I posted.

    Sorry, that wasn't me.

  • @707funzone Okay, I have NO idea when that comment I "posted" was posted, but I never did that. This is the frist time I have been on this video. Sorry, that wasn't me. I'm kind of scared.

  • Quality footage...thanks for posting

  • Perkins Palace was a great venue, to back Gene and Marilyn Buchanan gutted it an turned it into condo's, what idiots!

  • Awesome!! A truly great band that is even better live. Check out "One Night in America", a live disc recorded back around '83 or so. It'll blow your mind.

  • This clip would have a lot more hits if people knew that "A Million Miles Away" was on it. Sooooo tasty!

  • FANTASTIC!!

  • This is great. Thanks for posting it. I wore this tape out playing it over and over in my car. You know they have stood the test of time. This is still hot and I cannot say the same thing for a lot of the music that I listened to in the early 80's.

  • Wow, this is great. I came to the Plimsouls through Peter Case's solo stuff, but this... they really had it together, didn't they. What a great show. Thanks for putting this up.

  • anyone know the venue in Pasadena?

  • Somebody said Perkins Palace. I went to a free radio simulcast back then early 80's in Pasadena, the place was like a big old theatre. I think its the same place. I agree 100% that the Plimsouls should have ruled the 80's... great great stuff.

  • A great live clip from the band that should've ruled rock radio in the 1980s. Finally got to see them two years ago and I was not disappointed.

  • Was Clem Burke pounding the skins at that show?

  • @crapple009 Clem didn't play with the 'Souls until late 90s. That's Lou Ramirez, the Plimsouls original drummer.

  • @MuzzikLvr - That's right, I had forgotten when Clem joined- many thanks!

  • Thank you thank you thank you! This is one of my all-time favorite bands, and the only time I ever saw them in any way was on some VHS tape of horrible quality and the three lipsynched songs in Valley Girl. To see them like this is amazing. I sure hope this becomes available on DVD. I seriously doubt there's a better convert vid of them than this one right here.

  • Good point HeavensMe, but they would have been big anyhow if Peter had decided to keep playing the corporate music game instead of going his own way and playing incredibly powerful folk and blues--his real roots.

I remember listening to these guys in 83--my senior year in HS. I loved them, and from my small town in CO, they made me think that California was the coolest place in the world since they never played anywhere near there.

  • These guys Rocked !! I lived in LA about this time and we had two radio stations that played rock music, KLOS (They simulcast this concert) and KMET (The "Mighty Met"). They would spread the word about a great band playing a small club and on Saturday night you could go see someone like the "Plimsouls" blow the doors out of some tiny club for a $10cover and two drink minimum ! What a great time.

  • I remember seeing this on tv! I love this! THanks!

  • Holy crap, this is unbelievable! Where did you get this? I agree with the others, all three video posts are superb. Great quality. The 'Souls were so underrated. Would be great if this was available on DVD or audio CD.

  • OMFG...... you truely are superman for posting this.... wow

  • RAW!Thanx to my hero clark kent.

  • All I can say is THANK YOU for this post!!!

  • great memories. plimsouls are one of the best of the 80's

  • one of the greatest of the 80's

  • another great band screwed by the recording industry jerkoffs.

  • All 3 of the Pasadena videos are amazing. One of the great power-melody bands of all time. I think they came out a little too soon in the early 80s. Five years later and they'd have been a world phenomenon. Still my favorite band.

  • A piece of history. Good, good, good post.

  • Where did you get this?? I love it, the Tonedogs in their prime....thanks much and please post more!!
