I 've a VAIO VGN CS325J with an Nvidia 9300M GS 256 Mo.
Seems like VAIO laptops do have a dual graphics card system (intel for low performances and nvidia of something else for high performances). When you install OSX on it, the install prog detects Nvidia as a graphic cards but searches the internal screen in the intel VGA witch sends back an error an make the internal display black with non backlight. the DD stays in activity and sounds works. any advice?
@TOBBAGO What distro are you using? Maybe the Kext installed might be the wrong one. If you are using Snow Leopard, check to see if the Kext installed is for Leopard or if it is the correct Kext for your version of OS X.
If you need to find the correct Kext try here kexts.com under graphics cards.
Tell me friend... seems like the website you indicated to me is not available...But I wanted to ask you about something. We both have VGN cs series that means the same bios.. R2060Q2 right? Question : Have you an access to the "advanced tab" inside your biosand a more particulary a feature called "VGA Switching Policy". By default mine is locked on Auto and is not accessible to allow a modification. I need to turn it to STATIC ans all my prob will find a solution
@TOBBAGO Youtube won't allow me to add the link to the site. There is nothing wrong with the site, it is perfectly available. You need to type in w w w . kexts . com. Install iAtkos S3 v2, we did without any problems, you have no need to mess around with the Bios, let alone VGA switching. Like i said your problem is with the kext.
Which Laptop is the one that you would recommend me to use the Ubuntu system? I like it a lot and I am thinking about buying a Sony laptop but the exact series I don't know...
Very awesome triple boot. Do you have any how-to instructions for someone that has Windows 7 installed first? Also, what are the features running on Windows 7 part? Like the video wallpaper for example. How did you do that?
@xmattycorex i´ts called Chameleon bootloader ver. 4
In order to install it you have to have Mac OS X as it runs on that partition only.
You have to formatt all three partitions as Primary partitions in order for the bootloader to recognize each partion and operating system. Its freeware, just google it......:-)
@winsevenholic Hi this notebook is a VGN-CS15GN/B standard specs: Intel dualcore P8400 2.26ghz processor Intel 4500 Gma integrated graphics 250 gb HDD 2 Gigs ram This specific notebook has been modified and currents specs are. Intel P8800 dualcore 2.66ghz processor Nvidia 320gt graphics card 320 gb HDD 4 gigs ram Note for this triple boot none of these modifications are necessary.... We just modified the notebook to prove what can be done to them...
You can upgrade certain features of notebooks if they allow. In our case the processor was just a matter of swapping one out for another, note that you can do this as long as your processor is of the same range. In our case it was the P range. we went from the P8400 to the P8800. if you have a T range for example then you can only upgrade with a T range processor.
As for the Graphics card it was more dificult. We had to swap out the motherboard with the one of a VGN-CS18 which comes with a graphics adaptor. If you have integrated graphics then you CANNOT upgrade unless you replace the motherboard. We then had to install the heatsink (also from the cs18). This in all was a once off experiment as it is expensive and not really worth the effort. But if you have a graphics adaptor then yes you can upgrade the card as long as it is compatible..
What can I say I'm a h8t3r lmfao NICE JOB!!! Can you provide setup plz
