I have one of those subs you get for the fish tank. I took it up north camping and I had a riot with it. The water has a rocky bottom where we were and it was very clear and shallow so I spent an entire day with it and got so damn burnt in the sun. Was way more fun than my girlfriend! - EX! I've had it for 5 or 6 years I think.
I just bought one today and tried it in the pool. it works great, dives nice. the only thing is that it wont go deeper than three feet or so before it looses signal. does anybody know how to increase the signal for deeper dives? Im lookin to get to six feet.
It basically just aims the thrusters (which propel it forward) down. Therefore, the thrust is pushing it underwater and/or forward, depending on what you want to do.
It can thrust it straight to the bottom, propel it forward, or do a little of both. To rise up to the surface, you can let it just float, or you can use the thrusters (those things on either side).
I hope this helps. I know you asked quite a while ago.
i brought mine a couple of years ago, two months ago i dismantled it and im thinking putting the motors, the receiver and the pcb in a small boat

Tried mine in lake Rotoma N.Z. It dove way past 12 feet with full control. Bouancey was compramised at that depth
But motors coped well. Minimal water in sub after dive. Great toy

It's a fail, mine broke today, I took it in the water, controller stopped responding, opened it up and was filled with water. Waste of $20
