You sholud look at what you can get on Ebay PC wise in future as my PC a year old set me back £700 and has way more power than what you sold but Dell or any other PC seller's prices are stupidly high.
Mac's really do keep their value, i recently bought an iMac G4 and it cost me £350 and this is for an eight year old machine. I don't know if my intel iMac will keep its price so well as there will be a lot of them about when i come to sell it, and i think the G4 keeps its price due to the classic "lamp" design.
By the way, it's running tiger and does everything i need it to, even some HD video!
Hi i am just after a bit of advice if you were going to buy a new camcorder would you go for a hard drive based model or a SDHC model. Great videos by the way
For some time now and again at the very beginning of the video I got the feeling you are "working" yourself up to a mac pro and now that its apparent, I'm betting we will see an unboxing video of one WITHIN three months. Mark my words!!
well the current high end MacPro is not a 8-core processor, its a dual quad core. i just hope Final Cut integrates grand central dispatch and open CL very soon. but i only see open CL being used for compressor, such as xgrid was.
yes thats basically what i meant to say, sorry. it's two Nehalem core i7s with 4 cores per processor so that is 8 physical cores, which is possibly 5 - 6 times faster than my current 2.8ghz core 2 duo imac.
yeah much more ideal for editing, HD video. I do some HD video editing on my imac. not so new imac, 2.0 GHz..... but i wont edit anything over 10 mins.... cause i have and.. it was only huge but redic to work with.
Definitely, I think the core i5 and core i3 imac's and macbook pros coming soon will be able to handle the HD video editing much better. But I'd like the mac pro in order to future proof the investment for a few years anyway.
ahhh the Mac Pro...lol...I don't think ill have a mac pro for another 5 years.lol. by then HOPEFULLY will have 32 cores...lol. but ye ur right, mac pros will go a very long way, will last a long time ! be great to see some videos on a future mac pro ! lol

If you go for a Mac Pro, with the RAM, stick with multiples of 3. With DDR3 RAM, you can bottleneck your machine with an even number Gigs of RAM.

I purchased a Dell dimension as a spare computer. $250 last year I think or maybe 2 years now.
The specs were better then what it was listed for.
