@killerkowalczyk because it will go where a 2WD wont, but perhaps not quite as far as a 4WD with locking diffs that's why, plus they didn't install them on series rovers AFAIK.
landrovers have ruled the roost for over 60 years with a locking centre dif. if it aint broke dont fix it. the diference is they need driver input to get the best out of them.
i was under equipped for sure. today i am running Super Swamper Radials (265R70 16s) that will rip thru it this winter. I have gained quite a bit of knowledge almost a year later. Thanks for watching!!! Tom
2 tyres too small tall narrow tyres are the way yo go
3 jeeps suck balls
4 hi box 4wd big beans
5 long wheel base with 1 ton shackels would have faired better as they have more ground clearance for the chassis and the rear wheels would have been on more solid ground
wide tyres tend to 'float' atop the snow rather than pushing into it, if you look at the tyres on ice/snow race cars they have narrow tyres with steel spikes in the tread they push through the snow and bite into the ice beneath
At least you had it in 4WD. The number of people who don't know how to put these series motors into 4WD, or forget the FWH's, or don't even realise they arn't always in 4WD is remarkable.
whats the point of having a 4x4 if you cant lock the diffs?

narrow tyres? isnt it supposed to be fat chunky tires with a low air pressure in them - they work like mini - tracks

Any car would get stuck with open diffs.

As a result of this, we now carry a spade in the vehicle at all times.
Hopefully, in the future, we'll have another Rover at our disposal to pull our Series out.

You could try waggling the steering wheel a bit to try and find traction. But it is hard without powersteering! lol
