Cool to see a couple of pictures I took at an AMS meeting in the tribute (Fletch in the "10 Weather" set and unwrapping the fulgurites at the desk). Tampa Bay lost an outstanding member of the community, but I bet his forecasts are always full of sunshine where he is now.
I live in the Tampa Bay area, and I had watched his weather forecasts for so many years. I was really hoping that he would pull through after his second stroke. This one turned out to be worst than I had ever assumed. The morning that I heard that he had passed away, I was sickened beyond belief. How could someone that was such a kind and enlightening person, and brought so much comfort to the many people that have known him, left us so soon? He sure will be greatly missed.
D...that's the way life is sometimes...sometimes it can be wonderful..sometimes it can be a dirty trick...it's really all in how you handle it that makes it more bearable.
Mr. Fletcher went way out of his way to help me with one one my college assignments, and he was always the first person I recieved a birthday card from each year. I will always remember his kindness.
We could all relie on his weather forcasts he always made the dangouses moments seem ok and for that i am deeply sad i was a fan and and he is the weather man in heaven now
A wonderful weather man since 1980..I grew up watching him,and he is like family to us all here in the Bayarea..We will forever have you in our Hearts,Goodbye Dick
We're from San Diego...but in the past 5 years Dick Fletcher was our weather man...and trusted friend. He will most definately be missed. What a nice man!
I live in The woodlands,Texas now,but grew up in Lakeland,Florida.
Fletch was there to help us Floridians thru all our Hurricane troubles over the years.
Rest in Peace Mr.Fletcher.
