A huge pool of fresh water in the Arctic Ocean is expanding and could lower the temperature of Europe by causing an ocean current to slow down, British scientists said Sunday.

As the climate continues to warm, the oceans warm, raising humidity due to increased evaporation. Regarding the debate whether natural global warming causes more intense weather, Dr. Landsea of MIT was assigned to write this section of the IPCC AR4 report. His research showed there was no signal showing such a relationship exists. Since this wasn't the result the IPCC wanted, they found a non-peer reviewed paper from some INSURANCE company suggesting such a relationship MAY exist, and just ran with that. In Alaska glaciers had been retreating from 100 to 200 years, the average rate of recession being about 50 feet a year. The Antarctic ice- sheet also showed signs of recent retreat.

Leading Arctic expert William Carlson said that glaciers in Norway and Alaska lost half their size during the fifty years before 1952. Had that rate of loss continued, there would have been no glaciers left in Alaska or Norway by 2002. Given that there are glaciers remaining, we can infer that the rate of ice loss was slower in the second half of the century than it was in the first half of the century.

CAGW was "unlucky" from 1900-1940 when temps rose significant with little man-made CO2, very unlucky for AGW when temps DROPPED rapidly 1940-1978 when man-made CO2 was rapidly increasing, and very lucky for CAGW from 1979-1997 when temps rose in tandem with man-made CO2 and very unlucky for CAGW that temps remained flat rom 1999-2011 when man-made CO2 rapidly rose.
