  • wow...u ppl should be ashamed. This woman decided to make a video that's alot better than alot of the other instructors on youtube and you just criticize. If you don't like it, that's fine but to personally insult is rude and immature. Thank you so much for your videos. I am very new at this and i believe dancing is more about feeling the music and dancing to the beat of your heart and emotions than technical movements.

  • R U SERIOUS?

  • You CANNOT do it since you're fat and you have to move only your tummy and not your hips too!

  • You have a beautiful belly, figure and face making you not only an excellent teacher but a gorgeous and sensual woman!

  • yeah men can do it, my bf does it loll

  • that's no the belly roll.. ¬¬

  • yummy belly and navel.

  • but she's cheating, she's moving her hips. there is a belly roll that uses ONLY the abs muscles

  • my friend THAT IS A BOY Can do that better!

  • it seems like more of an undulation than a strong belly rool but i acn see it their somewhat.

men an do these usualyl easier thanw omen because we are so focused on sucking our gutsi n all day its harder for us to just relax and isolate the muscles

  • I have a question: can you do this move with more a fatter belly or a really skinny belly, and also can men do it\.

  • it's not about a fat or skinny belly. it's about how you move your muscles. think muscles! can men do it? i don't see why not.

  • iluv ur stomach...pls zoom in on ur bellybutton

  • hah. really awesome =]

  • rosered, I think it is okay for someone that has danced for many years to give tips to others. It is not a law that you can't move your spine while doing a belly roll, I've seen dancers do backbends while doing belly rolls. No there is not a degree in bellydancing, expert is subjective yes, but I think most people love it enought to keep the integrity of the dance.

  • I'm a little confused, i don't have a lean stomach, nor one that would be considered fat, and when i try to do belly rolls, its kinda like my whole spine swerves.... is it supposed to do that?

  • O_O that dont sound good

  • i thought belly dancing helps you stay fit or slim and without the unnecessary abdominal fats..how come you couldnt achieve such figure when you're an expert in belly dancing???

  • Keanebutod, curves are sexy =)

  • Wow, that is a very ignorant and mean thing to say.

This woman's body is beautiful. Slim bodies and full figures are all welcomed and seen in the world of Belly Dancing. I wish I could gain weight so that my belly rolls could be smooth like this.

Thank you for posting these videos :).

  • cause she is a real woman with SO much sex appeal NOT bone n skin n skinny legs like macaroni sex in in a giels hips n legs! anything skinny is NOT she is pefect n not muscles like a man either JUAT ALL WOMAN

  • There's a misconception, even amongst people who have been dancing for years. What she's doing is not actually a belly roll. It's a camel using only her lower body. In an actual belly roll only the belly rolls; not the the spine. The move should come exclusively from the abdominals with no help from her back. Both moves look similar from the front, but from the side, only the belly should move and it should resemble a wave. Calling a camel a belly roll is like calling a plantain a banana.

  • you are right. a camel is not a belly roll; a belly roll comes from using your abdominal muscles; however in doing so your spine will move, otherwise you'd be stiff as a board. and i don't recall telling anyone that a camel was a belly roll. please listen carefully to what i say before misconstruing my words.

  • I've seen people who've danced for years, if not decades, and the best dancers can belly roll without moving their spines. It's a move to show off the dancer's skills in isolation. What a lot of dancers do is move their spines and have the belly come along for the ride. It is easier than a belly roll. This is good for practice to find which muscles should be moving in a belly roll and with practice one can "graduate" from the camel to the belly roll.

  • Belly dance is a beautiful dance, but there is a problem with it. There's no authority on it, and that is one of the reasons it is not as respected as other dances. There's no "royal belly dance academy" like there is in ballet. There is no certification that means anything. Camels can be body rolls or body waves. Mayas can be downward figure eights, some swear that mayas must be performed flat footed and I see here on you tube someone demonstrating a maya by doing figure 8s down to the floor.

  • With the help of the internet, anyone who thinks they're a good dancer can pass them selves off as experts, and impress beginners when they themselves know only enough to look competent in the eyes of an amateur. The greats never stop at intermediate or "good enough". They keep learning until their bodies are instruments able to interpret every beat of the drum. A fancy skirt and bra does not a belly dancer make.

  • I'm not saying that this dancer is a bad dancer. I consider myself to be an intermediate dancer who is still learning. I can do all the moves that she can do, plus a few more. With that being said, I would never post videos teaching anybody anything because I am not a master. I wont consider myself one until I can shimmy non stop with zero fatigue, back bend slowly to the ground with no signs of effort and use my body like a drum kit, accenting every beat of a song.

  • this was something that came natural to me, can u check out my vids and give me pointers on how i can improve my bellydancing

  • wow and i thi=ought u had to have a flat stomach to do this

  • the beauty of belly dance is that you can be any shape and dance anywhere.

  • it doesn't look as good and its harder to do wit a flat stomach so i eat a lil bit b4 i make a belly roll vid

  • Thanks girl , that was really helpfull :)

    xxx

  • lol. I remember the first time I did a belly roll. I was looking at my aunt one day and she was like,"look what I can do!" And she started doing the belly roll and I said,"Let me try!" And I did it also. it took me like 3 seconds and I was 8... :P It doesn't hurt. But after a while, your abs get tired. :P

  • got it thankx! it took about 20 tries but finally learned it.

  • next week. thanks for asking. belly dance is great for pregnant women.

  • lol nice come back

  • thnx alot

  • I'll try !!!! thank you very much for this video n_n

  • I just learned how to do a bellyroll and it was so good for the body, it was an amazing feeling xD Lol ^^

  • Thanks for the video! ;D And this can't hurt your self!

  • no, bellyrolls won't hurt you. but if you always do things structurally, not muscularly-your body will tire faster. in this case, your lower back is compensating for the lack of muscle work in your belly-

Same with snake arms, if you are just moving your arms, not engaging your shoulderblades and those muscles. I'm just very tribal I suppose :) and love knowing that every movement my body makes is 100% controlled by my muscles rather than my skeleton.

  • i hurt myself doing a belly roll..... i fainted wile doing one lol

  • but that's not a "belly roll". that's simply structural and you can hurt yourself by not correctly engaging all of your belly muscles. your hips. . .nothing else should be moving. it's all about isolations.

  • another note: not intended in a negative way. simply looking out for everyone's well being. without doing it purely muscularly, you can really hurt your lower back. when you think about it in terms of your belly button, you're only doing it structurally. it may take longer to learn, but doing it muscularly is safer and when it's mastered, SO much more dramatic!

  • Thanks

  • Thanks.. I'm already getting good at the belly roll.:D

  • umm is it really hard to do if u have almost no fat on your belly?

  • you are not really moving fat; you are moving the muscles under the fat. so the fat is irrelevant.

  • i have to say just starting out this is probably the hardest one to do but i'm going to keep practicing. you're absolutely amazing for posting these videos. Thanks!

oh and i love your skirt in this video where can i find one like that lol

  • you didn't start with this video and then find the others did you? because, then yes, that would be hard. that's one of the reasons i made this belly roll video after the others.

I hope you have fun with them.

the full videos can be downloaded from my website, which can be found in the "more about this video"comment. I have changed name since making the vids.

  • no lol i watched them all in order and i'm really not to this point but i went through them all and tried everything once just for fun and this is the hardest lol i'm sure once i'm more experience with the rest it won't be AS hard but i still think this is the thing i'll have to practice the most

  • skirt...a belly dance supply shop? online? there are plenty...make it yourself? it's chiffon and coins..I found mine in a little shop. I can't sew.

  • i think i may try to make one myself if i can find the materials around my little town that way i can do what ever color i want and stuff thanks for letting me know what it was i'm short on money so i'll see what i can do first lol

  • nice teach
