I am actually in a christmas play at my church called More Than An Heirloom and the final scene sings this song. It's a good play there's four generation and four scenes and I'm in the third generations scene. And I have a bro and dad who grow close because of the importance of love, god, and memories in that scene.
Thank you for posting this song. I love to sing, but wasn't a "singer" officially, but had a fairly good voice. Anyway...when this song came out, I loved it so much, I rehearsed it over and over and surprised my parents and family on Christmas eve, by singing it to them, so they would know how much they meant to me and how much Jesus meant to me! That was probably Christmas 1987! (I was 28)
I've been a genealogist since I was fifteen and I love this song because it expresses the love of family, especially ancestors, which is what genealogy is all about. As an LDS person, I hope I live so I can be with all of the people from the past that I've researched and placed on my family tree!
Beautiful video demonstrating the two most important aspects of this wonderful time of year. The chance to spend time with family and that Jesus came cown to our level so that we may go up to His level.
This song is one of my favorites. It talks about the two most precious things in the world God and Family. We need to cherish all the moments we have with our families before its too late and remember that jesus is the reason for the season.
Hey, i am singing this song at my church on sunday..but i dont have a karoke version of it! can you PLEASE make a karoke video? anybody really ..:) thanks
I have loved Amy Grant ever since I first heard her music. This is one of my favorite songs, and I play it throughout the year. There are so many great songs by her. She's a very gifted artist. If you don't have the album STRAIGHT AHEAD, please, pick it up. It's awesome!
I was never a religious person but I love lots of Christian singers because they sing with such passion and heart, Amy Grant is my favorite singer for decades now and I have practically all her songs memorized and love them so much. This is one of my favorites thanks for posting it.
@Chandlerbcliburn Heirlooms are things handed down from generation to generation. It's not just tangible things, it's also things learned from our elders. the stories etc.
My wife went home to be with our Lord at the age of 30, after struggling for 11 years with a Muscular disease. There isn't a time that I don't listen to this song that I don't weep out of sorrow for missing her... and joy that our Saviour is our Heirloom and the reason that we can have hope. Thanks for sharing this in video form. It is beautiful.
Christmas music dosen't get much better, or say it much better than this. All of her Christmas CD's are some of the very best ever.I always look forward to Thanksgiving, so we can put the tree up that night, and put on the music.
Love this video. This song is so beautiful by Amy Grant.
